  1. Wet TTU turf is a different monster. Worst turf field you can play on. Sections of the field you used to be able to stick your fingers underneath the openings in the turf.
  2. Thanks! If COVID will stay away, he’d be alright. Hopefully he stops getting bigger so I don’t start looking like the little brother.
  3. Duke outperformed all expectations that were placed on him. It helped us that people overlooked him. He hurt a lot of teams.
  4. Yes lol wasn’t real sure what had happened mid-play until they told me on the sideline. I knew something big happened because almost everyone stopped.
  5. So what you’re saying is you have the best defense along with the best offense in 1A..???? I’d say I have to agree lol
  6. Really hope to be in the stands watching some good football this weekend with good weather hopefully. The thing about Cookeville, if they’re calling for rain then it’s going to rain. If they’re calling for no rain, then there’s a good chance it’s still going to rain. Maybe we’ll all get lucky and see some good weather and football. As a player who had the chance to play in 2 state championship games... I hope these players don’t take it for granted. It’s truly a once in a lifetime opportunity for most. Regardless win or lose, you have to find a way to make the most of it and have fun while you’re doing it.
  7. Yeah the only way Pitt is getting exposed in the back end is by a true passing QB with 2-3 good receivers. Even then you gotta protect enough to keep the pressure off. If Fayetteville is forced to throw quite a bit, they’re in for a long night. Pitt’s pressure will be too much if the Tigers can’t run the ball.
  8. In the first quarter, we ran gut in the A gap. Brant Lawless (the nose guard) tackled me, the center, and the fullback all-in-one for a loss. We had some pretty big guys on our team for a 1A school. Probably one of the biggest that year... with the exception to NCS. Pretty sure they had at least 5+ D1 guys on the field every snap. They had substitutes coming in the game that I played with in college if that tells you anything. We thought we were big and fast until we stepped on the field with them.
  9. Yes Dresden in ‘16 was a tough one. I’m one of the younger posters on here. That was my senior year in ‘16 vs Dresden.
  10. We’ll see. Meadows is a tough back to keep in check for an entire game.
  11. Haven’t seen Peabody enough to make a prediction but I will say... Meigs has a good defensive line and loves to run the ball down your throat. They did just that against the future 1A 2020 State Champs this year along with many other teams. However, in big games like this, a team can rarely be 1-dimensional and win the game. I see Meigs having to use their receivers and backs out of the backfield to keep the LB’s and Secondary honest and not keying on the run every play. Making the trip last year will also help them settle in faster this go around. Hope to see a good one and as always... bring gold back East
  12. Wouldn’t be surprised to see SP come out a little giddy for their return to Cookeville and make a few mistakes early but from what I’ve seen of Fayetteville, SP will win this one if they stay with the ground game (#4 and #2). Early prediction.... SP by 21
  13. Might have been mentioned already but don’t feel like searching. Is there a live stream for this game other than radio?
  14. Good luck to both teams tonight. Hope to see a great game. Will be tuned in. Coalfield won’t have enough in the tank for this one. Could see a competitive game in first quarter but SP rolls after that. Changing my prediction.... SP by 35
  15. They usually have a link that they’ll post on their Facebook page. The link was on CoachT last week but if it isn’t this week, you can search BBBTV on Facebook and be able to find it.
  16. The 3rd quarter was pretty good for them. The rest of the game Meigs had their way.
  17. Agreed. We did have a lot to do with that but that was because we could sling it around as well as run the ball. If y’all could’ve made us a little more 1 dimensional, probably would’ve been SP at state and not us. Also, from what I saw in the Meigs game this year, SP is definitely bigger than past teams they’ve had and I would agree overall better defensively. The thing I’m sure a lot would agree on would be the 2 things that have hurt y’all in the past.... pass defense and sometimes play calling. Either way that’s in the past and this is present... CF more than likely won’t have a shot in this one especially after halftime.
  18. This SP team is head and shoulders the best out of the East and IMO the West as well. I’ve been a part of really good teams and have played against some good CF and SP teams. I’ve only been able to watch this Pirates team play 2-3 games this year but (feel free to correct me).... I just don’t think this year’s SP team is quite to the level of the SP team I played against in 2016 and can even be compared to last year’s SP team. I’m only going off the few games I’ve watched of them this year but there are still some things holding them back to being at that level. Their defense this year might be better than what I played against but the offense is just a touch behind from what it was in ‘16... this is all opinion though. Another point... the main thing keeping these small 1A teams from being really really good is the lack of passing teams they face throughout the season. Year in and year out it has came back to bite a lot of teams just because they haven’t had to defend the pass almost the entire season before the late rounds of the playoffs... this is for all teams in 1A. If SP would’ve had a strong pass defense, they would have been to Cookeville in the past couple years, if not multiple times. Now CF can’t really throw the ball so I don’t see that hurting them this year, but in years past, that has been their Achilles heel. Other than that, it’s tough to stand toe to toe against them.
  19. I know it’s early in the week but does anyone know if this game will be live-streamed anywhere other than NFHS network?
  20. Coalfield will have some success in the 1st Quarter I believe just because they haven’t seen the type of offense CF runs. They do a decent job of running that misdirection offense. SP will catch on and pull away. I see a 21-28 point win for the Pirates. Too much speed for CF to keep in check.
  21. We played them closer but they still ran the ball down our throat. They’ve got a solid ground game.
