  1. 5 minutes totip-off. Score knotted at 0-0.
  2. If I can remember, I'll update every quarter. If I don't put anything at all, it's either because we're getting beat or I was just too excited to remember. I hope it's the latter!
  3. I know every player and coach on the team. I promise you, they are not overconfident. They know how good Cannon is. Especially Abby Sissom. Central's attitude has never been to overlook an opponent. There are upsets but not generally because they've overlooked anybody. I'd say this game is about as even as it gets. It doesn't hurt one bit to be at the RoundHouse. Either way it goes, it's gonna be a good time!
  4. That's a very good point 'woodvegas'. I've been to Livingston during tournament time, (Will be there this Monday night for boy's substate) and I must say it's just ridiculously hard to play there. I believe that's why Central and Livingston fans have so much respect for each other. We're mirror images of each other. Lot's of tradition, passion, and success. Livingston. I don't "like 'em", but I respect 'em.
  5. I don't know why you'd cower under your bed because of what somebody said online. That'd be just silly. The comment was in direct reaction to you telling everybody about how you were ranked #1 and undefeated with nothing to show for it. You just sound ridiculous. I'm not a 'Betsy' as you so put it. Just passing through reading a butt hurt fan's efforts to not look like a jerk after getting beaten. It would probably be best if you just kept quiet until Grainger gets that championship. You're losing credibility with every letter you type. I'm from southeast Tennessee where we have to go through the Livingstons and Cannons and Uppermans every single year just to get to state, not Loudon and a nearly .500 Chuckey-Doak. Btw, we've been to state 5 straight years. It doesn't get any easier once you finally break through and get there. I sincerely hope Grainger does well unless we run into them. Grainger has beaten "that other team" from McMinn County. I'd like to see how they'd do against THE team from McMinn County. Good luck against CAK. They have a girl from this area who is heck of a player but tore her ACL earlier in the season. Just a freshman. You'll probably be seeing her more than you want to in the coming years.
  6. True. That was my sophomore year at McMinn Central. We hopped out to a 10-0 lead against Livingston to start the championship game. Heartbreaking loss to a great team. I respect the heck out of Livingston and love their tradition, but I haven't 'liked' LA since that game.
  7. I'd trade rankings and records for championship trophies any day. Keep your cupcake, trophyless, undefeated season...
  8. ^^^TRUTH^^^ And I hate/respect every team in 8AA Go Chargerettes!
  9. #1 and can't win your region championship. Good for you...
  10. Very well said. We ARE loud, supportive, crazy, and on occasion in very small factions, can cross the line at times. You will always have that in any basketball school with a long winning history and tradition. Every team loves to win. Only some can do it consistently through the years. Two of those teams are going to play Saturday night. I'd recommend getting there as early as possible. Once that gate opens, it will fill up fast. A word to visitors, generally, visiting fans sit in the area behind the visiting bench. Its open seating, obviously, but if you wanted to sit with your own fans, that's where most will be. I'll be sitting in the first reserve seat on the right behind the home bench. Come say "hi". Good luck in your travels and in the game! GO CHARGERETTES!!!
  11. What a dumb thing to say about records. In tournament time, you win or lose. You don't get to trade in regular season wins for a pass to the state tournament. You have to beat the teams you face. Congrats on an undefeated regular season, but it means nothing now. Grainger lost to Elizabethton by 15. In tournament standards, that means Betsy is better. As if it matters, I'm an unbiased bystander from a little farm school in Englewood, TN called McMinn Central. Maybe we'll see one or both of you next week. Good luck!
  12. I believe you guys will get another one this year. I sure hope we can both say that. I've never seen Jaycee Coe play in person and would love to have that experience. Maybe next week in the Boro...
  13. That's a good question. I believe that loss was 2006/2007, the year after I graduated. I don't recall another time. In my opinion, there is no better a high school basketball experience than Sub-State at the Round House.
  14. How 'bout that "weak, wounded, and wore out little Bearden team?"
  15. Just a quick comment. I wonder if different Regions have different rules. Here in Region 3, we rotate every year. Odd years are hosted on District 5's side while District 6's side hosts on even years. Games are never, however, played at either team's home court (except for the 1st round in which the top seed had earned that right). I do find it quite odd that some schools get to host their own Region Championship. This year, being an odd year, the Region 3 championship is being held at McMinn County High School, NOT McMinn Central. The venue is officially neutral, but only 20 minutes away from McMinn Central. Last year, it was held at East Ridge High School. Region 3's championships are never held at a team's home court. Anybody know if each region is allowed to make their own regulations for this?
  16. Forgive me for bringing up old comments, BUT I was just wondering if you still think District 6 will run us off the floor? We beat Tyner by 33. Completely shut down Brainerd's offense. Playing Howard in Region 3 championship tomorrow night. Will we win? Who knows, but you've got some crow to eat for your comment.
  17. I'm sure your source was credible. you missed an incredible boys game. MC over Brainerd by ~ 10. Down 8 halfway through 4th. Great comeback.
  18. Last I was told (because I don't know anything about basketball) there were several ways to foul not resulting in free throws. All you have to do is count to see the foul count was way lopsided. I didn't slant anything. I stated an observation. I relayed something I had been told from a credible source never claiming it to be true, but worth telling. Why? Because I wanted to. You're right, McMinn got us once. I very well-officiated game I might add. So, I'll restate my original comment in a nutshell. Lopsided calls plus subpar play by Central resulted in a 7 point victory. They should have won by more. Not a slight toward Meigs. Just the truth. And AAA is supposed to be tougher. It's AAA. If I recall, Meigs got McMinn in one this year, too . Are you at McMinn tonight?
  19. And the head ref does indeed know Masengil. I "assure you."
  20. I don't recall saying anything about free throws sir. I said fouls. I also don't recall saying that the ref said anything. Read it again. I said combined with that and not playing very well, they won by 7. Do you just wait for me to say something so you can comment? I haven't read anything you've said this season positive about Central without an underhanded comment toward them to boot. I don't tell stories. It's the truth. There's only one team playing left from McMinn County. Obviously, your favorite team is out.
  21. That's right. Like I said, I'm not saying that that was the ref's intention; it just makes sense after the calls last night. My preseason prediction was that Cannon would win 4-AA, and we would play Livingston in sub-state. I'll stick with that. I admit, I know nothing about Westview. I mainly know about middle to East Tennessee teams. Don't know much about Grainger other than they are pretty good. We'll see if they have the experience to beat Betsy later this week. Grainger fans, please don't hate me. I'll gladly admit I'm wrong if I turn out to be. Elizabethton has the experience and history, though. Being from Central, teams that worry me: Livingston/Cannon - we just have history with them being neighboring regions CPA - something about the run they made last year scares me Westview - based solely on your testimony Who else should I be?
  22. McMinn Central is looking better and better. I haven't missed a game this year, so I have seen the progress. I like the quote above about being able to win even in adversity and when playing bad. That was the case last night against Meigs. I don't usually say things like this, but the refereeing was atrocious last night. Meigs had 15-20 more fouls called for them. Add that onto McMinn Central not hitting easy buckets under the goal, and you only get a 7 point win. Meigs is good, but MC should have won by 25+. I was told last night that the head ref has said before that he doesn't like Elizabeth Masengil's attitude and that she would never get a call from him. I'm not saying that is true or not because it is just hear/say for me, but watching the game, I can't argue against it. Masengil was beaten to death last night and hardly ever heard a whistle because of it. Watched a bit of the East Hamilton/Tyner game after and must say that I'm not too impressed. Should be at home for Sub-State this Saturday.
  23. They do. Morgan has been grooming the team often this season to work without her. I believe they can hold their own. Without Masengil completely? No. If she needs to sit awhile because of foul trouble? Yes. The bench is very deep. Plenty of players with state and tournament experience. Going to state every year for the better part of the past decade always helps with that experience.
  24. Brandi Goodman is indeed an outstanding player. I've seen her play at state the past two years. I wouldn't be surprised or angry if she won.
