  1. Congrats to both teams as well. Bradley was stacked this year, and Ben Jones has done an amazing job. I agree with cbg on the dynasty thing. A dynasty is when a team rules over everyone for an extended period of time. I looked up the state duals for the last 10 years. I don't see a real dynasty here, but actually more parity than some might realize. One thing you can give Coach Pat Simpson credit for is always having a good team. They have been in the finals 9 of the last 10 years and come away with 3 titles. That consistency is amazing. Among many other great coaching traits, that alone makes Pat Simpson the best coach in TN, but I think it might be a stretch to call him the best coach in the country. For example: Is he really better than Jeff Jordan up at St. Paris Graham? I guess I really don't know. 2008 Baylor over FR 2009 Baylor over FR 2010 FR over CBHS 2011 Baylor over CBHS 2012 CBHS over FR 2013 CBHS over FR 2014 Baylor over FR 2015 Baylor over FR 2016 FR over Baylor 2017 FR over McCallie
  2. Look, it's hardly worth locking horns over, because the match means nothing, but you said "And Berry was leading Duffy at 160 the entire match." In actuality, Duffy won the first 4-1, Berry won the second and was up by one, and the 3rd was scoreless when the fall occurred. Both are young wrestles and anything could happen the next time they meet.
  3. You are correct. AZN has a biased red-tinted view point. Pittway has a chance because he is 2-0 vs. the #1 from the west, so that one is not that crazy. Hardline would need a big upset. Dendy can't be counted out... he is tough. You're wrong on Berry. Were you there? Duffy got a takedown and back points in the first. He was up 4-1 at the end of the first. You just can't make stuff up. Father Ryan is the faviorte because they have 8 seniors! McCallie has 4?, CBHS 2?, and Baylor `1? FR wins again, but next year has to be a rebuilding year, right?
  4. You’re cherry-picking data. They have wrestled the past 5 seasons. 2012-13 Baylor beat Bradley when the dual was wrestled up in Johnson City before the Fandetti-Richardson. 2013-14 Baylor won 37-25 2014-15- Baylor won 35-22 2015-16- Bradley won 38-29 2016-17 Bradley won 43-30

  6. No, I am not aware of that. Are you sure that is the rule? I am aware that TN entered more than one in a couple weights. I mentioned in my post that is was evident that more than just our champ can compete. It is my understanding that TN only has 1 qualifier. I was told the extra guys received at-large bids. I do not know the details of how that works. I suspect that the prep committee will reward TN with another automatic spot if we are able to get more kids on the podium and more teams in the top 10. From the PrepNationals website: Thursday Registration Schedule (Num qualifiers) 5:30 Texas/NC/TN (3,1,1) 5:45 Maryland (6) 6:00 NJ/NY/DC (3,1,1) 6:15 NE (6) 6:45 Va (4) 7:00 Pa (6)
  7. No mention of team scores? Baylor 9th place (Top 10 for the 2nd staight year) Father Ryan - 19th McCallie- 20th Christian Bros- 100th Congrats to Baylor for representing the state of TN so well when they go out of state. Hopefully, if TN can get another team in the top 10 every year we can earn another qualifying spot. It is evident based on the results that more than just our state champ can compete.
  8. Based on the student sections, I'd say it is still a rivalry. But 14 in a row... I thought for sure this was the year McCallie knocked them off. They seem like the better team on paper. Why can't they get past Baylor? Coaching? Talent? Baylor just has their number? It amazes me that good wrestlers in Chattanooga still sign up to wrestle for McCallie unless they are a legacy.
  9. It was the right call in my opinion. Those of you that are arguing that it was not consistent with the rest of the match, look at it this way; If the whistle blows and the one wrestler moves backwards and does not create action do you hit him for stalling? No, he has to repeatedly back up before he gets hit. How about if a wrestle collar ties and plants his head in the others chest and blocks off? At first that can be looked at as defense, but it will eventually be called as stalling. It looked to me as the FR wrestler was initially trying to score early in the match but by the 3rd he realized that he could simply dive under and hold on. He was much quicker than the McCallie wrestler and that was his strategy to slow the match down. The McCallie wrestler was not offensive for most of the match but he never backed up. How can you expect the McCallie wrestler to create offense in the last min when the FR wrestler would dive in every time they were reset? It was stalling because the FR was only taking that shot to stop McCallie from scoring. No other reason. If he wanted to score he would of set it up and use much better technique. It takes a very knowledgeable ref to call that the right way.
  10. Very good team, but it would help if they had won a match up with a team outside of TN that is ranked in the Top 50. Rankings are never going to favor TN and it is going to require travel in order to get put on the map. It would also help if Soddy had individuals ranked by Intermat, as part of their team ranking process is based on how many individual kids ranked. For what I hear the match with Brandon was not close, no matter what the final score was.
  11. They are making fun of Tenn, in a way. The guys on Cornell's team gave him that name when he got up there. They have entered him by that name for a few years now. At least that is what I have heard, I am pretty sure his first name is not "Hicks" lol
