  1. Wayne Co. had a team full of seniors who had played successfully together since pee-wee ball. They ran their game very efficiently and effectively. All in all I've read over all of these pages and just see many trying to have a peeing contest and see who can pee the farthest, when none of us are even playing the game. You Warrior fans are coming out of the woodwork now that things are finally looking up compared to recent years. Glad ya'll are regaining some spirit. But as Roy says, much of what is on here is a bunch of mess. That being said I'll stick to game talk. The Warriors show improvement. However I think that with three threats in the backfield, it will be hard for the Warrior defense to contain the Pirate running game. The Pirate defense showed some signs of not tackling very well earlier this season but last week was a good improvement. This game runs high on emotion but after nerves settle, I believe the Pirates will grind it out, put it away during the second half and that our defense will continue to improve on how they played last week. Of course shutting down Zeman is key. I've watched him play for years and he's a capable and stout runner. I'm excited and ready to get to Beene Stadium tonight! Gotta get me a zero carb Rockstar and a Supreme protein bar. (I can't handle all that sugar like Roy can.) Hope both teams get through this injury free!! Pirates - 45, Scalpees - 23
  2. Score?? What's goin on with the Warriors?
  3. Ready to get this game going tonight!! I'm really hoping to see our defense come alive during the first half tonight and not start sluggish. Hoping for an injury-free game. See all of you fans up there! Go Pirates
  4. That's exactly what I was thinking Ambassador! LOL!! Copper Basin hasn't been very strong in years. But yes, good luck to the Tigers and the Warriors tonight.
  5. I agree. We didn't tackle very well in general last week. I'm sure that's been worked on this week. That young'un of mine had a few hits where he didn't wrap up, too. Hopefully we'll see a better balance of blitzing if the situation calls for it. It helped pressure Grundy and disrupt their passing compared to the first half. Coaches Stone and Hale will be on it.
  6. I'll answer this one for my friend PowerP. Roy our boys practiced Sunday evening in order to get in that fourth day of practice for this game against Lookout Valley. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. No days of practice lost.
  7. I agree... Once we adjusted the blitz, we stopped them from maintaining a drive or momentum. Our adjustments really made a big difference in the second half. Still got a long way to go but it's good to see progress and improvement when it works like that.
  8. Not sure what I think of this match-up yet. The Warriors seem to be showing improvement this year, which I expected. And Whitwell shows some signs of a possible better season that the previous two, but that remains to be seen as they face some competition. Maybe PurpleGrad or Pastry can give me an update on the quarterback status for the Warriors. I think I'd heard that a few were injured around the time of the jamboree. What's the depth level and status at QB?
  9. Good post. Somber return home for our boys last night but now we'll start getting ready for next year. We had a good season and like I told my son, it was great to be able to make it to the championship game. We're not at all satisified with not winning the game, of course. But proud of our Pirates for another good season and trip to the big game. Congratulations to Wayne County. A very solid performance! We couldn't stop the QB on the keepers. We shot ourself in the foot and played possibly the worst game we've played since the playoffs began. Still had opportunities though. Just too many mistakes and unable to stop WC from driving. Great season, Wayne County! I'm proud to be a Pirate! Proud of our boys and of Vic and the coaching staff! One last thing to our SP fans (most likely none of the ones on CoachT, though. Most on here are true fans.)... When its halfway into the fourth quarter and fans start leaving the stands like some of ours did, I know firsthand that our players notice it and it's discouraging to them. They had a great season. Show your support til the end of the game! Go Pirates!!!!
  10. Well I haven't posted alot on here this week and honestly, I'm worn out from just trying to keep up with reading the thread!! It's been alot of fun this year and I'm sad to see it coming to a close for another season. It'll be alright though if our Pirates can win it all once again. I've worried alot throughout the playoffs about how they would step up and handle the tough road. It hasn't all been pretty, but they've handled it well and I'm confident that they'll be ready tomorrow. Should be great weather for this game. I'm ready to go! Everybody drive safe! Go Pirates!
  11. Sure has... A few haters stirring the pot. Lol
  12. Good post! The Pirates have played a very tough schedule and been beaten and banged up. It has prepared them for getting through this equally tough playoff bracket. Now there's only one more left... This is the big game and no one is gonna lay down. WC will bring all they have, but I have confidence that the Pirates will have a little more gunpowder at their disposal. It's a great achievement for both teams to reach this championship game. Our Pirates have struggled and played uninspired during a few quarters this season. They'll be inspired Friday and, like Elvis said, I like our odds too. Load the ship, hoist the sails, extend the plank, set sail and bring home the loot Pirates! As David would say, "ONE TIME!" I'm ready to go now! Lol
  13. Yeah Grider practiced them today, Roy. And they are practicing tomorrow too. I hope the boys get focused and work hard together. They have to to win this one.
  14. Good post. I'm more worried about this game than I have been about any so far. Which only makes some sense due to its importance. But we need some leadership to take charge and light the field up. Our Pirates have endured and conquored a brutal schedule throughout the season (esp the latter part) and travelling through the playoffs. We've won, but still not played as dominant as what they could if they could avoid a flat spot during the game. This Gordonsville team is worrying me. I have alot of confidence in our Pirates, but they need to step it up and show their grit. Too many penalties, dropped balls, and at times, just flat execution. I know the coaches are doing all they can to motivate and prepare the team. We need stand-out play from all of the guys. DJ needs to get aggressive in the game the way he does in practices. I'm very hopeful that we leave the game Friday night having once again done what is necessary to win the game and head back for another chance at the Title. Hope all the Pirate faithful can make it up there to show their support Friday. Should be a great atmosphere against a great team! The Pirate ship sails into Gordonsville ready for war! Go Pirates!!
  15. From what I was told, yesterday's practice was one of the best our boys have had in a long time. The coaches have stressed some key things this week that seem to be getting the team focused. We need to come out playing to our capabilities and play that way throughout the whole game, not just half like we've been prone to do several times this year. If we play a complete game at full ability, we can look forward to staying in this thing and getting to play again next week. (I know, I state the obvious! LOL) Regardless of the suspended players that Coalfield has (with only one being a major impact, as has been said already), they will be even more determined and fired up! We can't be lulled to sleep starting this game by thinking we have an advantage going in. Noone can afford being flat at this point in the season. I'm dreading the drive again this week, but looking forward to hoisting the sails on the ole Pirate ship and goin plundering!
  16. This is just what I was thinking rlh. LV isn't a confrontational team. Anyway, the Pirates got out of that one last night with the win but like it keeps being said, we need better play from our O line and our recievers have got to catch the ball! Several passes that Jake threw were right in the hands, but dropped. We can't afford to make those mistakes getting this deep into the playoffs. Congrats to our Pirates on surviving the hostile crowd environment right behind them on the sidelines and staying focused enough to pull through in the second half. Sounded like LV kept it close with Coalfield until later into the second half. Time to take another long road trip and keep the air in the sails this week.
  17. You're full of BS! I was there. I've never been to any HS game where the opposing team's fans set up camp all around the visiting team's fans and stand over and heckle the opposing team players. Low down. Pegleg was right. The field was in good shape. And you just work with what funds you have to make your facility the best it can be within your means. But the actions of fans in their trucks all over the visitors side is unexcusable and asking for trouble. That's not small town football. It's just low class and degrading to the kids playing. The reason you hear us saying stuff about it on here is because it struck us as so ridiculous! I've never been anywhere else and saw the visitors act that way. Glad we got the win. Even if ya'll don't get better funding, do the best you can with the money and support that you have. And sit on your own home side! Give the visitors a place to see the game behind and around their own players!
  18. Lancer that happens some at almost any game. That's not what this was. There was a tiny visitor's side stand and flanking it on both sides, all down the visitor's side of the field were Greenback fans with their pickup trucks backed right up to the fence. They sat in the back and yelled for Greenback and heckled our players during the game. That's poor conduct. It wasn't just a few fans roaming around mingling with people all over the stadium like what tends to happen at all games. They were encamped right behind our team and on both sides of our stand. Worst situation like that I've ever saw at a game. Anyway. Glad we got away with the win. Time to really do some tuning up this week and get things running on all cylinders. We didn't play a very good game. Props to Seymour and Goodson for Greenback. They are good. On to Coalfield...
  19. Looks like Coach Grider is gonna have a bus going to Greenback, Roy. Those interested need to contact the main office no later than noon on Wednesday (that's tomorrow. hehe). The cost is $20
  20. We are supposed to be in 1a. The thread this week is sure full of crap. It's repetitive to keep telling idiots to check their facts. I know attention spans can be short but it's been on here numerous times about the enrollment numbers. Yes we tend to have good talent. Sloth we also have a good group of coaches. Several have been head coaches at other successful programs in the past. It takes alot of hard work on the part of our kids (who tend to be self motivated because they simply don't want to lose after the bar has been set so high by teams from the past) and our coaching staff to be successful. The kids are local. Our Pee-wee football teams just won the championship bowl in 3 out of four age brackets!! It starts early here and the tradition keeps going. Of course we have down years and take a few beatings along the way. Winning programs bring alot of haters out of the woodwork. Ya'll jumped on early success building a team. Come look at the trophy case at SP. The tradition goes way back in years. Generations of families who have played a part in creating the tradition. And the community is proud and stands firmly behind the school and team. It's always been that way here. And unless we have some unforseen surge in numbers, we'll be in 1a. I see no point in you insinuating we shouldn't be in 1a. It's amazing to see all these haters jump in here spewing their crap this week.
