  1. I wouldn't wish this on anyone. I looked into the eyes of the kids when this all went down. It was horrible. The next coach will inherit a great group of hard working, athletic and disciplined kids. There are 60 student athletes in Marshall County who now do not trust the people that are supposed to be doing right by THEM. THEY gave everything that was asked of them and THEY are the ones suffering. Great post Wise Man. The players have yet to get an answer to their simple questions>>>>>>>>>>> WHY? Why do this to us? Why do this to our team? How can people who are asleep at 6 a.m., while we are busting our tails and being the responsible young men, do this to US? We had a goal, did anyone ask us how this would affect us? Do WE not MATTER? (These are questions I have heard from some of them)This is my last post on this subject. It will not be hard for ANYONE locally to figure out who I am, and I like it that way. I will ALWAYS be on the side of the kids.If I ever see anyone involved in this needing help, my answer will be "Call your lawyer."
  2. We don't know yet. They are taking apps. up until July 3rd. Hopefully we will have someone good apply. The kids have said that they don't want a lazy coach, they want one that will keep up the tempo that they are used to.
  3. Everyone here in MC knows how our good ole boy system works. It doesn't mean we like it. You are correct, good coaching prospects have actually gotten up and walked out laughing when told the salary for the job. I have been told that surrounding counties pay about double when you figure in everything. We won't find another coach that will take a 30-40% cut in pay to coach our kids. If Coach T was all about money, he wouldn't have been here in the first place. The B.O.E. just screwed about 10-15 of THEIR student athletes out of football scholly's over the next 4 years. Coach T's word went a long way with recruiters. He ran his practices like a D-1 program and coaches all over the country respect his opinion. I am glad he got to at least see my sons work ethic as an incoming freshman. I feel that I can send him film in the future and will help us.I wish him good luck, he is one of the best I have ever been around.
  4. Everything was above the table.Taxes were taken out. Click on the link in the previous posts and watch the interview. Coach T answers every question. This had been in place since 2007. How were the current coaches supposed to know it wasn't approved BEFORE they even got here? Do any of us ask the payroll department if they have approved our pay? It would be like being let go because the higher ups at your company didnt approve something correctly back in 1978.
  5. Coach T did an interview that can be seen on IHIGH.COM. Skip ahead to about the 8 minute mark.He tells his side of the story. Nobody knows what is going on here. I think we may be down to one assistant coach. The kids have no idea what they are supposed to do. We learned that the 7 on 7 tourney was cancelled from refs that were supposed to work it. These kids worked their tails off for Coach T and now they have no one to turn to. The community is furious with this move. It seems the people in charge have either hid, or put their heads in the sand. Not a peep from the higher ups. In fact, about 30 players went to the B.O.E. to ask why their coach was gone and the director of schools handed them a piece of paper and told them to "talk to my lawyer"....the kids called and got a "NO COMMENT." and a click on the other end. The kids should come first, the kids in this situation have gotten the shaft. If you don't believe me, ask any one of them that came to practice everyday and gave a 110%.
  6. Dont'a Hightower- Marshall County-Patriots
  7. Marshall had a good scrimmage against Lincoln County Friday. It was tied 2-2 with LC scoring late to win. I didn't get to go but I was told MC had about 30 dressed and LC had close to 60(I don't know if that is true)....Baseball and minor injuries had about 10 from MC sidelined. There are about 20-25 incoming Freshman that were very talented last year, some of them may contribute, but MC is a very sophomore heavy squad, the core of the team will be its rising sophomores, which many have been starters since their Freshman year. The backfield is absolutley loaded with talent. Offensive line is big and tough, very quick and well coached.Coaches are excited about this group. There will be some very good teams this year......good luck to everyone!!!
  8. I don't know how they will do, but I got to watch Bailey Byrum out in Arizona go against some of the best in the country.Bright future for this smart(LEGIT D-1 prospect), 6-5 315 pound 8th grader. If the rest of the team works as hard on their craft as this kid does, they will be fine.My son was fortunate enough to get invited also and the Tennessee kids made some noise out there. Good luck to the Byrum's and the whole Sweetwater community from Lewisburg,TN!!!
  9. Sports talk on WJJM in about 15 minutes @ 7pm......
  10. Bad news at Cornersville, Joe is out for the season. Very unfortunate. His back up is a freshman.
  11. I listened to the game on WJJM and the commentators were shocked. It took them a good 10 minutes to believe what they were seeing. The kids have worked extremely hard and look to be better than some believed. They had a couple of players out that will be available by first game also.Sophomore class is going to be special.
  12. From James Wilhoite's blog>>>Tuesday, June 7, 2011Nashville Kicking Lessons On Friday and Saturday I did kicking lessons in Nashville and I was certainly impressed with the results. I worked with one of the top junior kickers in the state of Tennessee and quite possibly the best sophomore kicker in the state. Overall it was a great weekend of lessons despite the fact that temperatures rose to the high 90's. And even though the temperatures were rising, it was the kickers and punters that were heating up. Ryan Jenkins (Mt. Juliet High School) is a rising junior and had a very successful season last year. He went 8 for 8 on field goals as a sophomore and shared Region Special Teams Player of the Year honors with UT-Martin signee Jackson Redditt. Ryan just started kicking last year and he is just now hitting his stride. I am excited to see how he does this year after a full year of following my training program. He definitely has a chance to earn All State honors this year and with some hard work he could be in line for a kicking scholarship. Next up is Aaron Medley (Marshall Co.). Aaron is entering his sophomore year and is quite a talent. He is tall and slender (approx. 6'3 170 lbs) right now but has an unbelievable ability to strike the ball. We went through a kicking workout during the lesson where he made all his field goals from 30-50 yards. After a field goal workout we went over kickoffs. He was hitting the ball 62-67 yards consistently with anywhere from 3.8-3.9 hang time. Remember Aaron's name because you will be hearing it on Saturday's in the Fall in a few years!
  13. Scott, my son plays for LMS and the coaches wanted him to try punting and kick offs this year. Peyton being a LB/FB, does not have much experience in kicking. We stopped by the HS field were Aaron and his coach were working. I told Pey, "go catch one of his punts, it won't hurt you." Aaron kicked the ball out of sight, Pey ran under it and it knocked him down...lmao....I said "maybe it will hurt you".... coach Turchetta will use him more this year......he is an absolute weapon.....this group in another year should be really good......
  14. Gerry it is fun to watch talented kids no matter where they play. Years ago my friends and I would go watch teams we had no ties to just to see great talent. It is fun..lol......I wish your team well!!!
  15. Oh, well, ummm Aaron Medley beats Alabama's signee and more college football kickers to win kicking competition, and gets a #2 ranking.........James Wilhoite says "this kid is better than I was as sophomore,he definitley is talented." sorry I used the wrong word on a discussion board.......loosen up. He was making 40+ yard fg's in middle school and kicking it out of the EZ is no problem. He is a good kid with a great attitude and great grades. Just trying to give a shout to a KID that has worked hard.
  16. Congratulations to Aaron Medley of Lewisburg on this fine accomplishment!!
  17. I was there for some of it. Cornersville beat Cannon County 5-1? They beat Oakland 2-0? Not exactly sure, I heard they ran into a buzzsaw against Shelbyville after I left. The rest of the day was cancelled due to heat.
  18. The kids are having a great time!! The coaching is unbelievable. You can see these kids getting better. I have been watching the 7th graders and the team looks good. They get to play on Carson Newman's field and they are excited. If any of you want to see 2 good middle school football games, come out Saturday at 4pm. The 8th graders are MONSTERS!!!!
  19. One week to go before the TN/KY kids go to camp. I would like to thank you guys for doing this. Everyone is excited about the week of practice and activities. The games should be fun. It looks like the players from FLA/GA are ready to represent their states also. Did you guys ever announce who signed on for entertainment? Thanks!!
  20. Hey Rockytop....I heard there will be some representative from some major publications and companies (Tom Lemming, Unapproved Website)@ the games. Is this just a rumor? Thanks!!
