  1. I would love to see them win the state, and I personally think they will. I thought they played their best game against Houston Co. last week and then I thought they played very well against New Prospect. I think they will beat Harpeth tomorrow and play Lewis Co. in the championship. If they play good basketball, they can win the tournament.
  2. Sorry if it was inaccurate, just my opinion. Like I said, I am a Cheatham fan, but I think Ellis will get the votes. Yes, I do believe Attebery and Ellis have even talent levels, they are both outstanding point guards for their respective team. I just believe since Harpeth finished first in the district, Ellis will get the award. If I had a vote, to be honest, I wouldn't know who to give it to. It's that close right now. Now as for Tournament MVP, I believe it will go to Baines, but that is for a different topic.
  3. I thought he was a pretty good player. Great athlete, could jump out of the gym, and had a nice shot. Thats why I thought he was still playing somewhere.
  4. What are your predictions for the remaining boys and girls game that will take place on Friday? BOYS #1 Harpeth vs. #2 New Prospect #1 Summertown vs. #2 Cheatham GIRLS #1 Lewis County vs. #2 Charlotte #1 Cheatham vs. #3 Harpeth
  5. There is no doubt in my mind that Alex should be starting on the varsity. I believe he is one of the best players at Bethel. Hopefully he will get his chance to prove himself. I thought Roman would have went somewhere. Guess not. Was he recruited by anyone?
  6. Cheatham and Harpeth will definitely be there. Even with all the mess surrounding Cheatham, they are still one of the best teams in the state. It's a toss-up as to how far these two teams will get in the tournament.
  7. Although I am a Cheatham County fan, I would have to say Nikki Ellis gets it this season. I do believe Abby is a close second though. She could possibly win it as well. But next year, I see Abby winning this award hands-down.
  8. Well since they are deciding where to put Cheatham in the tournament, here's how it will go. IF CHEATHAM IS LAST SEED : 1. Cheatham 2. Harpeth 3. Stewart Co. 4. Mont. Central IF CHEATHAM IS SECOND SEED : 1. Cheatham 2. Harpeth 3. Sycamore 4. Stewart Co. MVP - Kristen Banes Casey Attebery Abby Lawson Nikki Ellis Mendenhall
  9. Sorry for the typo. I just edited it. Harpeth beat Houston Co. in girls consolation. I believe that is the correct bracket on the girls side. On the boys side : 1. Harpeth 4. Hickman Co. 2. New Prospect 3. Houston Co. 1. Summertown 4. Waverly 2. Cheatham 3. South Lawrence
  10. Sorry I just got home. Here's what went down tonight in Charlotte. Harpeth Girls defeated the Houston Co. Girls in the consolation game. Houston Co. beat Waverly in the boys consolation game by about twelve. Ok game. Cheatham Girls beat Charlotte Girls 23-21 in the championship game. Very good ball game. Both teams struggled to score though. Harpeth beat Cheatham in the boys championship game by about 14 or so. Cheatham played terrible, that's about all you can say. Give credit to Harpeth's defense. Good luck to everyone in the state tournament next week.
  11. I will post the results later tonight once all the games are final. Thank you, have a nice day.
  12. If Cheatham struggles to guard Erland like last time, it will be over for them quickly. If they can contain him, I believe Cheatham meets Waverly in the finals and its a tossup from there.
  13. Harpeth 68 Sycamore 58. I don't Derrick is the big factor here. The question is if Sycamore has anybody to stop Scott Erland. If not, it will be a long night for the War Eagles.
  14. Well I thought this was the MVP thread. Anyways, my vote goes to either Ricco or Noel. No suprise there. I would give my vote to Noel.
  15. Just to inform everyone last night of the games at Charlotte Middle School. GIRLS #1 Cheatham Girls destroyed Houston County Girls. Very one-sided. Enough said. Charlotte Girls beat Harpeth girls. BOYS #1 Harpeth beat #4 Waverly in a one sided game in the first semifinal game. Didn't get to see much of it, so not much detail. # 3 Cheatham beat # 2 Houston County in probably one of the best, if not the best middle school basketball game I have experienced. The first half it was close and Cheatham led by six at the half. In the second half, Cheatham jumped out to a fifteen point lead, but Houston Co. decided to step up and came back to make it a seven point game going into the fourth quarter. Then, it was back and forth and Houston Co. scored with about 11 seconds left to tie the game. Cheatham had a chance to win at the end, but missed a 15 ft. shot. That sent the game into OT where it was back and forth the entire way. Cheatham missed a shot and fouled Ethan Dillard, which is going to be a very good basketball player one day, which sent him to the line with 7.4 to go. Dillard hit both foul shots to put Houston Co. up one. Cheatham called timeout with 5.4 to go. Cheatham brought the ball in and got the ball to Terrance Scott, who is the best player in the district hands-down. With Dillard guarding him, Scott took a tough 14 ft. shot and nailed it to win it for Cheatham. For those in attendance, you definitely got your money's worth. The two teams could possibly play in the Semis of the state next week. Houston Co. will play Waverly for third place. 5:00 Cheatham will play Harpeth for the Area Championship at 8:00 Saturday
  16. Well, I must say that the Cheatham girls played their best game of the year last night. They were solid on both ends of the floor. Now in response to the "classless" comment made towards Coach Carter. First of all, maybe the beating they gave to Houston County makes them feel better and have more confidence heading into the state tournament next week. In my opinion, why should a coach penalize his players for playing well? If they are on a roll like they were last night, why the heck should you take them out. To be honest with you, I would have did the same thing. Another point. Those 8th grade girls have four games or less left in their middle school careers. Why not let them have a little fun. What is a coach suppose to do, tell his team to stop playing and sit out there and hold the ball. I think not. Like I said earlier, they played better last night than I have seen them play all season. Next year, it will be time for high school basketball, a big change. I didn't see any lack of respect last night, I clearly saw a team play very well and beat a team that was not as good as they were. I mean, you can't help your better than the other team. Not being mean, but that's just how I feel. Good luck to the girls and guys in the state tournament.
  17. With alot of help Cheatham can still win the district. I just don't think Waverly will lose three more times though. Right now, I believe Cheatham, Harpeth, Sycamore, and Creekwood are playing for the No.2 seed. Who knows what will happen in the next few weeks, but I look for the Cubs to be the No.2 seed and Harpeth to be the No.3 seed.
  18. Moulton might be tough to defend for the Cubs, but I still think Sycamore has to shoot the ball very well to win the game. Either way, I believe the Cubs will win this one and beat Sycamore for the second time this season. I look for Noel to have a great game.
  19. This should be a very good game in 10AA. If Harpeth can conrol the pace of the game and Derrick keeps his cool, then I think the Indians can be the team to upset Waverly. If Waverly plays their best game, Waverly will win by 15 to 20. But if Harpeth can keep it close the entire way, I like their chances to win the game and give Waverly their first loss in 10AA.
  20. Well, I believe Waverly will lose at least one game. I think Cheatham or Harpeth could give them a fight, even though Cheatham plays at Waverly. Cheatham has won there the past two seasons and always seems to play well there. So we will see what goes down. There should be some very interesting games in the next few weeks.
