  1. I can't see Dickson Co. being that high. They'll be battling to stay out of the bottom of the district I would think. They lost Sneed and Rial. Unless they've got some younger talent coming up, I don't think they'll be contending.
  2. Ok, well tell me what I've missed. Because if Springfield is 8th, it'll be the shocker of the year. Unless Stanton has transferred, there's no way Dickson, Clarksville, Kenwood, or Northwest finishes in front of them.
  3. Ok, I'm not gonna sit here and listen to you degrade a school by calling them "trash." So you're saying that everyone affiliated with Rossview is trash? Very classy sir. So calling people "a piece of trash" is good behavior, right? And how exactly can you tell Rossview to be ready in the districts? And what does football or baseball have anything to do with this discussion? And from what I can recall, you've been put out by them two years in a row in basketball in the first round of the district. Beat Rossview when it really matters, and then you can make those types of claims.
  4. This is why things are going to get blown completely out of proportion. To say that the assistant coach from Rossview "slapped the HC player twice" is completely false. While I didn't see everything that was happening at that very second, he did not slap the player twice, I can tell you that for sure. The referees were horrible from start to finish, and the game got out of hand quickly. Cheap shots were thrown all the over the place, and the refs never got a hold of the game. Things occurred during the handshake after the game which led to the eventual scuffle, but to repeat, a coach did not "slap" a player. It was just completely sad to see people handle themselves the way they did tonight, and if this is what high school basketball has come to, it's absolutely ridiculous. EDIT: And after seeing the posts that were entered while I was posting this one, you people clearly have your version of the story. So this will turn into a pointless argument since everyone thinks they know the complete truth.
  5. Ok before anyone says anything, understand that everyone is going to have their own story as to what happened, so it's very likely that things are going to be told that aren't actually accurate. I wouldn't believe everything you hear. There was an ugly scene that broke out at the conclusion of the game, and it was honestly really sad to see people behave that way.
  6. Same with Henry County. They're good, but they are clearly beatable. But I'm not acting like Rossview is the best team in the state right now, because they aren't. Never said they were unbeatable, just said that they were the better team in the earlier season matchup. That may change tonight, and if it does, then we'll go from there. And I'm not here to put down Henry County as I said before. They are a really good team, and they have a chance to make it far in the district/region, as does Rossview. Should be an interesting rest of the year.
  7. Ok I usually don't get on here to argue, just to support the district. However, if my calculations are correct, Rossview beat Henry County earlier in the season. Who cares what they did against Ensworth and Beech. That is irrelevant at this point. By your definition, Rossview beating Henry County wouldn't classify itself as accomplishing something? To me, that's a huge win for Rossview, especially in Paris. I expect it to be another good game tonight that could go either way. We will see. Again, I'm not here to bash Henry County, but please don't talk smack about a team until you've actually beaten them. So if you win tonight, then you can say whatever you want. I have no problem with that. From what I recall, Williams' first shot was a bank three. The rest of his points came inside where he dominated the boards. Get the facts straight. And stop making excuses that your best guard was hurt. Injuries happen, and he still played. You don't think there are kids out there playing with injuries every night? Rossview was the better team that night. Who will be the better team tonight? That remains to be seen. Both of these teams are really good and it should be an exciting game.
  8. Rossview, Northeast, and Clarksville all sit at 4-1 in the district now. Henry County and Springfield are 3-2. Northwest is 2-3, with Kenwood and Dickson at 0-5. Friday: Rossview at Kenwood Northeast at Northwest Springfield at Clarksville Henry Co. at Dickson Co.
  9. So Rossview beats Northwest last night, Clarksville beats Henry Co., Springfield blows out Dickson, and Northeast blows out Kenwood. About what we expected to see, although the Clarksville-Henry Co. game could have went either way.
  10. Impressive win for Rossview last night on the road. That was a great game to watch from start to finish, and it was good to see the Hawks pull out a nice victory over one of the better Henry Co. teams I've seen in recent years. It was just a matter of time before Williams had a big game, and last night was his night to break out. Rossview, Henry Co, Clarksville, and Springfield all sit at 2-1 now in the district, behind the 3-0 Northeast team. Should be an interesting next couple of weeks in this district.
  11. Ok guys, district play begins tomorrow night. Here's the schedule: Northeast at Clarksville Dickson County at Rossview Kenwood at Henry County Northwest at Springfield Should be another competitive year in this district.
  12. Yeah Rossview beat Portland 72-56. It shouldn't have been that close. They were up 23 at the half, but had a sluggish second half. Northwest-Gallatin seemed like it was a good game. I heard from a couple people that Beech beat Clarksville pretty handily, but I can't confirm that.
  13. Anyone have any results on any of the teams in the district that participated in playdays over the past weekend? I saw Rossview at the Liberty Tech playday, and this team seems to be for real. It's going to be tough for teams in this district and region to stop their inside game. Who else played over the weekend? And is there anyone playing this upcoming weekend?
  14. I think that was a very good assessment of the playday. There were good games all over the place throughout the day. Melrose, Liberty, and Rossview were all pretty impressive. The best game of the day that I saw was Rossview vs. Liberty, with Liberty squeaking one out at the end. Lots of talent on both of those teams, and Liberty has some outstanding guard play. Their press was giving Rossview fits early, but once they got into the flow of the game, they handled it pretty well. You were right, the kid you were talking about is Jonathan Williams. They have a dominant inside game that is going to give a lot of teams trouble this season. It's unfortunate that Rossview had to play back-to-back against Liberty and Melrose, as I think they could have given Melrose a better game in that second one, but Melrose is absolutely loaded. And that's not just in their starting lineup. They go 12 deep, and have tons of young talent. They were the most talented team from top to bottom at the playday. All in all, it was a great day for a basketball fan. Very competitive games, and lots of D1 talent to watch. It would have been nice to see Reaves there for Bolivar. I would expect that all of these teams will be extremely successful this season, and you'll probably see a handful of these teams in Murfreesboro in March.
  15. I don't think that's necessarily a bad prediction, although I don't see Springfield finishing first. No question, Stanton can lead them to wins given the amount of talent that he has, but teams will simply focus on shutting him down. If and when teams decide to completely go after him, can the other guys step up? That remains to be seen. I just see it being Rossview and Northeast battling for the top spot all year long. These two teams are loaded. And I think Kenwood will be a little bit higher than people think. I'm not a Kenwood fan, but they've got enough talent to challenge the top teams. I'd say Henry-Kenwood should be 3 and 4.
  16. Dickson should be ok, but I wouldn't expect them to be in the top four. Losing Primm and Bell really hurt, as they were probably the top two scorers for them last season. As for Springfield, they could certainly contend for a district title, but Stanton has got to get some help from the other players around him. I just don't know if they have the inside game to compete with Rossview and Northeast.
  17. In getting back to the actual topic, this district should once again be competitive from top to bottom. Rossview and Northeast should be the favorites heading into the season, as both have lots of talent returning. Henry County should be towards the top. And it wouldn't surprise me to see Kenwood in one of those top four spots. They've always had the talent, but now they've got a good coach to go along with that. Springfield may contend if they get enough help around Stanton. As for Dickson and Clarksville, they each lost their best player, so I can't really see either one of them winning the district. They'll be solid, but won't be nearly as good as they were last year. Northwest has Rudolph, and a new coach, but not really sure what else they've got.
  18. Anyone know if Gallatin is having a team camp again this year?
  19. Here is the bracket and first round results from District 10AAA Girls: Thursday - February 15, 2007 #1 Clarksville-Northeast over #8 Springfield, 85-39 #5 Rossview over #4 Clarksville, 57-44 #3 Henry Co. over #6 Kenwood, 60-28 #2 Dickson Co. over #7 Northwest, 59-17 Saturday - February 17, 2007 at Kenwood High School #1 Clarksville-Northeast vs. #5 Rossview, 4:00 P.M. #2 Dickson Co vs. #3 Henry Co., 7:00 P.M. Monday - February 19, 2007 at Kenwood High School Championship Game Northeast/Rossview winner vs. Dickson Co./Henry Co. winner, 7:30 P.M. Consolation Game Northeast/Rossview loser vs. Dickson Co./Henry Co. loser, 6:00 P.M.
  20. I'll take Clarksville over Henry County by 15 or so. Dickson Co. over Springfield in a close game. Rossview over Northwest. I just don't think Rossview loses this must-win district contest. Northeast over Kenwood easily.
  21. Well I don't think the district looks anywhere near what some people predicted, including myself, but there is still a long way to go at this point. I think that the most intriguing matchup on Friday will be the Stewart Co vs. Creekwood game. I honestly thought I would never say that, but these two teams have performed beyond some expectations this season. Creekwood is coming off the upset win against Harpeth, and Stewart a loss to McEwen. I'll take Stewart Co. by 2. However, I would not be suprised if Creekwood comes out of Dover with a victory. Perhaps the second best matchup of the night comes in Waverly. As it has been said, Cheatham has won three straight in Waverly, and in my opinion I see that number moving to four straight. I think Cheatham Co. wins this close game. Harpeth over Fairview. Sycamore over Mont. Central.
  22. Well, any other time I think you could say home court advantage would help Waverly, but in this case I don't think it will. Waverly hasn't beat Cheatham County in Waverly since the 2001-2002 season. Yes, this is a different Cheatham County team than previous years. But if Cheatham plays well they should win this game in my opinion. I don't really know what Waverly has this season, but it should be a good game. I'll take Cheatham by five.
  23. Before the season actually began, I thought Harpeth could possibly win every district game. However, seeing how Sycamore has played so far this season, I give Sycamore the edge tonight. Since it is at Harpeth, Sycamore only wins by about 7. It should be a great game though.
  24. First of all, I don't think Cheatham gets dominated tonight as most people think. I think that they will come out and play alot better than they did Friday night against Sycamore. As it has been stated, Cheatham just doesn't have all of their players right now. They will be a better team after Christmas. But for now, they will struggle. Harpeth wins this one by 15. As for Sycamore and Harpeth on Friday, I'm gonna wait on that pick. It's a toss-up right now.
  25. I do think Northeast will be better than people give them credit for. Also, after watching the jamboree, Northwest has definitely improved. Kenwood will be a contender in my opinion if they get Lyons back, because Freeman Pinkney can flat out play. It's tough to tell about Clarksville by watching the jamboree, as their best players didn't play as often as they will in the regular season. Also, I think Rossview will suprise some people this season. Even though they are a young team, they play hard and could pull a few upsets this season.
