Nobody is hating on dyersburg. They had a great season and a record that nobody believed they would have. That being said, they were ver much overrated. They did not really beat any team that is still relevant this year. I very much expected them to win last night in a close game. All I'm trying to explain to DHStennis is that just because trezvant beat dyersburg handily does not mean that they are amazing and the best thing since sliced bread. I realize that trezvant is a very good team, but lets not act like the beating of dyersburg is a win of a lifetime.

DHStennis. Neither Millington or Brighton are good teams. Dyersburg got smoked by both of the good teams that they played this year. They beat a bunch of inferior opponents and lost a combined 47-3 to the two good teams they played. Covington has beaten every team that they have faced this year. To say that Covington is overrated is a joke. There comes a time after Covington has beaten every team they have played that you have to ask if every team is bad, or is Covington just THAT good. Every team that Covington has seen all year has had a much bigger Offensive and defensive line, so that won't be any different from any other game. Just because dyersburg was beaten handily by trezvant does not mean that trezvant is the best team in west Tennessee. I can send you a postcard from MTSU if you want me to. That way maybe you will get it thru your skull that I live in middle Tennessee. Im sorry that your team lost, but do not act like trezvant is the best team in the world because they beat dyersburg. Oh, I'm sure Bobby Bowden would agree with me on this one too, I just spoke to him a few weeks ago while he was speaking on campus to the football team here a middle. I think it's a little bit of both. Dyersburg was very much overrated and trezvant was very much underrated.

Looks like Dyersburg fell victim to a weak schedule. All the talk about the rematch with Covington, and they got out a get smoked by the first good team they play since Covington. Obviously Dyersburg was not as good as every one wanted to believe.

Heard he's not out for the season. Just this week for sure and possibly next week.

Will be anxious to see how the Chargers come out this week. With 2 or 3 players being injured in a car wreck this week, the defensive line will look a little bit different without a key lineman for a week or 2. 1 or 2 of the linebackers and a running back will also miss the game Friday night due to injurys from that same car wreck.

With 23 seniors I think its safe to say that this will be the last hoorah for Covington for the next 5-10 years.

Millington was defeated by Brighton, a team I consider to be down and not very good either. Im not saying Millington is awful, but im saying that they wont advance past the first round of the playoffs, which means they are not good enough. Winning is what the game is all about, if you dont know how to win then you truly cant consider yourself very good team. Good teams dont go 5-5. You seem to be trying to rationalize the potential Dyersburg loss to Trezvant and making it seem like Trezvant is some high and mighty team. Trezvant is a very good team, but dont act like they are head and shoulders above Dyersburg.

Just listened to the Tennessee sports network High school football show. They had Milan's coach on there and he was asked about the 2 losses that they have this year. He said that loss to Covington was just a loss to a better team. He also stated that he felt like Covington had the best team that he had coached against in 10 or 12 years. They guy hosting him also had very nice things to say about the chargers, stating that he has been back and forth from Giles Co and Covington on his pick to win the gold ball and that he finally settled on Covington. Covington is getting some love up here in Middle Tennessee.

Covington has more speed than Trezvant. There's no doubt that trezvant is good, but millington is not that good of a team. This will be a good game but I see Dyersburg coming out on top, but I could be very wrong. Should be an exciting game.

Covington isn't worried about Giles Co right now. If and when that time comes, Giles will be worried about Covigton, I assure you.

Covington has just as good a chance as every other team does. I'm hearing thier name a lot in middle Tennessee. Headed down to Giles Co this Friday to watch them and see what they bring to the table. Should be an interesting next couple of weeks in Covington. If the chargers can stay focused on ONE game at a time and not get ahead of themselves then they have a great shot at playing in for it all.

Brighton could make it past the first 2 rounds of the playoffs. Munford plays Whitehaven the first round, so their season will end quick. History is good for the fans to talk about, but from a coach and players standpoint, I couldn't care less about what teams did the previous 10 years.

Dyersburg just got unlucky this year. They have no choice but to go out and try to prove that they deserve a higher seed. It will be tough for them, but it can be done. Those Memphis will present a similar challenge to that of Covington, but I give dyersburg the edge in their first round game atleast

I agree that a year removed from a long playoff run can help. But anything past a year ago means nothing. People bring up historically good programs like that is supposed to scare someone. Who cares how good they have been in the past, what matters is how good they play this year on the field when it matters Just because you were good last year by no means guarantees that you are good this year. Giles is no doubt a good team, I'm not questioning that at all. But to say that they are the ONLY top team in Tennessee is absurd and biased. To me there are 4 or 5 teams that can truly bring home the gold ball this year, and everybody else is trying to pull the upset.

There are many teams with great playoff runs in their history, but this is 2012. You can't live off of 2011 or 2010 or any past year. What you did then means absolutely nothing this year. To me if any team can be considered the top team it should be Greenville, they are the state champions until someone beats them and knocks them out this year.

I don't see how you can call Giles Co the top team right now.

Milan should win this one. Hate to break it to Manassas but they are not as fast as Covington and its not even close. Would like to see Milan go a long way this year. I talk a lot during the Covington/Milan matchup but I respect the program that they run. They are a very good team with the tools to make a deep run

Don't know what else Covington could show. They have beaten every team in from of them convincingly, regardless of class. I can guarantee you that Covington is not going to hand Giles Co the gold ball and neither will any other team.

I think Covington knows what they have to do later in the playoffs. They have been tested this season enough. Now we will see if it pays off

Heard from a guy that covers Memphis high school football that Hillcrest is very young, not very deep, and undersized. His exact words were that Covington should not have any trouble and should be able to rest guys in the 2nd half.

I saw trezvant play Raleigh-Egypt on August 31. Third week of the season. Both of those teams were penalized heavily and both very sloppy. Raleigh-Egypt is not very good but still had every opportunity to make a game of it. Trezvant struggled to move the ball once RE stopped the big play. Dyersburg is a good team, but to beat Covington you're gonna have to be great. Covington came out in the second half of that dyersburg game and completely dominated every facet of the game. Giles may impress me, but that's what I'm going for. I'm not going to see a team that's not good.

Yea. Starters for Covington were out early in the 2nd half. Score was 35-0 at half and 49-0 early in 3rd quarter. Didn't hear the final but I'm sure it was close to that

I've seen dyersburg, Covington, Raleigh-Egypt, trezvant, Lexington, and after next week I will have seen Giles Co. To me the team with the best chance to beat Covington is dyersburg, but IMO they too will come up short. I'm not saying these teams can't beat Covington, but if Covington plays like they have this year then no team out of the west will beat them. Plain and simple. I live in murfreesboro and travel all over the state watching teams play. So don't question who I have and haven't seen play. I've probably seen Covington all I will this year unless they make it to the state championship. I'll be traveling east to watch those 4a teams
