  1. Looks like PC will be able to hit the weight room like....Right after the game
  2. Covington made a statement tonight by beating melrose 34-19. Covington could have added a late td but decided to take a knee inside the 10 with a minute or so left. Pretty good game played by the Chargers, melrose showed flashes of being good, but just couldn't stop the rushing attack that Covington attacked with. Melrose did throw the ball well, but had a few too many dropped passes and a few too many passes that were thrown in no mans land. Overall, a good game to watch. I was really expecting melrose to win the game, but they just didn't have to horses to stop that wing-t that Covington runs.
  3. Heard they are gonna be starting a freshman QB. Don't know anything about the kid, but that usually is never a good thing. I'm sure they will have another small, but quick offensive line and a couple of fast tailbacks. They should have a decent year, schedule isn't too tough. Wouldn't be surprised if they make it to the 2nd or 3rd round of the playoffs.
  4. Munford will probably run the wing-t, although there have been some games where they lined up in 3 and 4 wide and ran sort of a read option. They did this earlier in the year and had some success with it. They really want to go on long drives and kind of shorten the game. Against Hardin Co. last week they received the opening kick off and ran 8 minutes off the clock before they scored. If they get behind its over though. They don't really have much of a passing attack to speak of. Maybe a few short routes and throws to a back coming out of the backfield, but they will definitely not take any shots down field. At least none that should be completed if the defense is half competent. Henry Co. should roll this week. Get munford behind on the early downs and force them to try and throw the ball and it will be a very long night for the cougars.
  5. Hardin County is a very well coached and disciplined team. Melrose does play in a tough region, and has seen some very good teams this year. If you look at the match up from last year, it was a shoot out, with Melrose slightly edging Hardin. Hardin lost a good bit of talent from that team from last year, but has developed some talent for this year. I think Melrose will have the advantage in speed, so they will put up points. However, if Melrose can't defend the pass, then this game will likely be another shoot out. I'll give Hardin a slight edge because of home field advantage. Look for a close game though.
  6. Just got word, Game between Covington and SS will be at 7pm Friday.
  7. Not only is 54 bad but the city of Covington is still a complete mess. The road by the school is still about 85% covered in ice. I dont know what is going to happen.
  8. In the city of Covington there are more house without power than those with it. About an inch of ice already and it's still coming down hard. Trees down all over the place. Power lines as well. Don't see a way players could even get to the school to get on a bus to head to the game. No way SS and Covington play tomorrow. Will have to do some major melting.
  9. Tipton County schools have been closed for tomorrow, so I would assume the game between Covington and Jackson SouthSide will be postponed. I have not heard anyting officially, but its hard to belive there will be a game if school is not in session tomorrow.
  10. What is the girls name that wears number 15 for westview? Kind of tall and has a good looking jumper.
  11. Same ole same ole for Haywood. Can't get it done in crunch time.
  12. Saw him play against TRA the first time. Some kid from TRA dominated the game. Had like 28 and 15 in a victory. Didn't see much from anybody from USJ. Not sure who is looking at him, but I wouldn't guess its any D-1 team.
  13. Covington will be a VERY hard out. They are big and athletic. The defense they play will cause major problems for teams that havent seen anything like it.
  14. Im pretty sure if Covington wasnt intimidated the first 4 times they met that they wont be intimidated if they meet again. Both of them have to make it to the boro first.
  15. I did not say this was normal or abnormal. I simply said that the officiating was not the primary reason why Westview lost to Covington for what the 3rd time this year? Its not like Westview has multiple wins against Covington, if I recall they only have 1 win against the Chargers.
  16. It would be different if Covington had not already beaten Westview a couple of times this year, but to blame this loss on officials is idiotic.
  17. DC will still play at home, since they were the district runner up. If they would have finished 3rd or 4th, then they would have been traveling.
  18. There was no way that DC was winning by double digits. Munford is pretty good and DC is overrated. Munford winning does not surprise me at all.
  19. A bona fide change in residence does actually make a player eligible....
  20. 2012-13 TSSAA Handbook Page 14 July 18, 2012 Section 12. Eligible Transfer Students. the following transfer students are eligible: a. The student has no athletic record in the previous twelve months in any sport sponsored by TSSAA; b. There has been a bona fide change of residence by the student's parents or guardian. If such a change of residence occurs between school years, the student must transfer at the beginning of the school year to be eligible. If the change of residence occurs during the school year, the student may transfer without loss of eligibility (1) at the time his/her parents change residence; (2) at the end of the next report card period; (3) at the close of the semester or term; or (4) at the close of the school year; c. The student changes schools as a direct result of re-zoning or reassignment of students by the local school system; d. The student is moving from a boarding school where they are a boarder to the school serving the territory where his/her parents live, or vice versa, provided the student has attended the school he/she is leaving for a minimum of twelve months and provided the principal at the school he/she is leaving indicates in writing that the move is not for athletic or disciplinary reasons. The move must be at the beginning of the school year. (Note: The school must be outside the day school territory of the boarding school.); e. The student is transferring to a senior high school in the same system into the earliest grade offered at that senior high school, i.e. at the student's first opportunity to move to that school; f. The student who has been determined by a Court to be dependent and neglected and consequently changes residences and schools as a result of a Court order; g. The first time the student changes residence from one parent to the other as a result of a court ordered custody change, so long as the principal of the former school attests in writing that the move was not for athletic or disciplinary reasons; or h. The first time the student changes residence from a guardian to either or both parents as a result of a court ordered custody change, so long as the principal of the former school attests in writing that the move was not for athletic or disciplinary reasons; i. The student is attending school where the student's parent works as a full-time employee, that parent takes a full-time job at a different school, and the student transfers to the school where the parent takes the new job. The transfer must take place when the parent takes the job or, if the job change occurs during the school year, the transfer must be made at the beginning of the following school year;
  21. That being said, I can 100% guarentee that nobody played on the Covington High football team who was not zoned to go to Covington High School.
  22. Yall are now reading entirely too much into this. Brighton's zone in Tipton Co is by far the largest. Brighton gets kids from basically all over tipton co that are zoned to go there. There are a few kids that live as far as charleston and stanton that are zoned to go to brighton. As far as getting kids from other schools, anybody who would want to start a rumor could walk up and say that they think this person or that person is supposed to be going to another school. As long as you change your address into a zone that Covington, Brighton, or Munford has, then you can play. With the amount of kids in Covington, Brighton, and Munford who live with grandparents, aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters, etc... you really never know who is living with who and where they are living. The rumors are easy to start, and even if they are entirely off base, people will take them and run.
  23. I physically can not tell you if our coach was lying or not when he said that he didn't know where the players lived. Maybe he was maybe he wasn't. I didn't strap him to a lie dectector to find out.
  24. My man I talk to people who are involved in Covington athletics on a daily basis. I know a little bit more than what you may think. As far as the Memphis comment, you can tell by the name above who I am a fan of. You my man sound like a bitter tennessee fan who is upset that his team can't seem to win games. Everything I have stated on here has been backed up. I do not get on here and ramble on and on as you say. I agree that it is embarrassing to Covington High School, but lets not get carried away and act like this is the biggest news story in Tennessee High School Athletics. This goes on every where and teams get away with it more than they get caught, just so happens that Covington got caught. As far as winning the district goes, I stand by my pick that Covington will win.
