  1. looking forward to tonite, I hope Jeff County is at full strength...
  2. duh, they are quite good in spots and well coached. I looked at catholic duals and some of the experienced guys for Jeff in the upper weights were missing hope they get better soon really want to see one of the upper weight matches Tuesday night
  3. Ha - calling me out eh? well I think Sci hill has some strengths but I am not sure it lines up from top to bottom well enough yet, the DB match has an element of bonus points will win it because the strength at weight classes wont be beat on either side. This is becoming a pin to win region, which is how I always taught my two boys to wrestle. Looking forward to Jeff County Tuesday night cause I have not seen them at all, but my oldest was helping with young wrestlers at the Indian so I got some feedback on DB as if I didn't know them pretty well already... The out of state competition has been excellent for development and this weekend at Berea was tough top to bottom so great start in gauging individuals and toughening young kids. Pretty clear the Hill has some outstanding individuals, and some who really finally put it together this year and have reached a new level. I love to see that kind of development...
  4. In years past I could keep up with wrestlers and teams across state through easy to use scorebook which I enjoyed. I can log into TRACK but I cant figure out how to "track" how the top 10 or 20 in the state at a weight class are doing. Or I cant seem to figure out how to use track I guess to follow a team. Am I missing some simple easy way in Track to look stuff up like scorebook used to provide ie. top 20 wrestlers in wins at a weight class in TN?
  5. As I recall the one standout I heard of - Cooper Williams SH beat Bynum DC... Talked to some coaches not alot of bigs participated except those who didnt play football so one I was hoping to see didnt happen but regular season comming quick... I really missed most of the matches - back and bleachers kind of thing... cant handle flat wood bleachers anymore... Its either stand or leave from me the rest of the way...
  6. Different venue for state girls freestyle instead of traditional a follow-up tournament of division state top four in all classes for a single champion "super state" reduce duals by one week to accommodate the "super state" tournament...
  7. I think I like the concept. Yeah there is the 195 error Judo refers to but that will work itself out as was already demonstrated preseason... but I give the rank guy credit and it will become clearer as the season matchups take place. nothing wrong with starting somewhere...
  8. that is excellent!! Love to see the upper weights get a little tougher regionally... Looking forward to seeing him in a match or two...
  9. not that I want it to steam by, as life moves to quick as it is, but cant wait till it starts... Even in our little corner of the state, of questionable relevance to some, I do love to see the wrestlers compete and win or lose give their best in the contest... One on one, their is no greater sport or 6 minute test of your heart... Win or lose its how you compete and did you leave it all out there that matters!!
  10. I am all about getting the toughest matches you can to improve during the regular season... I am sure most coaches see it the same.. I dont think Palmer will have a regional challenge at 170 if thats where he goes... and if English is at 182.
  11. Hard to get my head around not seeing Austin on the mat, for the first time in nine years... Is it missed more by the kid or the dad?... I know the answer rhetorical...
  12. at the preseason Bristol Tourney this weekend I got there after the first round but I saw Lane SR Sci-hill who I think is in the 130's decide to let it go, and that was the best wrestling I have ever seen him do live. Very good... I heard he lost his first match, thus givien the choice to wake up - what I saw was that he did... Also Eric Yother SR Sci-hill is a natural, shame he was a late starter but he is quite good again in the low middle weights, and Cooper Williams looked pretty good also in the low weight range at the Hill... But your right Newcoach I am still out of the loop and wondering what the line-up top to bottom will look like... There are a few scattered in there that regionally are as close to automatic wins as you ever can be... But there may be some gaps...
  13. Outstanding understanding of the key to wrestling and philosphy in life!
  14. So then Newcoach back to the Regional discussion how do you see things lining up? I just dont know much about the teams on your end of the region, but I suspect Jefferson is improving. Score aside last year I saw improvements among them and determined kids with I think a pretty decent coach
  15. I generally dont get into this with moronic half cocked statements, but if you bother to read the discussion was between two Region 1 fans - talking about REGION 1 dual competition. The discussion was about dominant REGION 1 wrestlers relative to Region 1 duals... Busy body... And furthermore our regional successes are relative to past region 1 success, if you are so hyper focused on your regions superiority frame it in a discussion about your region like we were doing amongst ourselves, and of course i will leave you alone... Lastly having three returning placers each from different schools is an improvement and is a good restart with me in comparison to recent history...
  16. Uneducated outsider guess - Cooper williams and eric yother gonna be very productive regionally in the lower weights, middles Lane, Rolston, Jessie surely are making a leap this year with all their experience, strength is pinners in the upper weights Hardin will be very productive and tech or pin most if he is healthy, the bash brothers Nyguen and Bagley interchangeable because they weigh the same can slide throughout 82 to 220 for matchups - Nyguen is gonna be a force in the region this year (worked harder than any of them this summer) at 82 or 95 and Bagley gonna dominate the region and slide up to 220 anytime we need 6 to win a dual, then the bonus points if Burress is back at heavy he should be able to win most if not all regional heavyweight matches. Some middle schoolers moving up been in the system 2 years with Coach Price should make the remaining difference...
  17. Some our top regional guys going to wrestle Saturday in Bradley duals under Bryson Begley coaching, Bryson is an outstanding high charachter wrestling Mountaineer at WVU, nice of him to lend his time to these wrestlers.
  18. Sincerely asking not knowing the longer term history, how long has it been since we had so many potential state finalists and placers in this region? not discounting what the split did at all - but split or not there are three at least from different schools that would have a sincere "no pumping needed" shot at state finals split or no, and a significant number of placers heading into the year not just developing through the year...
  19. since there are only a few of us I hope you all don't mind putting the past threads behind us. New year looking forward to our chats and opinions for the future. As is the norm Science Hill will lead the way with I think a more contentious opposition than the past thanks to upcomming Tenn High, Jeff County, and to some degree but less DB who has sincere potential state champ on the team. Just my two cents hope you are having a great summer!
  20. got it i was thinking raulston was Junior confused him and Kennet
  21. what year is Raulston? Also Im confused did West out of Cleveland graduate this year he will certainly have some very good D1 opportunities.
  22. all i know is Sci Hill went and Pig Forge obviously there - I heard from Hunter last night after I asked on here if anyone knew anything, 2-1-1 periods. Hunter pinned first guy quick and then beat Pig forge Breeden 5-0 and Ankhua Nyguen beat a pretty decent kid named Brett Brown (dont know what school) in the 195 lbs. area. Dont know anything else or about anything further. Was hoping to hear about other matchups across the weights too...
  23. would love to hear if there are any good matchups at Pigeon Forge Duals this weekend
  24. young man you are very good keep after it and work hard and certainly dont care about a bunch of geisers and our opinions. None of this matters, just kills a little time till we get to watch the sport we love again. You are as good not as your last match - but as your next match when in the sport, the sky is the limit all up to you!. Have a great year!
  25. Get well Storm! kid is just a nice young man and always smiling when I have seen him, high hopes for his recovery!
