  1. Yes your right and Kevin is a fine man, have met him my self. Obviously things haven't turned out in his favor as the Head Football Coach at Soddy Daisy the last few years. Good people always land on there feet. It may not be at Soddy but Kevin will land on his feet. If you have ever met the man then you know his heart is in the right place and he has a vested interest in those kids lives. You may question his coaching but I don't think anyone can question who he is as a person. I'm sure being a head coach at one of the largest schools in our area can be tough, when you win all is well even if your team plays poor technique and wrong alignment or assignment but when your loosing the same guy who had the players one year is now an idiot who can't coach. Guys we all know it don't work like that. Good player make good coaches. From what I take of these message boards maybe little Johnny just isn't that good, even if they are your kids. Its tough to take cause we all want our kids to grow up to be the best in what ever they do and that may not be sports it may be just being a productive citizen or father. So the people that get on here and bash your coach or want a change may wanna realize the role model that they have had the last couple years although the wins haven't always been there. Just a thought.
  2. Well I guess organization is certainly apart of the total program for sure but coaching ability I wouldn't think would be close. Six wins in one year with a sophomore heavy class and very few seniors compared to five wins for John in two season so I guess make your own assumption. I still think E.K. is the front runner although the rumor of Grider showing interest is one I can't figure out but would be very good for Soddy or any school
  3. Two of the most improved teams in town. I'm pulling for the Wildcats. The adjustments made at half time have been the difference in several games and the same for this win.
  4. Why would Montgomery not be a good fit in Soddy? Always heard good things about the fellow and he did a great job at Central during his time there. I would think most Central people would much rather have him than what they got now!!!.
  5. Not familiar with Sweetwater however Tyner Rams have athletes tripping over each other every year. Tyner wins this one by a couple scores.
  6. He would be a fool to leave Central (Athletes) to go to Soddy (No Athletes). That move would certainly not help his resume at all. But we will see what shakes out.
  7. Bring Bill Price back he's just about run his course on the mountain and may be ready to start over.
  8. Got a huge win over a quality opponent at the end of the year. So does that carry momentum into the summer for all involved, Coaches, returning players and parents. So is the Rhea faithful happy with the way things turned out or is another change in the future. THOUGHTS???
  9. Lets just say John leaves in the next couple months. What will be his reasoning for not seeing it through. Curious as to what everyone thinks would be his reasoning??
  10. Very interesting name I just heard about for a possible replacement is Vic Grider,South Pittsburg Pirates. If he's interested in this job then I wouldn't think it would do anyone else any good to apply. He's proven and has some state titles to prove it. Now with that being said. He has always had athletes. I can't figure out why he would leave a state power every year for such a rebuilding project and no athletes but will be interesting to see if anything here transpires.
  11. Sorry to hear this. Very sad news. Prayers from Chattanooga.
  12. I would say some names of interest would be E.K Slaughter, word is people Lion town are not so satisfied and since people in Soddy love him may ne a good fit. Chad Barger, had a great run in Sequatchie but a miserable year this year, may be ready for a change of scenery. Sam Montgomery, been a head coach at a couple places most recently at Central two years ago, been an assistant at Sequatchie the last couple years, may be ready to do his own thing again. Tony Webb, been at Lookout Valley for years and would probably want an opportunity to see if he can duplicate the success he has had at a larger school. Craig Campbell, current O.C. at Red Bank. Has applied for several head coaching jobs in the area the last few year but hasn't landed anything yet. Houston White, was at Hixson for several years was never extremely successful but familiar with the area and familiar with the program. Currently helping Lakeview Fort Oglethorpe have the best year they have had in years as the Off. C... Any other names lets hear them.
  13. So how long does John stick around?? Won 5 games in two years and from all accounts has a young team so don't appear to be to successful next year with a young team. So what's everyone's thoughts. Does he stay for a few more years and try to build the program or skip out for something else. If Greene leave Rhea I can see John trying to go home. Thoughts??
  14. Troll if you guys and East Hamilton keep winning what round would you guys meet in?? 3rd??. That's the game I'd like to see.
  15. All you guys are engaged in the program and view things different than one another but it appears that we all agree with one aspect. That being the depth issue. Which brings us full circle back to the root of the problem.. Like him or not(and and I'm only speaking in the sense of a coach, no other reason) kids as a whole and coaches as a whole Do Not like the way things run under his leadership. I realize there are a few guys and players that do but as the majority they DO NOT.. Now its not an argument if you don't believe me just go ask a couple coaches that he has coached with in the past from Lakeview, Bradley, Silverdale and yes Central!!!.. So the point is if you care about the State of Central Football and you want to start building the program then changes have to be made. There will not ever be any depth or super athletes stay at the program because talented kids will continually be gone after buy more successful programs. So there lies the problem. John comes in and takes over a program that had finally built some ground on winning games. In his two years he has won as many games as the previous coach did in his first year. And that team had very few seniors or juniors mostly sophomore class. So we can keep going in circles here or we can cut our losses get someone in there that can build some deep long lasting roots. Once again the sooner the better.
  16. Based on the huge sophomore class from two years ago that went 6 & 4. This years 7 wins should have been a given.. now granted a few get kicked off the team, transfer or just don't play but with the underclassmen that went undefeated during JV. Play two years ago and add some pretty good youngster's from Brown that won the league championship two years ago this class all in all should have been Centrals best team in years and would have been under the right coach, leadership. For those casual observers who are not all that familiar with the Central program these last two years have been huge dissapointments. And don't give me that he is cleaning house and all that garbage. A good coach with good assistances(not parents from off the street that don't have a clue what there doing) would have this program rolling. John hires the only guys he can find that will work under his micromanagerial style or parents whom he can dictate to. Even some of the guys he coaches with now and in the past hate coaching with him. Just go ask if you wanna know the truth. ADMINISTRATION CLEAN HOUSE AND START OVER!!...NO EXCUSES otherwise sit back and reap the benefits from all the surrounding schools loading up on your talent..
  17. Sounds like the Dunn fellow (who I do believe was an all American football player) distanced himself from the program that should speak volumes!!! Good coaches don't want to be around this fellow. For Central to win again they have to keep there talent at home. This will not happen with John in charge. Offer Barger the AD and Head Coaching job back or Montogery. At least they rallied the kids, had alot out and seemed to be headed in the right direction with improving the program in the win/loss column. Kids don't want to play for the guy and coaches don't wanna coach for him. Enough is enough!!!
  18. The kids deserve better. Hopefully, the administration will wake up and get rid of this Goofball. To much talent year in and year and year out to win 2 or 3 games a year. Barger gets them to a couple 5 and 5 years. Then Montgomery comes is takes it another step up, if he had stayed no telling what this team could have accomplished. Now they hire the best used car salesman in town, only problem is he's coaching football and not selling cars. The sooner the powers to be realize the only thing Brother John is doing is helping Ooltewah, East Hamilton, Ridgleland and all the privates get better cause no decent athlete wants to stay and play for him. I'm sure he's a great person but from all accounts the fellow is not much of a coach. I guess time will tell. Hopefully for the kids at Centrals sake its sooner than later.
  19. Wow very unfortunate for the Jackets!. Unfortunately the kid and his teammates will suffer from this. Not how you wanna end your career.
  20. Curious as to the reason why the starting QB may not be playing for the Jackets?? Any thoughts. Heard it may be some mescaline issues.
  21. Heard some kids may be going across state line to play ball this year. Any truth to that? If so what kids?
