  1. Does anyone know why Maryville QB Patton Robinette didn't participate this year? And for those of you who watched it, who were some of the most standout players? For me it was Terrel Rollins for Grenville. The kid was a monster, bull rushing and swimming his way to the QB. I believe he finished with a sack, 3 tackles for loss, and a fumble recovery.

  3. What's everyones list of all-state players this year? If you want, you can fill this out. Just copy and paste. I doubt many people know enough to fill the entire thing out so bravo to you if you do. This can expand into 2,3,and 4A players as you all know. 4. Everyone please ignore batmast. All he brings to threads are bashing and name calling. As for your statement about a drop in talent level. Are you serious? The last team coach carter coached was full of all conference and a couple all state players. The team before that had 4 all state players on offense alone. You can make alot of arguments, but drop of in talent is not something you can argue. It's a fact. Please bring some actual discussion to this thread next time you come back. Not just alot of bashing and hate.
  5. Just curious, but has anyone else thought of the fact that since the city is annexing all these schools that the money might be better spent to update and renovate the schools that they are going to aquire in the coming years? I mean as a South fan I for one know first hand of the low-budget facilities in the school. As for the field house, I've seen worse but the only reason that our fieldhouse is half-decent is becuase of boosters and fundraising. Does anyone else agree with me on this? and please put South v. D.B. hate aside. Also, what exactly are they planning to renovate?
  6. It's just as much the players as it is the coaching. The fact is, when coach carter was there he was lucky enough to have one of the best crop of players Colonial Heights has ever pumped out. You can replace coaches all you want, but the players have to come in to the equation somewhere. With the exception of #15, there werent really any outstanding players in the past year. I will acredit some of the blame on the coaching, however, just becuase I do not agree with some of the play calls, doesn't mean that they aren't trying. I don't know about you but i have never coached a high school football game. And until i have im not in any position to correct the coaches on what they are doing wrong. If the only expierence you have of being a carpenter is watching someone build something on TV, then i dont think your going to go up to a master carpenter and tell him hes doing his job wrong. Just becuase you watch football does NOT make you an expert on it. Also, notice how people are always quick to throw out suggestions on what we should do on offence, what about defense? What are we doing wrong there? More often than not many people will either A) Not know what to say or Say we need to blitz more, becuase thats what they know and see on TV. The point of my rant is that the coaches are not completly to blame. Take a step back and look at what we had to work with this year. A junior quarterback, who before this year never saw the field. A line filled with juniors only one of which had previous varsity expierence. Same thing on the D line. Completely new linebacking core with the exception of #15. Now lets look at the the last group coach carter coached. Ty Garvin, 3 year starter. Ashton Zanoni, 2 year starter. 3 out of 5 of the offensive linemen had at least 2 years of expierence and 1 had 3. recievers, Kaleb Kitzmiller, 2 year starter. Seth Waterson, 2 year starter. Ty Garvin was all state 2 years, Ashton Zanoni was all state, along with 3 out of the 5 lineman being all conference. Don't be so quick to judge the lack of ability of the coaches.
  7. We did. After the Coach Hoover incident at Colonial Heights MS. Er, rather he got the message that he wasn't respected nor wanted.
  8. Can anyone give me an indication on how the Boone game went? From the score , it looks like West took care of business. But from some stuff I've read, it sounds like Boone missed some good oppertunities and the score wasnt really a reflection for the overall feel of the game. Can anyone enlighten me?
  9. Just to clear things up. At the end of the freshman season, Coach Haynie (coach carter did this as well) allows any freshman that would like to practice and dress with the varsity during the playoffs to do so. It is not a requirement of the freshmen. just get some good expierence on the practice field, and start learning some of the varsity plays and varsity speed. They will NEVER take the field in a playoff game. Period. The only, and I mean ONLY exception to that is QBs, and that is only if we are in a winning blowout. Geeze, there is not need for all the hostility going on over this subject.. as for it being illegal...in what way is it illegal? and for team moral? I can assure you that the varsity starters do not even realize that the freshman are there.
  10. It's hard to run to the opposite side when #15 is in the middle. I'll hvae to agree with you on coaching tho. If we can't find a new OC then we are in trouble for years to come. The play calling is very predictable and linear. If south can't mix things up on the offensive side of the ball then I can see an upset in Death Valley.
  11. I'm just hoping the Rebs will win out for a home opener in the playoffs. As for homecoming Queen I'm not quite sure. I dont think Volunteer should be any trouble. South-28 Volunteer-7
  12. I've been talking to some of the line from south and they're saying #72 is a handfull, and from what one young man said, even more so than Hayworth. I'm really looking forward to watching how each teams line handles itself.
  13. The Rebels coming off two OT wins in a row. Do they have enough to get past the toppers?
  14. and lets not forget last year at the basketball game, when our dance team was dancing at half time, your "oh so classy students" had a fake wad of cash and threw it at them in the middle of the show as if they were some kind of exotic dancer. if thats not class i dont know what is. or when you broke in and vandalized our stadium a few years ago before a football game.
