tistheseason, were you at 5 guys burgers before the game friday night?

Ive only seen them play a few times this year but I can say I was very impressed with them last night. I saw the Howard game and it was a nightmare. I was very shocked last night at how well they have responded to all the adversity this season. They looked like a very good football team last night and should have won the game. Thats the way it goes I guess, hopefully things will improve for them next year. Maybe all these close calls will light a fire in them and they will live in the weight room between now and next season. That and the return of a few injured guys and maybe some that are not playing could turn this thing around.

There probably were men downfield but if you didnt see it during the play and call it you cant and dont rely on the opposing coach to call it for you. lol

Wow! I dont like to second guess coaching but that was crazy. Up 21-7 and Hixson hasnt stopped you all night. The only way they get back in the game is with turnovers and instead of pounding the ball you come put throwing? At least pound the ball and eat the clock up and make them earn it, dont give them a pick 6 and then turn around and give them incredible field position the next possession with more passing. Now some of the blame has to go on the Qb, he should have never thrown those passes but if they would have stayed in the I and ran #9 down their throat you wouldnt have been in that situation. He ran all over them in the first half and might have carried the ball 2-3 times in the second half. CRAZY!!! Also sweeps to the right towards their tiny corner worked all night. Their defensive ends were crashing and not containing and their corner was mismatched all night on the run or pass. They only threw on him one time and it was a long touchdown pass and he wasnt within 10 yards. That game should have never been lost by Central. Im not sure what was up with the phantom penalty call on the botched punt either. How do they call it a first down, spot the ball and set the chains and then let the opposing coach come onto the field and talk them into calling a penalty 5 minutes after the play? If you dont see a penalty and throw a flag how can you come back and call something you didnt see?

39-21 an 18 point difference and he thinks you should have won. I guess viewing the games through his purple colored glasses means that game that isnt a 20 point difference means you should have won. Heck, I guess you should have won every game, they were all 0-0 at one point.

[ Like I said, this iow the worst year for Cjhattanooga football in 20 years. Everyone of those teams is way down but yet they still beat you. Im not degrading anyone, Im just saying you dont have the talent. You could have won some more games but that doesnt mean you were better than them. I bet their coaches are saying the same thing you are and wondering how in the heck you played them that close. The comment about the kids from Harrison was in response to someone elses post, if you read the quoted comments above the posts surely you can understand that.

Actually Im pretty knowledgeable and Im very knowledgeable about those kids. There are some great kids on that team but they do now have the size, strength, athletic ability or depth to be a 7 win team with the kids on the team now. Thats no knock against them as individuals or their work ethic its just a cold hard fact. I doubt anyone who has seen them play other than a parent would say otherwise. Lets face it, almost every team they have played other than Hixson is not as good as they have been in the past and they still cant win. They just do not have the athletes needed to win on a consitent basis. I gurantee you if they had won any of those games the opposing coaches would have felt they let a winnable game slip away. I dont think one single coach that beat you thinks they got lucky or stole one from you.

Not in a million years could this team win 7 games. No knock on the kids but you have unrealistic expectations.

Actually the juniors , sophmores and a few fershmen were on teams growing up that won the championship 4 years in a row and had the best talent in Chattanooga hands down. They beat everyone they played including the city league teams badly. The other Harrison team at the time was also very good and they often faced off in the championship game against each other. The kids then won at the middle school level as well. One of those kids now starts at east hamilton and is one fo the best in the city at his position, one starts at Signal Mtn and is one of the best in the city at his position, several others are at Baylor, Ooltewah, Notre Dame. The problem is keeping the talent there. Then you have all world safety who is at Ridgeland and centrals Qb is at Ridgleand. Now Centrals schedule was pretty weak and they had a chance to win 6-7 games but some of the remaining kids were kicked off for disclipinary actions. This remaing group of kids had little chance to win and anybody that thinks differently knows 0 about football. Did they lose a couple of games they could have won? yes, they did, but at no time have they been the best team on the field. I dont think anybody could win with the talent, size and depth they have now.

Did him posting this cause you some kind of harm? He clearly stated what the post was about and you chose to open it. There should be only one forum for all wrestling. We dont have enough involved or knowledgeable people and topics to need numerous forums.

But Elder is faster and quicker. Elder runs like an antelope and has a second gear like no other. I will admit Hurd looks pretty dang fast himself on film . Obviously with his length it would be hard to be as quick as Elder. Nobody can catch Elder in Tennessee and that includes this big name college prospects he plays against. Two different types of players but both very very good. I would be willing to bet at whatever colleges they end up at Elder will be a corner because they will say he's too small and Hurd will be a receiver because they will say hes too tall. I will say this though. Elder has suprising power for his size and is great at runs in the middle and Hurd from what Ive seen is more elusive than you would think for someone his size. Tremendous players!

E.B "Red" Etter- Coached at Chattanooga Central High school and Baylor from the 40's to the early 80's. Retired as the 3rd most winningest coach in TN. Not bad considering the majority of his coaching was done without the playoffs so there were only 10 games possible. He won 9 or 10 state championships at Central (which were voted on at the time) and I think one at Baylor and also a national championship. His Central teams played people all over the country because it was so hard to find competetion in Tn. They played teams from Miami Fl, Atlanta, New Orleans, Arkansas, Alabama teams every year in addition to the best from Memphis to Kingsport. Google his name and look at his seasons at central and who they played. Truly amazing.

lol, around and around we go. They also play Mba, Baylor, Mus, Brentwood which Beech doesnt play any of those caliber teams. Your not going to win this argument no matter how hard you try because its not possible. You listed all these players in Memphis and I showed you how Mus destroyed those teams. Then Ensworth destroyed Mus. That went right over your head. The bottom line is this. Yes,, Hurd is amazing but I would love to see him play against tougher teams to see where he ranks amongst the best. Just like Kimbro's stats versus his public school opponents and then the 50 yards he had against a d2 team. Big difference

I made the statement that Mr Hurd plays against weaker competetion than Mr Elder. You wanted to argue the fact. I listed division 1 players from just one of his opponents he played against to show you the level of talent in D2. You then wanted to list all the recruits from a whole city. lol. The funny thing is you even listed d2 schools. were you trying to prove my argument? You did a good job so thank you. In another post aboove you will see where Kimbro averaged over 200 yards against the public school teams and only gained 50 against Mus and make no mistake Mus isnt Ensworth. You are one of those people who would tell me its sunny if you were standing in the middle of a hurricane. Anyway, I think Hurd is the real deal and I would ove to see him play against better teams just to see where he is really at. Im not saying he wouldnt be dominant. Im just saying I would like to see where he really stands against the best of the best.

What d2 game shave you watched? I just gave some facts on another post. If you would like I will do for you as well. Off the top of my head though. 2 years ago when Maryville beat Smyrna in the championship 23-21 Ensworth beat them 30-14 the same year. Corn Elder had 198 yards on 22 carries and was a 160 lb sophmore. That same sophmore group that beat Smyrna are now seniors.

Hopefully this will put it in perspective for you. I will list the schools you named above as being "tough " competetion. Last year Mus played a lot of those schools. below was the score. Mus 38 Memphis Central 0 Mus 41- Memphis east 0 Mus 20 White Station 0 Mus 35 St benedict 0 do we see a pattern yet? While they may have good individuals, they quanity of talented players isnt even in gthe same ball park. Now lets realize Mus wasnt even in the top 2 in the D2 state. Their score against Ensworth: Mus 0 Ensworth 28

I just listed players from one team not a whole city. While their are tough individuals on many teams the depth of quality players isnt the same. I can assure you Ensworth would destroy every team they played in div 4a and 6a. Believe what you want but it would happen. Ive watched video on mr Hurd and he is quite impressive but his competetion to date isnt even decent. I woukld just like to see him play a top notch team. he may very well dominate that game too, he is very very good from what Ive seen. I think he would be much better running out of an I or behind the qb instead of the wing. He is way to tall to play wing. If you let that big boy get his shoulders square with the line of scrimmage quicker instead of running parallel to the line he would be even better. Ensworths d would hit him low because he is so tall and cant get his pad level low enough from the wing position. I am willing to bet if he goes to a big time school like Alabama or Lsu or somewhere like that he will be a receiver and not a rb. Mark my words on that one.
