  1. Wow, just took a look, Morristown West is 70-16 at home and 42-25 on the road since 2001. Burke-Toney has been good to the Trojans. 4 of those home losses came against Maryville.
  2. Sevier County [10-2 (7-0) last year] always one of the top 6A teams in the area, and that will be no different this year. Morristown West [8-4 (5-2) last year] they do lose Malachi Horton, but their QB and a few young running backs came on late last year and they will have a much improved passing game so it shouldn't hurt too much, They've also got a lot of talent on the defensive side of the ball. Jefferson County [8-3 (5-2) last year] is talented but one dimensional on offense and lost some key defenders. The Jeff Co.- Mo. West matchup will probably decide 2nd Place in the conference again. South Doyle [7-4 (4-3) last year] had a huge turnaround season last year but was senior heavy so they will be a big question mark coming into the season. Cherokee [6-5 (4-3) last year] loses most of their main contributors, including their best player in school history. They're never an easy out but this looks to be a rebuilding year. Seymour [4-6 (1-6) last year] was young last year, look for them to improve and maybe even make it back to the 5A playoffs. Cocke County [3-7 (1-6) last year] just doesn't have the numbers to be competitive, I think they're headed back to the cellar this year. Morristown East [1-9 (1-6) last year] this year will be better simply because it can't get much worse than the season they had last year. I see them winning more games, but making the 6A playoffs would take a small miracle
  3. It's normally just pass heavy spread attacks. They've been able to hold Greeneville's run-heavy spread attack down the past few years, but Sevier, and Tennessee High really exposed them last year, even Cherokee was able to keep it close in both meetings with their passing attack. West has a good group coming back in the secondary next year though, I'm sure Coach Brown has a plan to keep the passing attacks under wrap this year.
  4. Side 1 (Sevier Hosts) Sevier vs Cocke Co. Seymour vs Jeff Co Side 2 (Mo West Hosts) Mo West vs Cherokee SD vs Mo East
  5. If both South Doyle and Morristown West win all of their remaining games they'll finish 10-4 in IMAC play which would be tied for 2nd. They split their 2 games this season, so what would be the tiebreaker should they both win out
  6. West and Jeff both bring a lot back, but until West figures out how to consistently defend Sevier Co's spread attack I don't see them getting over the hump and beating Sevier for the IMAC title. Jeff has a lot of weapons on offense but they're extremely 1 dimensional, West had 8 or 9 in the box every snap against them and i think they completed 2 passes for 15 yards. But after the top 3 the IMAC is looking to have a pretty down year, Cherokee lost most of their starters to graduation including the best player they've ever had in Ty Ryans, Mo. East and Seymour are coming off dismal seasons, South Doyle was much improved last year but they were also senior heavy, and I don't see Cocke County getting any better.
  7. Conference Standings as of 4/17 1. Sevier County 11-1 2. South Doyle 8-3 3. Seymour 7-3 4. Jefferson County 7-4 5. Morristown West 5-4 6. Morristown East 3-7 7. Cherokee 0-9 8. Cocke County 0-10 Sevier Co. has the Regular season title all but locked up, but the race for 2nd could get interesting. South Doyle is in 2nd right now but have 3 tough games remaining (Jeff twice and Seymour) Seymour has 2 against Sevier and 1 against South Doyle and a make up game against Cherokee. Mo. West is sitting at 5-4 in the conference but could easily go 4-1 or even 5-0 down the stretch with games against Cocke Co. Cherokee, Jeff and 2 against Mo East. Jeff is in a solid position at 7-4 but also have a tough final 3 games down the strech (SD twice and Mo. West) I think the last few weeks of the IMAC season could be interesting to watch.
  8. I saw Jeff play twice last year and thought if they had any passing game at all they'd be dangerous. Mo West put 9 in the box every play but they couldn't complete a pass. I also thought the qb and rb both tried to get to the corner way to much instead of cutting upfield and getting 4 or 5 yards.
  9. First off, Congrats to THS for the great second half comeback, great game to watch. It was especially frustrating to watch for the West fans because offensive adjustments were obviously needed but weren't made, This has been the case all year. The gameplan is power run game until they stop it, except when they do stop it, keep going. The Vikings obviously found an answer for it, but we just kept running up the middle and would mix in a long throw off of play action. Its a shame these seniors had to go out like this.
  10. This could come down to the West pass rush. They've had success when they have QBs running around, trying to get rid of the ball. Even with good running QBs they get out to the edge and force throws, either across the field or just toss ups.
  11. Thanks, and good luck to the Wildcats from Morristown!
  12. I don't expect him to get recruited by a big time school like UT. Hes quick and can run but not like Devrin Young. His game is his vision, he sees the holes before they open, does a good job of feeling for cutbacks, and follows his blockers. He's also a great return man and cover corner. He hasn't played corner this year because they need him getting 25 carries a game, but he was 1st team all IMAC as a db last year. I could see him being a solid 1-AA or small 1-A recruit.
  13. He's about 5'11 180. I think he could potentially be a d-1 prospect, he's got all the tools IMO.
  14. The thing about it is, he missed most of the Science Hill game, all of the South Doyle game, and was used very conservatively against Mo East. He's only a junior, if they can replace some key guys on the O-Line he could easily rush for 2000 next year.
  15. Different O coordinator but you won't be able to tell. Alot of 2 TE sets with between the tackles runs. Most of the passing game is PA to prevent the defense from loading up the box. Horton is definitely a stud. Very patient, shifty and has great vision. He owes alot of success to the offensive line as well. Big guys but quick enough to get to downfield and spring long runs.
  16. Then West will definitely be in trouble if the offense can't stay on the field.
  17. No, I said there weren't many teams. And last year's title isn't going to help you. I just came to this thread to make a pick since I've seen both teams live. I should have thought better of that since I know Greeneville fans won't respect any opinion other than one saying Greeneville is the best ever.
  18. Where did anyone say that? I referenced in both teams play this year and said I think Fulton is the better team.
  19. Alcoa and Knox West are 2 of the best teams in the state. And it took everything West had to beat them.
  20. Just my opinion, I've seen both teams play and I don't think there are many teams in any classification that can hang with Fulton.
  21. Fulton 31 Greeneville 24 Fulton has a huge offensive line and a whole stable of athletes.
  22. If West comes out as flat as they did against Cherokee, they'll be in for a long night. I actually think THS is a more favorable match up for West because they have struggled quite a bit against pass-heavy teams (Cherokee, Sevier Co., Science Hill). Horton and the O-Line need to have another big night and the passing game needs to get back on track.
  23. Also, congratulations to Malachi Horton and the Morristown West offensive line for breaking the school record for rushing yards in a season. The previous record holder was former UT running back and NFL 1st round pick, James "Little Man" Stewart.
  24. Ryans wanted it more than anyone on the field. He might the best hs qb I've watched live.
