  1. Considering that Polk County is the district champ (I know the district sucks) and the three seed, I would consider them to be favorite. KINGSTON has a shot against Polk County, not vice versa.
  2. If Austin-East ends up in Quad 2 this year it will be absolute murders row for the second year in a row.
  3. If he played for LFO in the spring then he shouldn't be eligible. Go to the school you're supposed to and things like this don't come up.
  4. The question at hand is Coach or Kids?? As with most things the answer probably lies somewhere in the middle. You cannot expect to compete in the game of football if you are outweighed on the O-line 20lbs per man. A player can play as hard as he can but in the game of football the guy that is playing just as hard with the 20 lb advantage is going to win EVERYTIME. Go back to the last long losing streak that central had in the early 2000's. Their linemen were tiny and the team couldn't compete. Futhermore, if you think central has good athletes, then you are not looking at their personnel objectively. It's not a knock on the kids at all it is a simple fact. They have no athletes. The question the coach has to answer is how to fix the current situation. Does he need to hit the halls and try to talk more kids into playing??? Football takes dedication year around, and if these "players" that aren't playing truley in their heart wanted to play, they would be out there. I also find it ridiculous for someone to question a coaches choice of words as a reason the team is succeeding or not succeeding. Canadian is spot on this one. Go to college and play a sport and you will think your first name is a cuss word if you go to some schools. Maybe its not the kids or the coach, maybe its the parents. You can get on here and read excuse after excuse from central fans. When little johnny goes home and hears mom and dad blaming everyone in the world then how is the player supposed to think any different???? Even former players get on here and try to justify quitting. justification = excuse and EXCUSES ARE FOR LOSERS. The central program will get turned around when the parents, players, and coaches ALL take RESPONSIBILITY for making the program a success.
  5. Pay no mind to smokinote, he just likes to stir the pot
  6. Im real happy for Cara. The chance for prolonged success at EH is so much greater there than at Rhea. Why would you not want to go somewhere where the $$$$$ is better, the talent pool is larger, and the parents are sane.
  7. Then you have not seen much baseball.
  8. Lets see here, two of McMinn County's 7 wins are against hmmm Soddy Daisy. 5AAA is pitiful this year compared to years past. If i were a trojan fan, i'd win something before i got on here and started popping off at anyone.
  9. This is no where close to how the tournament plays out. #1 Sequoyah plays the winner of Meigs/Sweetwater, and #2 Central plays #3 Polk County Saturday. From this point on it is a double elimination tournament with the higher seed hosting each game. Get your facts straight before posting up bad information.
  10. No one in district 5AA or 5AAA played yesterday due to the threat of storms. Teams didn't want to have to deal with the possibility of a rained shortened game. Game on at 7 tonight.
  11. Farragut 1 McCallie 0 Sam Campbell for mccallie threw a great game
  12. Stats are b.s. to college coaches. College coaches care about tools and how well a kid can compete against a certain level of competition. Perfect Game is the best there is for many reasons. Their tournaments attract the best teams in the country. Players can be evaluated against quality competition which is one reason why PG's scouting is so accurate and reliable. IMO Perfect game promotes the game of baseball, not individual players. I seriously doubt that you will go to a scorecard event and see John Cohen, Todd Raleigh, John Pawlowski, or Mike Fox watching the same game, like you would a PG event. Futhermore, you don't have to pay a cent to to perfect game to get your name on an all-american team or any watch list.
  13. If central starters weren't sitting a third of the game it would have been 20...at least. Cannon should be glad the refs kept it as close as they did. with that said its embarrassing more than one fan feels as if the referees were making calls in order to keep a game competitive.
  14. Glock is right crownover is the best in the area. Actually ringgold prob has the three best pitchers in the chattanooga area. The bottom line is that there are no good pitchers in chattanooga. U have to go outside the city to find the best pitching
  15. You are right. In Southeast tennessee i know of very few leagues for middle to high school aged kids to play. Travel baseball is a good deal if it isn't "daddy" ball and you have good coaches. However there are A LOT of families that can't sacrifice the money or time to travel all over the place to play the game. It is taking a toll on the overall talent pool as well. From what I see, the best players now days are as good if not better than say 10 years ago. But IMO a kid that I would consider to be an average ball player today has nowhere near the skill set that the same caliber of player had 10 years ago... I think it directly coincides with player development between the ages of 13-16... or lack there of
  16. Polk scrimmage for this saturday is moved to friday @ 430 at McMinn County. Polk scrimmages Murray Feb. 26 at home
  17. Who is the new meigs coach going to be??
  18. It is pure robbery to get into any summer ball tournament. A person can watch a SEC baseball game for less than it costs to attend most all of these tournaments, especially if you just go for one day. Ill give the 'clones a pass on this. One thing for sure is that the talent level has dropped from the hay day of the Cyclones (early 2000s). I don't think the quality of the tournaments they play in is what it used to be from talking to people that have known the program for a long time. So it does raise the question... have the 'clones sold out to the almighty dollar instead of pursuing the stiffest competition? Their oldest team (18U) isnt even the best team in Chattanooga.
