  1. Westmoreland still runs the Wing-T. I believe their strong point is the Defense. They are not giving up alot of points. They have not played a team like Gordonsville yet. Gordonsville wins the game in the trenches and Watson and Cason have big nights. Gordonsville gets the win by 3+ TD's
  2. If you know Coach Marshall well you know he never takes a week off. Trust me, this game with Westmoreland is the most important game of the season at this point. Overall record plays a big factor in playoff seeding in 1A to determine home field. This game is not meaningless. No game is. The only way for Gordonsville to continue to get better is to continue to compete each weak. Westmoreland is a very respected and formidable opponent. Their record speaks for itself and the Defense is very good. I know Coach Kelly isn't Coaching anymore but his influence is still part of this team and that means alot. Gordonsville will be prepared and the young men will be ready to play. I am looking forward to this game. Both schools have a long history of great games. Could be another one.
  3. You can talk numbers all you want, Mr. Long didn't finish the game against Gordonsville. Where was he in the fourth quarter during crunch time? Trust me, If he cant take it at little ole' GHS then what makes anyone think he can handle the physical play of Division 1 Football. This week against Trousdale I believe they will have the same approach against Long.
  4. I am not trying to convince anyone of anything. I know he reportedly has offers from these schools according to those sources on the internet. This info. was also being reported prior to him even taking a snap at FCS. Has Arizona, UCLA, or Syracuse or Oregon for that matter watched the Gordonsville-FCS Film yet? It is available through HUDL. If they watched that film, they may "offer" scholarships to a couple of Gordonsville Players if they believed Long was that good.
  5. Hopefully he will play at Turney Ford Field Throughout the playoffs and at TN Tech in December. I am not saying Mr. Long isn't a good QB and yes I believe he can play at the next level. But in Head to Head Competition this year, Watson was better than Long, period. Also, If Long found it too physical at Gordonsville, then what will he do in the Pac-10, Big 12, SEC, NAIA, OVC, etc, etc, etc. Got to be TOUGH to play with the big boys. I just dont see that in him right now. Alot of kids "get looks" from big schools. What matters is the line being signed and playing time earned.
  6. During that Era, TPS was very good and a Private School. And by the way, Gordonsville's State Championship team in 1984 was won during the old 3 Classification system, no Private School Multipliers and you had to win district to even get to playoffs. Gordonsville beat Memphis Evangelical Christian School, now a Division II School. In those days, Championships were really earned.
  7. Whoa, hang on a minute. I know I did not say Gordonsville was 28 points better and any team in 1A. I see a touchdown difference either way right now between Gordonsville, South Pitt and Greenback. To me, in no certain order these are the three best teams in 1A. We will have to see what the the rest of the season brings before we can determine which one of these three are the best.
  8. Listen, Gordonsville and Moore County have had some great games with each other in the past, but this season there is no way Moore County is within 4 TD's of Gordonsville. If they are as good as you say they are then they will at least make it to the Semi Finals and may win 1A. Is that what you are saying?
  9. I believe Trousdale will pull this one out. All I keep hearing is AJ this and AJ that. If it weren't for his recievers making some outstanding catches and lack of competiton, his numbers would not be where they are. I believe he is very talented and will play at the next level, but, against good competition he has yet to prove much. He couldn't even finish the Gordonsville game and the backup did just as good as he did throwing the ball. To me, the Jackson County QB showed me just as much as Long did throwing the ball and in fact I believe The JC QB is tougher. I just think Trousdale will not be done the way Gordonsville did them twice in a season. By the way, the best QB in Region 4 -1A is Payton Watson, hands down, not AJ Long. Head to Head competition proves that.
  10. I agree. Jackson County is very capable of running the table the rest of the season. Your quarterback #12 is as tough of a kid as I have seen. He took some shots against Gordonsville the other night and kept getting right back up and standing in the pocket. He is by far the toughest quarterback we have seen this season to this point.
  11. Johnson for South Pitt is better than Manning. He is similar size but much faster. While Manning was a difference in that game with Carthage, it also made a difference that #4 McCoy did not play. McCoy is a difference maker on Defense. If McCoy plays he and #46 Payne slow Manning down significantly. #4 and #46 for Gordonsville may be one of the best linebacker tandems in 1A. With all this said, alot of work needs to be done before Playoff Matchups are discussed. I expect South Pitt, Gordonsville and Greenback to be right there at the end and may the best team win. Good Luck to South Pitt the rest of the way.
  12. I believe 1A and 2A are combined for Mr. Football. If that is the case, Head to Head competition would give Gordonsville's Payton Watson, Tyler Coen, Cody Payne, Brandon McCoy and Kaelin Cason the advantage over these to very good players you have named. You mentioned that Long has not played an entire game yet and it was because of the Gordonsville Defense led by McCoy and the others mentioned Long did not and/or could not finish that game. Also, #62 for FCS was manhandled that night, especially in the second half by Coen and fullback Nic Payne as they went off his side the biggest part of the second half. Late in the game, he was having a hard time getting up off the ground. Both of these FCS players are both very good but for purposes of this award, head to head competition speaks for itself.
  13. I am going with the "upset" here. TC by a touchdown. TC will be ready to play. Alot of pride and tradition on the line.
  14. The one thing that has really been noticeable about RBS the past couple of seasons is they really look prepared and have a very positive attitude. Coach Shoulders is really the right man for the job there. Hopefully he will stay away from the black hole for coaches on the other side of the county. I do believe Gordonsville will take care of busniness in this one. They are playing well right now. One game at a time.
