  1. Wine and cheese? Yacht? Tsk tsk friends. Let me put down the anchor, refill my merlot and slice some more gruyere before I respond. My son graduated 2012 so I've not followed my fellow Admirals as closely but we went to the opener last night. It looked like DB was down a bit (young?), ANOTHER Foreman? But I liked what FHS put on the field. The junior QB was poised but lacked accuracy. I think that will improve. WRs were OPEN. The offense relied a lot on junior RB Tanner Thomas but didn't seem one dimensional. His presence on the field creates other possibilities: screens, play-action, etc. Farragut went deep (unsuccessfully) too often. I'm not a football aficionado but I still dislike the 3-3 defense. In the second half, FHS looked tired and winded, DB punched the ball up the middle. Then a familiar site, DB threw it over the secondary for a huge gain and score. Overall, I thought the secondary has a lot of potential (2 ints) and some good athletes but still not understanding the scheme.
  2. Sweet, Sweet, et tu Brute? what's a team to do (about a pourous D)? Coach ain't gonna change it. Shouldn't you adjust your scheme to your personnel? We got burned over the top numerous times last season. Numerous. While we had excellent athletes often sitting on the sidelines, not playing both ways (Barnett, Jetton, Fain, etc.). I project that the 2013 Admirals will have better balance. Could be 5/5 or 6/4 - beast schedule AGAIN (why not put a few patsies in your non-District games to rebuild your program's confidence?). IMHO. Oh well, with everyone loving these "down" years for Farragut Football, it could be one of YOU guys who gets the upset "L."
  3. Wow. Sorry I'm late fellows. Brutal disrespect (wink) - be careful - what goes around comes around (but maybe not for a long while). The 2012 Admirals finished 3-7 and it was a huge disappointment for our kids but they never quit working and playing hard. FHS's schedule was rated the state's toughest in AAA based on Opponent's Strength. They lost four games by a total of 17 points. Three of those losses were decided by 4 points or less. Against two strong teams, we gave away games to Oak Ridge and Bearden. FHS was the first team in a long time to score 41 points against MHS but we just ran out of gas against W.Blount at the end. Ten seniors are moving on to play college football at quality D1, D2 or D3 programs. Admirals were all over the District leaderboard (Passing/Phillips #1, Rushing/Fain #2, Scoring/King #2, Receiving/Barnett #1, Tackles/Glintenkamp #3). Defense...our defensive scheme...arrrgghhhh! We just couldn't outscore really good competition.
  4. Sweet, you got me in a down position at the line too! I'm pulling for the Cats as the local boys! Earlier I watched some footage of SHill vs. DB and the Toppers look strong. It's been so long since the FHS/OR game I don't recall the details but I remember that ya'll were strong at the skill positions and playing some guys both ways. Is OR ready in the trenches? Can they pressure that QB?
  5. Wow. I went to bed too early after our frustrating loss ot WB. You DB fans are entertaining! I'm a humble Farragut supporter, but my kids grew up playing youth football with some of the Bearden athletes, so go Dawgs! DB is an excellent team with some outstanding athletes. Against FHS, #88(?) spent more time in the offensive backfield than our QB. But I recall that, way back then, the DB faithful were squabbling about their coach and their play-offs mishaps - what's up with the negativity!? Bearden is a solid team. QB, RBs, LBs, WRs. We had them on the ropes and they never quit, 3OTs, and they won - gotta respect that tenacity.
  6. Times have a-changed. Farragut has talented athletes...but...the "new" Hardin Valley, Bearden/ rezoning at the Pellissippi Parkway; and Webb, Catholic, CAK - all in West Knox. They get a lot of talent that used to default to Farragut. I heard that a kid who lives maybe 1/2 mile from me, in the heart of Farragut, is the starting defensive end (sophomore, 79?) for Maryville - how does that work? "TK" as we knew him growing up, Todd Kelly Jr. lives 2-3 miles from us, in the heart of Farragut...someone call me a Whambulance. Even all being said, we were probably 3 TDs away from being 7-3 vs. 3-7 against great opponents. Sigh. Goodbye Friday Night Lights.
  7. Gov91, I was impressed with WB's talent and their game plan. They scouted FHS well - what was halftime? WB 25, FHS 7? But I know nothing about the coaching situation - other than I was surprised that WB was also upside down in the W/L. BTW, I remember some epic FHS/WB battles in years gone by - great players, great football.
  8. (smile) no disrespect taken, that's why I added that post.
  9. Sweet Science, BTW, I've appreciated your posts and analysis. Good luck to the Wildcats in November! My son played summer 7/7 with Rian Hall and ran track against Moore. Great athletes. Git er done!
  10. Kick Farragut, the West Knox folks, while we are down on one knee. Get a ticket and get in line. That is so old. I grew up in Farragut and remember when everyone called us hicks and threw hay in the bleachers when we visited. Our equipment was crap and our jerseys had holes in them. Turkey Creek had turkeys and a creek. Honestly, in modern times, we probably had a similar attitude towards our western cousins in LC - best wishes to them in the Playoffs. This season, our boys never gave up, never quit competing, beat several respectable teams (McMinn County, Catholic) and put up a fight against several others (Oak Ridge, Bearden) and we self-destructed in others: penalties, turnovers (Lenior City, William Blount). After a 3OT loss to Bearden and putting up 41 against Maryville and losing, the guys were close to empty in the past two weeks. That's football. Live to fight another day. I'm proud to say that 4AAA may be the best in Tennessee. Bring home several state titles boys! Farragut will be waiting for you in 2013!
  11. Tip of the hat to William Blount tonight. Especialy to RB/LB Lane Bloom - awesome competitor who changed the game.
  12. FBE, congratulations on the success and excellence of Maryville football. Out here in the former Farmland of Farragut, we'll continue to work hard, play hard, and get better. Humility in success, determination in defeat.
  13. West4 - I don't know a lot about BHS this year, particularly O-line and D-line, but they are obviously for real. Nicky Frizen (QB) is a great competitor. The Admirals are the underdog and will need to put together a great gameplan and execution to knock off the 2012 Bulldogs. Has Bearden's secondary been tested this season? Phillips and Receiver Corp can air it out. When the Farragut defense plays aggressively they have surprised some Top 10 teams (Oak Ridge, Catholic, McMinn County). This will be a fun game to watch.
  14. From Farragut, praying for healing and comfort for him and his family!
  15. C'mon folks play nice. Farragut will always show up and have good athletes. If a team takes us lightly, they may get surprised. This year we have a big strong O-line anchored by three good seniors (Dockery, Doucette, Mowery); and, another 5-6 returners . We probably don't have as much speed/big-play guys as in years past, but I thing our boys can get it done. We have very capable new or young faces in key roles - game experience will be invaluable. Everyone picks OR in this one; so I'll be faithful and predict 24-21 Admirals on a J. King field goal. Best wishes to OR to have fun and be healthy tonite.
