  1. On Veterans Day perhaps we can spend some time today remembering some former players who served their country providing our freedom and possibly paying the ultimate sacrifice. The Captain of my high school team served as a Marine aviator. Tracy Farris, thank you for your service. Keenan Reynolds, thank you for making us proud at Navy.
  2. I can't speak with authority regarding the accusations of cheap and dirty play in the past. However, the Captain of this year's team has been offered admission to the United States Naval Academy. I think we can all agree Navy only offers young men of high character, honor and integrity admission to their academy. So when you look at number 3 on Goodpasture's team try and remember one day he might either be a Naval aviator or maybe perhaps a Navy Seal who will be willing to give his life for his country. He's also the young man responsible for leading his team and setting the right example on the football field. With that said, I would suggest Grundy County not worry too much about how Goodpasture is going to conduct itself and rather spend it's tine focusing on stopping the Wing-T.
  3. Thank you very much. Competition is what builds character. Ideally, you go out there and lay it on the line and shake the man's hand on the other side when it's all over. Unfortunately, someone has to lose. But sports, especially football teaches so many life lessons. Milan's reputation in a good way speaks for itself. I would hope ours does too. Tomorrow night at about 10pm it's going to stink for one of the teams. But I have total confidence both sides are going to leave it all out on the field and conduct themselves as gentlemen. I'm sure all the fans will be passionate and show sportsmanship. Again, safe travel for the Bulldog faithful. Prayers again for no injuries. When it's all over Friday night may the West side unite in support for it's representative in Cookeville.
  4. You're very welcome. We're just glad we don't have to make that long drive for a change. By the way, dress warm. Our visitors have always commented how the cold wind blows up under the bleachers. Regarding any stuffing kicking, I haven't seen Milan play so any prediction on my part would be totally blind. I'll say this. I've felt all year Pearl Cohn would face Alcoa in Cookeville. They've got D1 talent and their kids are tough as nails. Yet we were able to beat them. If you come to Goodpasture and beat us you've got quite a ball team. I can tell you I'll tip my hat, congratulate you and hope you slay Goliath.
  5. Forgot to add seating capacity. Visitor side is 800, home side is 2800.
  6. Hey Singjuice, I just pulled up hotel options in Goodlettsville. There's a Marriott Courtyard at 865 Conference Drive. Conference Drive is right by Rivergate Mall. I wouldn't suggest anything on Dickerson Road near Goodpasture. FB Girl and others might have more suggestions. Be safe with your family coming in.
  7. For those of us who have been following the Goodpasture program since the 70's we remember the hospitality we've enjoyed as we've made trips out west. In the late 70's the folks in Lake County fed us catfish. When we've been to Martin, Camden, Huntingdon and Milan the folks have been super nice to us especially regarding restaurants we've visited. With that in mind I wanted to give our Milan friends wishes for safe travel and secondly some dining considerations if you plan on grabbing a bite once you get to Madison. In Madison on Gallatin Road there's several fast food choices,a Shoney's and a Picadilly. On Dickerson Road near the Old Hickory Blvd intersection there's a Sonic, Jack in the Box, meat and three and a very very small Chinese restaurant. If you're traveling on I65 and you go past the Old Hickory Blvd exit the next exit is to Rivergate Mall. On one hand Rivergate will have tons of fast food and sit down dining choices. On the other hand it's going to be really busy with lots of traffic because it's Black Friday. Anyway, FYI Milan fans. Since we've made the 2 plus hour trip to Milan several times I thought I'd offer some suggestions to help you out if you're hungry and you have some time to eat before the game. Of course, the concession stand is an option too. Again, be safe traveling. Prayers for no injuries so that the west bracket might be respresented at full strength in Cookeville. Go Cougars!
  8. Go Panthers! I hope Coach Hayes breaks in the new basketball facility with a victory and I hope your play against Greeneville is Magnificent.
