  1. 2016 team was good but no where close to the same overall talent level of this team. That team was more consistent passing with Holland and Kennemore than we have been but not in same conversation as 17,19 & 20. 2017 was better than 2016 imo but losing Sawyer Kelly was just too big a blow to overcome against GB in semifinals. He was our game breaker that year and losing him was huge. We took a step back in 2018 with some youth but was still close. This team and 2019 are similar. 2019 was the more consistent and the more seasoned team between them but this team is more explosive on both sides of the ball. Offensive line is isn’t as consistent as last years and our DB’s aren’t as seasoned but everywhere else this team has some very dynamic players. Add that to the fact we haven’t had a game breaker like Frame since Demetric “Little Man” Johnson and probably since Raquis Hale. He has taken his game to another level this year. We haven’t had a WR like Reggie Hunter since Antonio Robinson. Having him along side Mount and Koby Cooper we should be able to pass on any team we play. For whatever reason though that part of the offense has just stalled most of the season but our backs have picked up the slack. The skill level on this team is scary. People will see just that with the seasons that follow with kids that are just waiting their turn. As far as Friday these kids have had this week circled for the last year. Coalfield isn’t the team they wanted but the result will be the same. Don’t be surprised if that cannon isn’t getting fired all night and running clock come the 4th quarter.
  2. Defense played flat and with little emotion similar to Meigs game. Unfortunately I think some of our kids are like some of our fans and are spoiled with winning. It takes a team punching us in the mouth and our crowd getting into a game for us to perform at times. We woke up when needed though. I will admit Monterey was tough nosed football team and wasn’t gonna give us anything. Now on to Gordonsville
  3. Lol nothing happened because they live in Richard City and have since January. Try again
  4. It’s his 30th year coaching in TN. Retirement is maxed out for TN after 30 years. He can retire here and start pulling 50% of his highest 3 years pay and go to Ga and double dip. Why wouldn’t anyone do that? The other stuff mentioned is just speculation and gossip.
  5. This entire year is a disaster. The sports we are getting is really a blessing for the kids & us as adults getting to support them. NBA,NFL,MLB and CFB all are a shell of what they normally are. Without any sports at all though this country would be fighting even more internally. Can’t imagine being a kid and this being my high school memories.
  6. Copper Basin should’ve canceled on Saturday or Sunday. Their HC could’ve made the call then and allowed SP to try and get a game. He chose not to even though he already knew what kids were available and what kids were not. Don’t make this out to be something it’s not Karen. This game could’ve been scheduled earlier in the year and he chose not to do it then as well. We all hope your kids get healthy and you guys can knock off Gordonsville and come back down. Good Luck come playoffs!
  7. No they don’t rely on it. 8 of 11 starters on both sides of ball are born and raised here. Played together since pee wees. Had several others in that group that transferred to North Jackson and Jasper over the years and a couple more that stayed and would’ve been all state caliber kids and just chose not to play. We have always had 1/2 new kids move in and out but this past year we did more than normal. Only 2 of them are full time starters though. The other 3 do play some. Did some of them have friends or family encourage them to make the move? I’m sure they did just like most places but the thought from some of our neighboring people that Vic Grider’s is flying around getting kids to come here is pure ignorance. 2020 has always been circled on the calendar as next best group to come through since 2013. Helped 2021 team more so than this years imo. I don’t see much fall off if any after this year to next.
  8. 3rd quarter would’ve been 21-21 had the pass to Reggie Hunter not been low. Timing in passing game is just off. The snaps have to get fixed or we need to go under center. If that pass is completed. He breezes to a TD. Safety over top was cross on other side of field. Just didn’t make the play. We had a few like that tonight. We completely took the momentum away when we made it 21-14 but just couldn’t finish. #34 is tough and ran hard tonight. I personally think Meigs is in Cookeville come December and we see a repeat of last years state game.
  9. A lot of what you say is the truth except that Vic Grider didn’t go out and get kids. Your an idiot if you really believe that.
  10. Great question but did you see us throwing tonight? It’s not our strength
  11. Clock management isn’t our thing. Never has been a strength really. We struggle in close games. That’s no secret. Should’ve saved last 2 timeouts to stop clock and been more prepared. Our offense struggles enough though doing what they are supposed to do right after a timeout. Asking them to do it no huddle 5/6 plays in a row is probably asking too much. Give Meigs credit. They wanted it more tonight. They whipped us in 1st half. Turned it over several times and played with no emotion. 2nd half our defense gave us chances but man our offense just shot itself in the foot all night with penalties. Passing game has a lot to be desired. We will get better though. 1A still goes through South Pittsburg
  12. We have had our chances. Gotta give our Defense some credit they have done their job and gave us a chance after being down 21-0. Offense is atrocious at times. We would be better off at times never throwing the football. Offense just needs a lot of work. Too many weapons to only put up 14 points.
  13. Mistakes have killed us. Can’t put your team in bad positions by giving away turnovers like we have. Multiple bad snaps and penalties have killed drives. You get all that plus get whipped up front and your not gonna beat anybody. Our team is playing flat. Lucky we are only down 7-21. Our team will get it together but it might not be tonight. Win or lose this is gonna bring us down to earth and make us better come November.
  14. Whipping us up front. We respond in spurts but can’t consistently bring it. Team isn’t showing much fight. Was what I was afraid but this team needs it.
  15. Not having Kelly hurts us. #3 can fill the void but a bigger back against Meigs would really help in a game like this. We gotta have a big game from #1 to win imo. Can’t let them sit in box all night and dictate what we do. Passing game has to deliver in key situations to win this game. I will say 28-21 either way. Should be a good game and awesome environment assuming our offensive line comes to play.
  16. Would love to see SP and NJ sign a 1 year deal and revisit it every year since it’s impossible to sign a 2 year deal with them both having different region games assigned on odd and then even years. Would be a huge deal and help replace the Jasper game. Would be good to play Bledsoe the next two years as well. Meigs and SP needs to continue if we can agree to sign another 2 year deal too. Great fan support on both sides. Went to Meigs vs Greenback last year and Meigs has a great environment. Set with Meigs fans and enjoyed talking with several of them. I think next weeks game is going to be a huge task for SP this year because of our line play. Last year we had the experience where as this year we don’t but we have more size and probably overall talent but haven’t shown we can bring it every play. Wish we had #2 healthy so far he adds a dimension to our team with his size. #3 has been eye opening to most though how much he has stepped up in #2 absence and really improved to be just a Sophomore. He has a great future ahead of him for us. Next Friday I hope Meigs is packed out and music glaring. Any update on capacity being limited?
  17. They call when they are good and don’t return calls when they are not. Polk in 2010 was nasty. Only problem was Alcoa was too. Don’t worry SP will be playing some bigger schools next few years. Some will be losses some won’t. As far as this game I think Bledsoe wins but might be closer than some think. They better handle their business in this one if they are gonna make some noise come November. Marion will make a deep run too.....next year.
  18. SP has zero business playing Oakland. It would be boys vs men. Oakland is arguably the best team in the entire state. Best in 1A vs best in 6A. That’s just a no win situation and everyone that’s says differently just would like to see SP get torched and half our players injured. I will admit they did call though but even they still wanted to be paid to come here. This season is what it is. Should just be thankful it gets finished if it gets finished.
  19. Nobody is undermining anyone. Your great at spreading gossip and rumors that float around Jasper on here aren’t you? There has been no meeting that has taken place between donors that much I know. That is 110% false. Good to see that the Pirates are still on you guys minds though.
  20. Lol 60 kids rotating is a bit of a stretch. Y’all had the horses last year. If your team can beat ours this year with what we have and what you lost we might as well shut the program down.
  21. Well we sure hope you guys make that far this year but I have a feeling you won’t. It def won’t be quite as satisfying if you don’t.
  22. Better double check the roster. Junior class is loaded with some grown men. Kelly, Gamble, Davis, Jo, Reynolds, Hunter Twins, Jackson, Hammond, Hill all contribute or start now. If your waiting on a fall your gonna be waiting a little longer.
