Glad I could bring humor to your evening. Sometimes that smaller group has more talent. (09 and 10 come to mind),and sometimes it doesn't, We never know till the game is played do we?

I doubt that many not part of Alcoa would realize. Sometimes the Freshman even get to play,as they did the last two games. Unlikely to happen this week!

What a great series this is. It is truly amazing how big this game is in the community. (And how important it feels each year.) I would like to correct one misstatement about team size that many may not realize. While the teams appear to be the same size when dressed and on the sideline,they truly are not. Maryville will have 94 players dressed. This does not include the 50 or so Freshmen. Alcoa dresses everyone. The 89 you will see on Friday includes 26 Freshman. So our actual team without them is about 50% smaller.

While this was not directed to me, I would like to reply. I am an alumni of William Blount and spent alot of time in making the decision of what was best for my children. Part of that process included speaking to parents of students at the high school. One such parent was also a teacher in the Blount County system who had two children who graduated from the school. When pressed for information about their experience the exact quote was, "If I were not a teacher for Blount County I would not have sent my children to William Blount." This individual was also an alumni of the school.

I would not consider sending our children to Alcoa to be "buying" their way to success. I would consider sending them to Alcoa to be doing what is best for them, which is my job as a parent. It is not my job to make Blount County schools better, it is the job of Blount County schools to solve the issues that drive parents to move their children to better schools. Why would I choose to send my children to a school which is overcrowded and performs at a lower academic level? Why if they have a passion for football would I choose to send them to a school where they have little chance for success? Why would I not choose a small school with outstanding academics and a disciplined, well coached football program? There is no "buying" success at Alcoa, the academics are challenging, the football is demanding and there is no easy ride to success. But the best thing about being at Alcoa is the feeling of family, that is truly priceless.

Austin Tallent's name was called for the award and he was holding the trophy after the game when I congratulated him. Must have all been my imagination! Epperly from CAK won as Offensive MVP.... 3A rules!

I was only pointing out that our opponent hoped to catch the F5 "flat", hoped that they would be overlooked and instead made many choices that fired our team up instead. I never said our team has not made the same mistake. We also made a choice at Maryville to bring our helmet and we lost that game as well.

Good Luck Maryville! Bring another Gold Ball back to Blount County.

I'm sure you only take it to those places that have given you permission. Too bad it won't be Cookville.

Best ways to lose a game..... 1.Chant "We run this ship" prior to game start. 2. Bring your helmet to our field, (our players considered this a sign of disrespect and any hope of their "overlooking" your team was lost.) 3. Have your band play during our Tornadoe warning in a sad attempt to drown it out. The team who showed no respect and little class lost tonight.

An Alcoa hater hiding behind the key board with intent of doing damage to Alcoa as a supposed "fan"? It is intresting to note that if you really are such a long time Alcoa fan, why did you just show up on here in the last month? Come clean hater!

Still doesn't make much sense, but I will take your word for content. I doubt my son could make heads or tails out of " I doubt team Alcoa is as wondering of Polk as FANS Alcoa is". I really don't wonder much about Polk at all, we won't be seeing them because they won't make it past CAK.
