  1. Lamer, time to fill your old friend in. What teams will be in attendance this weekend? I'm starting to get excited and it's only Wednesday. Make me proud and bring home the gold this weekend! Good luck I'll be ....
  2. Mr. Newberg continues to impress me week in and week out. I can't wait to watch this young man at the next level. He seems to have it all...I'll put some money down to say this kid goes on to be a collegiate all american one day. Good luck McCoy! keep it up, you make us proud of TN wrestling!
  3. Having beat McCallie and Baylor now, does this make Ryan the number 1 seed for the duals come feb? Congrats to the Irish on their two bigs wins!
  4. Does anyone have the match by match listing? Would like to hear someone's thoughts who saw the dual regarding the 132 match between the battle of state champs, Akers and Brunner. I heard it was a battle for the ages! Can't wait to see a rematch come Feb. With the Irish pulling out the big victory in the trip to Chattanooga, what does this do for state dual seedings? Can someone fill me in with some projected seeds for the duals? Thanks Also heard a rumor that Baylor's Houston Clements is back. Can someone confirm this? How did he look coming off such a horrible injury? Also what is the status of Holloway, is he supposed to return soon?
  5. Son, if they had one, he would most likely be listed... LOL! Just saying
  6. I'll give yeah an AMEN on that on, Bear Cat! BCB , do you plan on making any trips up our way this season to visit us? I'm looking forward to JB and GM bringing home two golds this year for EFT! Best of luck this year, should be a fun one!
  7. Corn Elder hands down player of the year DII. Congrats to Gauger and Riebero as well.
  8. Amen. Mr. Pimp, you are wise beyond your years, son. Pass along your knowledge to THE PRODIGY, he could use it. LOL I still can't get over that name "THE PROIDGY" lol What do yeah think Pimp, should we start referring to 220prodigy as Dan Gable? Would that be more appropriate? All jokes aside, I only wish the best for Memphis wrestling, and I hope it continues to grow in West Tennessee. Good day to all!
  9. On a more serious note, I agree with the comment YES there are some good wrestlers in the Memphis area that are not affiliated with the CBHS program. With that being said, I do think the best Memphis area match ups will take place during CBHS's wrestle offs. LOL Best of luck to all of the Memphisians this season!
  10. Sorry to offend THE PRODIGY!!!! haha this is great! BCB, where are you? :flower:
  11. This is becoming comical how all of the non-cbhs memphis wrestlers post about themselves... come on really guys? don't they make stuff like myspace for stuff like that?
  12. WHO CARES??? WAIT WAIT WAIT.... so there's actually teams in memphis besides Christian Brothers? NASH to Chatt big boy!
  13. Can't wait to watch Austin Woods and Grayson Mullin, may be the match of the year. Both seeking their first title, both class acts, too bad they both can't win it. I wonder If one will drop or bump? Other one as candidate for match of the year: Turbo Smith vs Aaron Lopez... Talk about fireworks, two greco masters, should be awesome! Wouldn't be surprised if Father Ryan transfer, Dylan Wright made some noise at 145 as well. Wright, talent wise may not be up to par with Lopez or Smith, but is a very capable wrestler...would not put an upset past him by any means. Not usually a fan of the heavier weights. I make the mistake of stereotyping them as football players with little technique...NOT 182!!! Arguably the most exciting weight of all Shrader, Henry, and Jones, three entertaining big guys for sure! Hoping to see Shrader get his first, but Henry has proven to be a force. Should be interesting!
  14. BCB what are YOUR predictions on the year? I was hoping for a more elaborate post from you...kind of let down not going to lie Can we expect something spontaneous such as your preseason rules to the board or even a look into your crystal ball for the upcoming season???
  15. Last point I would like to make... 132 top to bottom may be the most intriguing weight class of all! When you have a state champion ranked 4th you know you have a tough weight class. I seem to think Akers will bounce back this year and regain his title I see Akers at No. 1, Westbrooks No. 2, then Johnson and Brunner evenly matched at 3. Should be fun to watch!!! Can't wait
  16. Just curious: Anyone know what the story is with Cole Holloway or Houston Clements? If you take these two studs out of Baylor's lineup they could really be hurting. Anyone know when they are expected to comeback or if they are expected to comeback at all? Also, I have not had the privilege to watch Oliver (CBHS) at 106 to compete yet. Is he as good as advertised? Someone besides CBHS affiliate care to comment? Final comment: Taking into account that Holloway, Clements, and possibly Gouger (committed for football) could all not be wrestling this year... Does this make the home town boys of FATHER RYAN the new favorite this year? How do we match up against the Brothers? GO IRISH!!!
  17. If you expect to have any credibility when correcting someone that is twenty years older than you, you have to at least spell what you are trying to say correctly. "ment" is not a word my friend. I think you were meaning the word 'meant'... come on kid, don't they teach you anything at SBA? Might as well say I agree with my friend BCB while I'm at it... sorry Mr. Pimp as Bear cat would say. Watson by 5+...Watson wins by 5 if he has a bad match. If he wrestles his best, which is very likely for a big match like this, I would agree and say 8.
  18. It's a shame no DII Nashville teams attend this tournament. I would love to see Father Ryan, MBA, or BA match up against say a Soddy Daisy or Bradley Central! Who won the tournament last year?
  19. Not to you, Freestyle. I assuming you aren't a wrestler posting about yourself...? I was obviously talking about our 195lb friend. On another note, Baker-Mosely will be one of the premier match ups of the year. I hope I am wrong, but I would have to say Baker is a favorite in this one.
  20. Guess this makes Lamer the clear cut favorite at 195 lol. Didn't our dear friend BCB post on last year's board posting rules something regarding athletes who post about themselves? lol Maybe we need BCB to remind us all of those rules again.
  21. Being the Division II fan that I am, just thought I would share some matches within the division that I am looking forward to this year! Feel free to add others that I've left off. 106- James Westbrook (McC) v. Michael Murphy (Bay) The younger of the Westbrook boys going up against ex-McCallie wrestler with a strong wrestling pedigree...Should be interesting to see if Murphy lives up to all of the hype. Also can't wait to see how these two do against the apparent CBHS stud coming in Also watch out for Mike Eckhart (FR) 113- Adam Connell (McC) v. Nick Gray (CBHS) Gray, one of the better technicians I've seen over the years. Also gotta love that bed head the kid's always got going! Connell, you know he is going to come into every big match prepared with Gordon being his father. Can't wait to see this one! Edge to Connell. 120- Cole Holloway (Bay) v Alex Elsea (McC) True clash of styles as Elsea wrestles the more defensive style and Holloway an expert on his feet. Edge Holloway, can he defend his title? Will he be a five timer? Don't look past Collin McNally as he has really improved over the off season. Could he upset one of the conventional favorites? 126- THE MATCH EVERYONE IS WAITING FOR Zach Watson (Bay) v. Tate Robinson (CBHS) Both have proved they can compete on the national scene. Something tells me these two will see each other again after high school. Tate is truly a gift to the sport, but how can you not give the edge to the veteran Watson? I think he's earned the right to be considered the favorite. Can Tate stop Watson's dream of becoming a 5xer? Dark Horse: Danny Maloney ... got to think he might cut down to 120 or go up , but nevertheless, a very highly touted wrestler with loads of potential... Can he find his way back to the finals? 132- Brandon Bruner (Bay) v Mike Akers (FR) Both experts on top, who can win on their feet and who can be the one to get off bottom? Both state champions, Akers has worked his tail off this summer as I'm sure Brunner has... Edge Akers, wins it on their feet Dark horse: Tim Westbrooks, you can make an argument that Westbrooks is possibly even the best of the 3 despite lacking a state title... Will this be his year? 138- Alex Ward (McC) v Daniel Ballet (MBA) Neither wrestle that flashy, look for a low scoring match with very few mistakes. Very tactical. Two intelligent young men. 145- Kaleb Baker (CBHS) v. Cole Mosely (FR) Mosely coming off a strong showing at super 32, can this former state champ knock off nationally ranked Baker? Look for big time fireworks in this one! Darkhorse: John Mark Bellet (MBA) improves every year, could he have a break through and be the next Simpson? 152- Mark Marchetti (FR) v. Houston Clements (Bay) Both very strong and physical wrestlers. Clements won in last meeting at VA Beach in a close match. Hope he isn't out for the year as I have been hearing...Great kid, would hate that for him. Who will wrestle in his place if he cannot compete? 160- Michael Hooker (FR) v. Matt Cate (Bay) Hooker looked dominant last year. Can he finish his final two seasons of his high school career undefeated? Can Cate win his first title his final year? Always fun to watch these guys 170- ??? 185- TJ Holmes v. no body 195 - Ricky Fisher v. my newest favorite Memphis Grappler, LAMER Lamer, is this your year?? Show us what you got! Can you knock the big man, Fisher, off his ship? Edge. Fisher Prove me wrong, Lamer 220- ??? 285 - Gouger v Youngblood Will either of these two MEN even wrestle this year? If not, edge goes to... VA TECH's own, Woody Barron (BA) Feel free to tell me if I'm an idiot... Just what I'm looking forward to this year!
  22. After such a successful regular season, what a disappointment. Talent for talent, BA may have been the best team in the league this year. Just couldn't get it done when it mattered. I was really looking forward to a possible rematch with Ensworth... guess that's what happens when you look too far ahead. Always next season!
  23. Hope to see the program back where it was a few years ago. People forget that our own Tennessee program down in Chattanooga beat THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY just a few years ago in a dual meet... A team that later finished 2nd at the NCAA's! Good luck to Coach Eslinger and Go Mocs!
  24. No you are definitely correct. People don't give Memphis wrestling the credit it deserves. Some very talented wrestlers come out of Memphis every year. Nick Marable (NCAA All-American) is definitely one that comes to mind. Also have to add Daniel Baucke who is now at the Air Force Academy. Loved watching that kid...could wrestle in all areas, truly a sight to see! Work hard, maybe you could be next! I'll be keeping up with you this year, Lamer. Good luck on your season!
  25. I've heard Baker gained some weight and will be going 195 this year...Also heard Robinson might be going 220 after really hitting the creatine hard this off season. Better be ready for those big huskers this year, Lamer! They are the real deal.
