  1. I don't see grace scoring big numbers because they are more of a true wing t this year. I also think that Tellico has a shot it will take a great effort. Nothing but respect for Coach McKamey and the Rams but they are beatable this year just not sure who will do it......
  2. Being a Tellico guy I hope the Bears beat Basin but regardless I want this to become our yearly rival. Currently everyone hangs their hat on the SQHS game but they have 1200 students and we have 400. Sure we are county rivals but just cant hang with the big of a school. I have always loved playing Basin always been a hard nosed game and now we have Muliinax a former Basin coach it would be cool for this to develop into a nice rivalry... I believe Basin wins this one against Hayesville...Looking forward to the 12th of September.....See you guys then!
  3. I think one of the things that each high school needs is a good feeder program. We are starting to see it in baseball several years ago Madisonville started a middle school team and look at SQHS now. Tellico, Vonore, and the rest have picked up on this. But football our biggest sport is still stuck in rec league. Now dont get me wrong I am not a rec league basher but it is what it is. No consistency, weird, or out dated rules. Plus dont get me started on the out date equipment. If I had a child in a rec league I would look at their equipment for proper fit and proper condition. Also you are looking at a change in style of offense and defense based on the coach. We need a good program in middle school that is running the high school offense and defense or at least teaching good fundamentals so they can adjust quickly. Until this happens we will battle performance issues in school and not to mention the safety concerns.
  4. SQHS was very physical against the Bears. Tellico is not bad offensively and will show that this year. They surprised SQHS early but injuries and fatigue got the best of the Bears, a lot of that had to do with the fact that SQHS can pound the football and #76 and #40 are the real deal! I know nothing about WV so not sure how to call it but SQHS is not a bad team and #12 can fly if he gets on the edge he gone!
  5. I am still a firm believer that we have one of the toughest districts around. Pretty much top to bottom we have teams that can hang with you. I will take the Tigers over the Cats.....
  6. Scrimmaged Oakdale won 6-2....Scrimmaged Grace Baptist Chatt. won 3 or 4 TD's to 0 but it was more of a situation scrimmage than a game with Grace. They have looked decent up front and very strong at the skill position. Moved ball well with the 1's at the jamboree......
  7. Well the Bears had a decent showing in the jamboree and at both scrimmages. They seem to have good skills guys, but have lost some size in the line. But Mullinax has a way to get things done. What are your thoughts for the boys in maroon this year?
  8. I think this will be a better game this year then it has been the last 2 years. I think the Bears may get them this year but it is difficult for a smaller school to play a bigger school.. Either way look out for the Bears this year! Chiefs have good players but think the Bears can get it done but they better be ready for a good Red Squad.
  9. Well I think Tellico is much better than 5-5..at least I hope they are! Good showing against Central in the jamboree moved the ball very well!
  10. The thing is I wasn't questioning his baseball knowledge. I was just stating that I know alot about the game as well and have a lot of experience. I just think it is a little immature to call people iddiots and ignorant and whatever else he has said to some very good friends of mine just because he doesn't agree with them. I mean come on. I don't expect you to like my teams, I don't demand it, nor would that be any fun. But disagree with me in a way that makes me think you are not a 5th grader. So I am glad he knows alot about the game and I am glad he has had great sucess! But can we not act like we are still on the playground here?????
  11. Before you get all tore up. I was hacking on Smoke not Central. Read the whole thread and you will see. I would not hack on Central but I could see how someone might take it the wrong way by reading just that post so sorry for that. I was hacking on Smoke cause he says he is a central fan but jumps all over the board and was hard on one of the boys on his posts. But seriously nothing but respect for the Chargers..I know alot of guys that have played ball there for years..So please don't think I am some homer who hacks on other teams. This all started because people failed to believe something I saw with my own eyes...#10 for SQHS throwing in the 90's...Now say what you will but I saw it on 2 guns at the sametime. I don't know if he can be consistant, I don't know if he will make it, I just know on that day he was throwing it hard! But once again sorry for upsetting Central fans. They have a great tradition there.....
  12. Smok or nostraotis or whatever, I will agree SQHS got beat and Polk didn't so rub it in our...wait a minute I thought you were a Central guy....How many wins did they have in the district playoffs??????? Sure it would have been nice to play Polk again and sure SQHS didn't get it done when they needed too. Maybe you are even right about good ole #10, maybe he won't pan out, but maybe just maybe this is the best move for him and weather he pitches or is a position player. So let's go with the old addage when it was time to put up or shut up SQHS didn't but where was Central that day? I can't remember...hmmmmm help me here where were they????????? And by the way get used to SQHS fans because they may be around for a while...But be real careful, say what you will about Monroe County, Madisonville, or the rest of the area...But there are some of us around here that know baseball and know it well so throwing a word like ignorant out there is plain stupid. If you don't like what we have to say fine..If you don't agree with us that is fine too..Hey call us on it and will talk...But I got more baseball history in my family than alot of folks and some of these guys you call ignorant have seen and been a part of a lot of ball. Not to mention some of them are great coaches as well... I can't believe someone with your babseball knowledge would stoop to name calling but hey have at it...But if you are gonna slam someone at least get their name right...proof reading would go a long way...
  13. I was very impressed with EH. man do they grow them big down there those kids are huge!!!! I do have a question. But before I ask it please do not take offense because I am not hacking on anyone they hit the ball well. But I noticed that 3 or 4 of the EH players had a wierd sort of choppy swing. Is that something they have been coached to do or is it just the way they hit? the #3 hole batter I think he was #14 had the oddest looking swing but got 2 hits and one was a HR so it works just looked odd....any thoughts EHgreen?
  14. I only saw Jared Allen picth one game and he wasn't even close to 89. Plus the scouts didn't even have the gun on him. They knew as we all do if this kid is going to make it then he will make it as a position player. He has a good curve but that day he couldn't control it. I was and still am impressed with the Moses kid..Not sure where he was throwing (no scouts) but he was throwing hard but he did get hit hard too. But as I mentioned in my other post you groove a fastball and a kid closes his eyes and makes contact it is going to go. He did not give up a homerun but gave up several line drives... And I will have to say you are wrong about Deandre he hit in the 90's again last night...so I don't know what to say. If you don't like the kid say you don't like him...if you could care less about the kid but hate the fans fine say that...I hope all these kids do well...I hope that we all can say(when any one of them are playing 6-7 years from now) I watched them in High School. And like I said in one of my earlier posts I am glad scouts are coming this way because they didn't use to. So good for all these kids....so say what you will..call me what you will.....I am nothing but a fan of East Tennessee high school baseball.....
  15. Ok Ok so I am a moron according to some of you all I can tell you is what both guns said...I will say this we learned last night when you groove 2 fast balls if they make contact they are gone and that is what happened. And by the way the reason the kid is not decided yet is because he hates pitching. It is a real shame because he could with some work be a good pitcher. So say what you will make fun of a kid if you want...But if we are going to bring up fans then fans in glass houses shouldn'tr throw stones...I am not sure you will get that but you can call someone and ask what it means... I will say this they had a great year but in the end they did not get the job done last night. #10 gave up 3 hits and it got him beat. I hope Polk goes far and with their bats they can. I never said that scouts didn't come watch Polk I talked to them when they were taping Jared while he hit. But I never saw one at any Central game. Also why would I know they are there because I try to at least say hello in hopes that they will watch our summer team play. But I forgot you guys know everything and we few know nothing..So I do apologize for insulting your intelligence and even speaking about this...Good luck Polk....
  16. I mean come on let's use you head here....You come on one minute and praise Polk #12 about how he is going to UT and wonder how they score 5 not only can 12 hit but with Polk you better watch out cause #1 hitter thru about the 6 or 7 hole can hit the ball. And anyone who grooves a fastball even at 88+ over even in the 90's you throw it down the middle and Allen or Hargrove will send the thing into the middle of hwy 411. but in the Polk game #10 faced 24 batters that day, gave up 4 hits, walked 4, but only 3 earned runs. Against the second best offensive team in the district. And yes they have a heck of a line-up you should know they beat central 2 times when it mattered. But did not beat SQHS when it mattered. Polk has one more shot if they can win tonight and SQHS wins they will face each other again. Which is scarry this Polk team is a team that can put some runs on the board but SQHS can't be counted out... And yes you are right come June let's see what that fastball looks like...But right now to me it looks like between 92-94 when it is smoking.....And these bird dog scouts you are talking about might just be that, but funny how I did not see any at the Central games I was at this year. And by no means think that I am hacking on the Moses kid he can play!!! I am so proud to see this end of the state have so many kids in the mix. It is good to be represented because when i played college baseball(and yes I did) if you were from this area you had to beg for someone to come look at you. So bird dog scout, JUCO scout, or Mexican league scout makes no difference to me. He is getting looks, and their guns said 94.....
  17. Maybe I will cause the Jared is an awesome hitter and so glad he will be playing for UT cause I am a big time Vol...But make no mistake Jared's pitching was not why SQHS got beat, the only day SQHS got beat in the district. His curve ball was giving him trouble and his fastball was not hitting the spot but he hit the ball well and SQHS got beat and yes #10 was pitching. So I will give you that. Hey listen I am not saying #10 is a stellar pitcher... I am not sure where he will go to school. I think the reason he is undecided thus far is because he is weighing his options..But the question was who has the meanest fastball and so my answer is this if you are having the conversation...and you want to talk about someone on this end of the state you have to throw #10 out there a legit 92-94 fastball that your #1 at central couldn't beat. That is all I am saying and all I have said. i am happy to come on here and give my opinion and listen to yours but don't blast a kid you don't know...I will say this Central has always had a great program and good results so be proud of that.....I think Jared Allen if he can keep hitting the ball will have a good career....Maybe even loner than SQHS's #10 but he never hit 94 on the jugs. Unless you are talking about bat speed and if you want to start that discussion then I will go there with you. But once again talking about fastballs #10 has got one and if you have been at any of the SQHS games lately you have seen it. So give props where they are due...
  18. No smoke you are wrong. I won't respond with "some bird dog scout". I guess there must just be something wrong with the gravitaional pull around the SQHS diamond that causes 2 guns sitting side by side to read the same thing over about 2 innings. And before you throw out there that I am just a homer that drinks the SQHS kool-aid. that is not the case either. I started watching the Red Squad because of 1 kid and only one no realtion at all just a kid I know and love and he does not have #10 on his back. I will say though these boys have my respect and they should have the respect of everyone in thier district. Cause I am not sure who you root for but I did not see any of the #1's for any other team in our district look stellar except #10. I will see if I can get UT to come out and check the area around the SQHS diamond for some sort of magical zone that adds 6 to 8 mph to a fastball...
  19. sorry forgot this.... he is a righty....
  20. Allen is thier hardest thrower and their #1. Great velocity and good off speed stuff. He also can chew up the innings. Plus their #2 and #3 aren't bad. And the bullpen is deep with a lot of young guys that can contribute. This is in my opinion why they won the district and why they will be very hard to beat in the region. For most teams if you can get past #1 you can get the hits. But for SQHS they got guys 4 and 5 deep that can keep the team out of trouble....
  21. The Allen kid #10 at Sequoyah has a great fastball. The other day I stood behind 2 scouts both with guns and had him at 92-94. He can chunk the pickle!!! Has good change-up.... Not seen any others in our area come close to throwing as hard not even close!
  22. New to all of this but huge baseball fan. I have watched all the teams in this district play and I must say SQHS is on a roll. They have a great #1 starting pitcher and have been solid offensively. Plus the one thing that has impressed me is that they have been behind in a few games and still have come back to win it. I was very impressed with the #3 and #4 hitters for Polk. They seem to have a solid line-up but I would worry a little about pitching now mind you only seen a few games and 1 of them their #1 pitcher was struggling to say the least but they still got the win. Central did not impress me, except of course for their #1 pitcher weather he is hitting, pitching, or in the feild I could watch that kid playball all day long! But all you heters don't jump on me, because you better not over look central because they are central and always can play. Meigs seems to be struggling but they have some players....So to sum it all up in my opinion the Red Squad has a good shot at winning this thing but baseball being baseball how bout all of us see how it plays out.....Good luck to all!
