Are you even a Signal Mountain fan? Might want to do some more research if you think that there is only one solid dlineman and db on Greeneville's team. Not to mention that wasn't against weak little 2A teams or Chatt teams yall played.

I thought Yall were BIG BAD Signal Mountain? State Champs in only 3 years of varsity football? You kill me! It is pretty simple yall didn't want to play Alcoa. You can say whatever bs yall want but its not hard to see why you moved to 4A and that reason is ALCOA like the article said. I don't blame you for the move up but you fans don't need to sugar coat it.

It depends on how many kids graduate, move, etc. There has been less and less tuition students that attend GHS because all the county high schools offer AP courses and also have a band program now. When I was there we had no new tuition students come in that had not been in the athletic program since 6th grade or before. I bet there are more tuition paying students in the GHS Band or Chorus than there are on the Football team.

Skipping a classification because of ONE team is being scared lol. Yes it was a smart decision but still doesn't mean you were any less scared to play Alcoa. You can be both smart and scared.

sissy mountain went to 4A because of one reason Alcoa was in 3A. Alcoa is the best team in the State of Tennessee but overall 4A is just as strong if not stronger than 3A.

So if their parents don't let them play sports they don't have to pay? That’s what you just stated....Parents can choose to pay for a better education not just athletics like you try to play it out to be. I attended Greeneville City Schools since Kindergarten and my parents had no clue if I was going to play sports at Greeneville. I know at Greeneville there is a large waiting list for kids to get into the school system and that is for the elementary schools. They also can reject kids from attending GHS and kick them out for bad behavior and this has happened too. Most notable was Greeneville's All-Time passing leader who had to move into the city limits to even attend GHS

We will be there and you probably will to since you play in a weak city. Never been mercy-ruled and Signal Mountain sure isn't going to be the team to do it since you couldnt even mercy-rule all your 2A teams you played lasy year.

You Signal Mountain Fans talk a big game for a team who won a 2A championship (Which is a weak classification) and openly admit you are afraid to play Alcoa! You will get a reality check this season once you get outside of Chatt.

Greeneville has had the same situation that Signal Mountain had this year in years past. Greeneville always had to go through Maryville (When Maryville was always beating Alcoa) to make it to state when they could have been in 3A but wanted to play the best. Your not going to get any slack from anyone on these boards since your coach came out and Said yall were scared to play Alcoa.

Never have been dodging them since we have never been on or suppose to be in their class. Greeneville has never been scared to shedule any team and any school will tell you that since we have always played teams larger than us almost every friday night before the 09 classification. Alcoa called needed a game this year and Greeneville ACCEPTED the task to take them on.

Alcoa was 2A then but nice try

Greeneville has around 850 kids now and has played in 4A since there was a 4A in Tennessee and their enrollement then was around 800. Greeneville for years have played up from 3A were they should have been or they would have more state championships. I would say no player from Alcoa or Greeneville plays to play since that wouldn't make since at all .

Tactical or not you don't tell a newspaper you are scared to play ANYONE! You will not be unbeaten when playoffs comes around so i'm not even worried about it. I guess being in your 20's makes you an old man these days since your talking to a waterboy

Greeneville isn't scared of Signal Mountain and i doubt anyone else in 4A is scared of you! There is a step up in the quality of teams in 4A than in your little 2A yall played in last year. Just wait and see

I agree that Maplewood might have had overall team speed, but i also can say that Greeneville had the 2 fastest players on the field in Carmichael (4.4 40) and Shuffler(4.43 40). Greeneville also was better coached and a more physical team proven from the 12 play drive that sealed the deal for the Devils in the 4th quarter.

The Game between Greeneville and Maplewood was the worse Greeneville played all year also on the O side of the ball. I feel like alot of that had to do that it being a wet and muddy field for both Greeneville and Maplewood and Greeneville wasn't use to that since they play on a turf field.

The point being is last year White House got placed in the West side of the Bracket because it is located more west than any other middle tennessee team (A much weaker side and didn't make it out). The only 4A team that even had a legit shot of winning state from middle tennessee was Maplewood. The Greeneville Team last year was a year older stronger and smarter than the team that played against Giles Co. the year before and probably twice as good. This year they returned alot from the 09 and 10 team.

Its GreenEville lol.....I hope that part of the state can actually send a team to the Championship game that wont get slaughtered like they did last year. Whoever makes it out of the East will win it once again.

It all depends on what context the "Stars and Bars" Flag is being used. At a football game where the mascot is a Rebel is not signifing slavery and opression. Also only 7% % of Southern Whites owned slaves, 2% of free Blacks in the South owned slaves. For example, in 1860, the U.S. Census Bureau reported that around 10,000 free Blacks owned some 60,000 Black slaves. It was a Black slave master, named Anthony Johnson, who sued and won his case in a Virginia court in 1653 that changed temporary servitude into lifetime servitude. Thus, this Black slave owner established permanent slavery in Virginia. Many Free Blacks fought under that same Confederate Flag. Just because a racist group like the Klan uses it doesnt mean every believes in the same way. In a recent Louis Harris poll 92% of the Southern people, of all races, are not offended by our Confederate battle flag, and that 68% of Blacks nationwide are not offended. It all about the CONTEXT behind how it is being used.

So if i get offened by something someone is wearing , waving, or saying and I pay tax dollars it shouldn't be aloud at a high school football game?

You might want to do a little more research on the civil war and all the causes of it. Yea slavery had a part in but like Skookem stated The Northern States owned slaves too but just used the name "Servants". The civil war was over taxation, economic factors, state rights, and social distinction. The so called Confederate flag wasn't even the official flag of the south but a battle flag, just like different platoons today have different flags. I love how you talk about the heritage stance on things when just as men Black Americans can't trace themselfs back to slavery as white americans can to southern roots. Like i stated before if your mascot is a rebel and kids bring rebel flags to games i don't view that is racist. Big difference if you team is the cougars or indians.

People get the wrong idea about the rebel flag. Small minded people view it as racist because people place it with the Klan. The Klan uses the christian cross as a symbol too but we don't view that as being racist. It represented a battle flag that ment bravery and southern roots and thats why alot of people in the south still fly them. Many Southern states still fly the "Stars and Bars" at court houses and their state flags are incorporated from the Confederate Flag. Media propaganda is what gave the flag a bad name.

You posting something from another topic shows how mature you are Space3. I'm sure no one thinks The Maryville "Rebels" are racist or living in 1861 just because they have rebel flags. Maybe a little different if your mascot isn't a Rebel. How did this have anything to do with Maryville Spring practice or Maryville football in general?
