  1. You're not just making a prediction. You are putting down someone based on their allegiance and you know it. Then you throw 9/11 in the mix as a cover for poor logic and boorish behavior. A classy comment would have been something to the effect of acknowledging that it's difficult jumping up to AAA football and best of luck down the road. That's not the road you took. Just admit you were taunting a new Summit fan on this board based on what happened last Friday night. To claim you were acting classy makes you look foolish and robs any credibility you had here.
  2. Classy. Way to welcome the newbie Indy style.
  3. I don't know about that ND. From what I saw Friday night your Eagles are a blitzkrieg. The lines are small but disciplined and extremely well coached. There are athletes everywhere even after the big three. I don't see any team in the district beating Indy this year.
  4. I echo what vbdad said. He is not allowed to coach his Riverdale girls in club. There was definitely a Ravenwood player and a Summit player on that team. It had more to do with "alliances" to certain individuals and his desire not to drive to Cool Springs three times a week.
  5. Interesting because he is highly thought of in Club. So much so that his entire 15 team followed him from one club to the other to be a satellite 16 team.
  6. Looking forward to seeing how it all shakes out Friday night.
  7. Dom Childress. #22. I hope he didn't get hurt. He's a great kid. Edit: Just checked. He did get hurt and it sounds like he will be out awhile. One of the LB'ers I was talking about, Adam Martin #25, also got hurt.
  8. The RB is a junior with blazing speed who is getting D-1 looks. I think he will get some yards once the line grows up a little bit. Right now the Indy O is using misdirection and screen passes to get the ball in Wharton's hands. He is deadly in open space. And you're right. The coaching is 100% better.
  9. I got to step in on this one. The Indy D line is by the far the weak link. From what I saw they are tenacious and hit hard, but they are tiny. A big athletic OL will wear them out. The strength of the D is the back seven...not just because they have three SEC players in the secondary. The other safety and the LB'ers are very athletic kids. Few teams are going to have long runs on that D. But there are going to be a lot of long drives like the ones Kenwood had the other night. I didn't see the game but my guess is that they ran up the middle for a lot of four and five yard gains.
  10. This is a cut and paste from the Memphis Commercial Appeal. I don't know how it went in bracket play. 11. The big boys were all zoned to Summit....
  12. Stopped by the Independence/ Columbia Central scrimmage on my home from work. Here's what I saw: Indy got the ball first and drove the length of the field. Did a good job distributing the ball to all their talented skill players. But they fumbled on the goal line. I think it was on the center from the reaction of Blade. CC put together a bit of drive but had to punt. The Lions then held Indy to a three and out. Columbia fumbled shortly thereafter. Indy put together a bit of a drive only to lose the ball on downs when they failed to convert about a fourth and four or so. Columbia started to move the ball but ended up turning it over on a beautiful pick by Wharton. He came out of nowhere to snag the ball. That led to a nice drive by Indy which ended up with a TD pass to Wharton. He is slippery and fast. CC didn't do much on their next drive and punted. Indy went a long drive that was kept alive by a fantastic catch by VW on 4th and long. He adjusted in air to get behind the DB and pull down the ball. But Indy fumbled again on the goal line. This fumble was picked up by the Lions and resulted in a 99 yd TD the other way. Indy came back out with their first unit (tho second string QB) but Columbia put in their entire second team defense. About half way through that drive Indy pulled their starting skill players but kept the starting line in place. The Eagles ended up scoring on that drive. Then the subs started really coming in so I left. It was a pretty sloppy scrimmage overall. Indy has a scrappy defense. The secondary is obviously talented, but so are the linebackers. The DT's are TINY however. One is 5'7" the other is 5'8" maybe. He runs real well tho and hits hard. The DE's got after it too. The Eagles OLine is the weak link. The LT and C are big and upperclassmen. But the LG and right side averages maybe 5'10" and 190 lbs. They got pushed around a lot which led to limited rushing yards and hurried passes. That's about it except to say that IHS is really loaded with skill players. There is another Stribling on the way and they have a kid who moved back from Alabama who has talent to play on the next level. The two kids I thought would play QB are at LB and FS. The QB is a senior who has a nice arm and good wheels. He got away from trouble a lot when the line broke down. The Eagles were definitely disciplined, focused, and hit hard. No doubt who is in charge of that team this year.
  13. Summit scrimmaged Smyrna last night at their place. I thought the Bulldogs were a much better team than the two we played in the spring; Station Camp and Wilson Central. Smyrna scored three times on our varsity defense. Summit had a long drive of ones vs ones stopped by a fumble inside the 10. The jv's played next and the Bulldogs scored twice I believe. Summit's jv had an even longer drive stopped by a pick on the goal line. Worked on special teams after that. It was good to get some work in against a traditional and storied big school power that appears to be on the way back up. Summit entertains Fairview Friday night.
  14. Brentwood starts at 6 and Ravenwood at 5. Both at home.
  15. That's interesting! Portland was on our initial scrimmage schedule last April.
  16. ND, you may already know that the Eagles first scrimmage is against Columbia Central on Wednesday. Otherwise....all quiet on the Indy front.
  17. Page had 23 seniors on last years team. Summit had none. That's about as much as you can read into that score. Their seniors were bigger and much more seasoned than the Spartans. But I will say that no one should overlook a new school that does have upperclassmen on the roster. Hopefully we can make you wait for year two to have a homecoming victory. Edit: Just looked back in this thread and saw that y'all beat Page in your scrimmage. I do hope that means something going forward as Summit plays Page out of district this year.
  18. Portland canceled on Summit. So the boys held an intra-squad scrimmage.
  19. Yes. Caroline Patrick's family moved into the Riverdale zone from Summit. She is a 5'10" (maybe even 5'11") guard. Can handle the ball and shoot equally well.
  20. So the question was asked in "11aaa strength of schedule" thread about Summit and DC. I'll answer what I can about Summit in this thread to keep this one the main District thread. It's impossible to guess how the Spartans will do jumping up from AA ball. I guess historically teams take awhile to get going when they make this type of transition. Luckily we were in a very tough AA district going against Giles, Marshall, Lewis, and stronger than usual teams in Page and Fairview. You could tell the difference from year one to year two. In year three our reward is to get promoted as the only 5A school in a competitive 6A district. Summit was about 20 students away from staying in AA. So the expectations should be that it will be a long year. But, a great majority of these boys have been playing Friday night football for two years already. We scrimmaged Wilson Central and Station Camp in the spring and looked good. There's lots of size to along with that experience. The non district games are winnable. So pull an upset or two and maybe the Spartans will find themselves in the 5A playoffs. I know they are ready to go and not worried about the jump to this district. So we will see. Hope that helps a little bit.
  21. SC didn't hire their principal until the end of October 2012. He approached KD a few weeks later about being the AD based on a recommendation of a mutual friend from grad school. Mutual friend knew KD was sending out the resumes; that's why he gave the recommendation to the principal. KD wanted a better situation and it worked out better than he imagined.
  22. Oh ok ND, you're right. I obviously don't know a thing about IHS football. LOL....
  23. Don't know much about any of the teams other than Summit and Indy. But my strong feeling based on returning talent and coaching is that Centennial is the team to beat. Wait till you see Tyrell Dodson run the ball. I know Brentwood lost a lot of players but they return a lot as well. Those boys have been well coached for too long to suddenly get bad. Ravenwood got the son of a new Titans coach and he is supposed to be a stud. They have to be better with the coaching change. Franklin and Dickson County are unknowns to me other than this may be the year the loss of Freedom Middle players catches up to the Rebels. Indy does have, as far as I know at the moment, three D-1 players. Finis will definitely be on the field and is fast as lightening. He prefers defense though. And I've written about it before, but they only have seven linemen. Only one is a senior (Satchell- 6'3"/ 235) and he is the only lineman with any first string varsity playing time last year. There are three juniors, the big one (Dalton- 5'11"/ 260) did get in mop up duty. The other two juniors (twin brothers that list at 5'9" and 180 lbs) and three sophomores (listed at 5'10"/ 165; 5'9"/ 160; and 5'7"/ 160) are going into the fire for the first time. They are also the defensive line. They are small, inexperienced, and there is no depth to spell them as they are forced to go both ways each and every game. It will be interesting to see how they score...it won't be on long drives. As for Summit, I've written extensively once about the Spartans. Y'all may underestimate them which is fine and welcomed to be sure. I hope the other teams do as well. But they were to be the core of this years Indy team (especially on the lines) and their departure via re-zoning was the reason Dyson was sending out resumes before the start of last season.
