How can a guy get a head coaching job at a 6A school if he has never even been a coordinator? I am struggling to believe that he can actually be the assistant principal, head softball coach and have any time to be the head football coach. Something has to suffer

There is an All Star Game like that. It is called the Toyota/Tennessee East vs West All Star game. It is played every year at Carson Newman College in Jefferson City, TN. Unfortunately, very few Memphis coaches send their players to this game and rarely are the ones that do go "the best players in the West", but it is an excellent game, the kids are treated like kings and receive all kinds of gifts for participating. Plus, they get to visit Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge and Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede!

I wonder how long it will be before Wayne Randall or Jim Dotson get on here and start recommending each other for that HFC job? Everytime a new job comes available they are on here putting their names in the mix!

There is a rumor going around that one of the assistant coaches released the audio. Probably the DC that came from CBHS, he did everything in his power to get Coach LaCastro fired. I have heard he was after Abel's job as well and it looks like he got it.

Five gun shots rang out at the Cordova High School Homecoming Game against Jackson North Side! What is wrong with people in Memphis? Cordova is just another example of what happens to a public high school once the City of Memphis and Memphis City Schools take over! That school use to be something special, leave it to Memphis to mess up a good thing! No one was hit, but two cars were not as lucky! After the shooting, the idiot drove around the parking lot doing donuts and burn outs, but the police and security were unable to apprehend the shooter. Now I understand why everyone is moving or trying to move out of Cordova.

I would be willing to bet that the MUS Football staff would have already won multiple state titles with all of their TALENT! I wonder who would get more out of their teams, MUS coaches with the Whitehaven TALENT or Whitehaven coaches with MUS talent? Anyone want to take a guess? MUS Football--5 State Championships, East Football 1 State Championship, but RESPECT DA 'HAVEN has yet to win a football state title! Hmmmmmmmmm...looks like Whitehaven better bring home the gold ball this year or people will start asking questions about the quality of coaching, or lack there of, at Whitehaven.

Speaking of coaching, maybe you could explain to everyone why Whitehaven last season was the FIRST TIME Whitehaven made it beyond the state quarterfinals! We all know how much talent Whitehaven has year in year out, the most talented team in the state each year. I have been hearing for 20 years college recruiters talk about all the talent Whitehaven has and yet the 2010 season was Whitehaven's first time past the state quarterfinals. How can that be? Could it be that the Whitehaven does not have great coaching and they get by with average coaching? You tell me

How does playing football at Miami translate into being a good football coach? Being a great college player or playing in a great program does not necessarily mean you will be a good football coach! Besides, how many good coaches does east have on their staff other than Wimberly? MUS has a proven, quality staff that has coached together in many big football games and they have four former head football coaches on their staff--Cady, Dowtin, Ellis and Finney--along with Coach Alston. East might very well have the fastest player on the field and they might be bigger than MUS, but that is not exactly something new to MUS! I think it will be a great game and may the best team win!!!

LOL!!!! The Principal and Athletic Director at Cordova interviewed Telli White for the HFC job. Apparently, they were prepared to offer him the job before a booster club member informed them of his background. This according to someone who knows the AD very well.

Why in the world would Bartlett High School hire an assistant freshman coach with one year of experience as their new head varsity football coach? Really? Are they serious? How could he possible be ready for 5A football as a head coach? Whoever made this decision needs to have his head examined! I sure hope they hire several great assistant coaches or else they will be in serious trouble. Memphis and Shelby County must be completely clueless!

It might have something to do with the coaches they hire. Tim Thompson from Melrose to Ridgeway comes to mind. He got into trouble at Ridgeway before he even coached a single game. When you hire shady people this is bound to happen. Rumor is that Cordova High has hired Coach Johnson from Hillcrest and he was run out of Nashville Stratford for cheating, recruiting and knowingly playing ineligible players. I understand that he already has 5 of his Hillcrest players at Cordova, a huge linemen from Westwood is on the way and another 6' 8" monster from Southwind is coming in the summer. One of the Hillcrest kids is being driven from Whitehaven to Cordova in his father's City of Memphis police car! That is a great use of tax dollars! How does this stuff happen? Does anyone in Memphis care? Why has the TSSAA allowed this to go on?
