  1. Ummmno, I am curious. Where will you be coaching next season?
  2. Update: The camp will be held in the high school gym instead of the middle school gym. Enter the complex through the elementary gate and proceed to your right behind the elementary school building. Once behind the elementary school you will be looking directly at the high school gym. There is only one entrance to the gym and there will be a sign to guide you in the right direction. 2 spots left.
  3. Coaches, Goodpasture will host its second annual Goodpasture Invitational Tournament January 13, 2018. We will be opening up the tournament to more teams than what we had for 2017 and and we will be changing the team fee to accommodate smaller teams with fewer wrestlers. We have added 3 teams already in addition to 9 teams that have already committed from the 2017 tournament. We will increase the team trophies from top 2 to top 4 and the medals will have customized stamps on the back to reflect the event and placement. We will still be doing the championship finals on a single mat in the middle of the gym with tournament lighting. In addition we will offer 4 wrist bands per team instead of 3. We look foreward to hearing from you. Let me know if you are interested and we will add you to the list. You can email me at hamblinconstruction@yahoo.com
  4. We are going to open up 10 more spaces for this camp.
  5. Now that the dust has settled who can tell me which boys will represent Tennessee at the Nuway Nationals and at which weight classes will they represent? According to nuway there are 17 weight classes at 12u to represent but at the Tenway state tournament there were only 8 weight classes. I understand the reason for bunching kids together to get matches but does this not create complications when it comes time to fill the actual weight classes for nationals? Who makes the decision now who to put where? I am sure Nuway nationals will not create new weight classes to accommodate the Tennessee state tournaments weight classes so who at Tenway gets this job and by which standards will they use to determine who actually earned what?
  6. Still a few spaces available. Act quick
  7. Perhaps you can explain why Mr. Dean as well as so many other parents and coaches in Michigan promoted MYWA to begin with. You seem to know something about it. Maybe some folks would have a better understanding why they did it. Maybe some folks affiliated with AAU don't know the truth. I think some do and I'm not naming names here, but choose to ignore it and they are making the same mistakes that folks affiliated with AAU Michigan were making. Mostly selfishness and greed. Some others may see NUWAY as a continuation of folkstyle into the Freestyle/Greco Roman season. I don't believe calling people out on coacht is going to solve the problems or resolve differences but instead will create more problems and differences. You may like to eat McDonald's and I may not. It doesnt mean McDonald's isn't good, right? Fairness and honesty still goes a long way in our society and I believe we can still be civil towards each other and accomplish our goals and desires. It's for the kids after all. NUWAY and USA seem to have a good relationship in Michigan today, AAU not so much. I am not trying to change peoples minds about one organization over another, I am simply saying a better understanding of the problem may help with the cure.
  8. There has been a slight change in the schedule due to the fact we won't have the gym Sunday. Here is the new schedule. Friday check in is at 330pm. Friday session 500pm-745pm. Saturday sessions 900am-1100am. 1230pm-230pm. Lunch. 230pm-330pm. We will serve pizza. 400pm-645pm. The instruction time is the same and you dont have to make the trip out Sunday. Everything else is the same. The showers will still be available after the first and second session Saturday. Sorry if this has become an inconvenience to you.

  10. Travis McIntosh is coming. He's an assistant and he's great at explaining the technique step by step. Travis will bring some of the Graham high school kids to assist.
  11. There will be a 60 person limit. I am still getting things put together. If you are interested in attending you can email me at hamblinconstruction@yahoo.com and I will put your name on the list. Coach Jordan will not be in attendance, sorry. If you go to their Web site you will see a link to their wall of fame. They have not updated the past two years but you can see who has been to their camp from Tennessee prior to 2016. The wall of fame consists of boys who have won state titles. You will recognize some Tennessee names as well as some neighbors just north of us.
  12. I realize this is a bit off topic but do you have any idea what sort of schedule will be available next year for Tenway?
  13. Jeff Jordan's State Champ Camp coming to Goodpasture school March 24-26. More info to follow.
  14. Nothing actually. I put this out there because I will not be at the small school scheduling meeting this year and I didn't want these coaches to think I wasn't hosting again because of the move. Make sense?
  15. Coaches. Even though we will be in division 2 next season we are still planning on running our tournament. Anyone wanting to return or anyone looking to get into the event please email me at hamblinconstruction@yahoo.com Thanks
  16. 2 names come to mind. Dayne Dalrymple of the Memphis Wave and Riley Bennett of Fairview
  17. How about we leave them be now. It would be the gracious thing to do.
  18. He wrestled at Cheatham. Sycamore was the destination prior to that but the firing of a coach that year discouraged the family and they decided not to participate at Sycamore. He and his brother sure would have been a nice addition to a team that had just completed a good year with a top 4 finish in small school duals. Such is life!
  19. What date is considered the transition date between folkstyle and freestyle/greco? I know that there is a bit of conflict regarding this period. I would like to avoid that while planning my camp
  20. This may help a little. A couple years ago we were approached by a D2 private about a co-op because they did not have wrestling. We are a d1 private currently. We entered the agreement because our numbers are low and I couldn't see a kid having to sit when he wanted to wrestle. A little deeper into the situation, they had signed an agreement with a metro Nashville public school and it was accepted by the tssaa but metro balked and canceled the agreement. What we had not considered at the time was we were d1 and they were d2. We could only accept certain athletes so that we were not in violation of the rules, ie financial aid and scholorship. The athlete was not on scholarship and he did not receive aid. Hope this helps
  21. Well new guy I hope you are correct. Jay has come a long way this year
