  1. Coach Brothers- congratulations to you and your Team. Awesome win!
  2. The private school factor is definitely somewhat unique to Tennessee vs other states in which I have lived. Also, the density of high schools is somewhat less. Take Williamson County- in many other states, there would only be 3-4 high schools splitting up player/coaching talent along with maybe 1 private school. However, Williamson Co has 7-8 high schools along with about 7-8 private schools (many in Davidson Co, but close by) pulling against the player/coaching talent pool. Would like to see how well Brentwood High or Franklin High would be if there were no BA, Ensworth, MBA, CPA, et all or the other smaller high schools. I love our private school system- but I would put that team against anyone/anywhere.
  3. Look forward to a great game in Chatt! McCallie is a great place to compete. Predict McCallie to rebound and play BA tough. Speed wins- Eagles 42, McRalphie 14 with a tight halftime score.
  4. I could be wrong, but of Ensworth loses to Father Ryan, they keep the #1 in East/Middle due to winning the head-on-head with BA. MBA seems to be a lock on #3 seed, which simply means they gotta face Ensworth at home in the semis if they win out. BA must go through Memphis in the top half of bracket. Best thing BA could hope for (if MUS is as tough as advertised- and what I saw on TV) is for Briarcrest to beat MUS next week so MUS can go down with MBA and Ensworth. If MUS loses, Christian Brothers would go into the #1 spot and Briarcrest could possibly go into the #2 spot given MUS also lost to Ensworth and would have 2 losses in DII-AA. Personally hoping MUS goes to #2 West spot and gives Ensworth the fight of their life in their stadium. Someone correct me if I am wrong on the bracket.
  5. You are right on the bracket. I edited my post after double checking. MUS and Briarcrest play this week to determine west rankings, but all points to MUS as the favorite. Only way BA would see Ensworth would be in Cookeville, provided they take care of biz in McCallie and run the table in the playoffs- which is never easy in D-II AA
  6. MUS looks very strong this year. MBA always tough in the playoffs- no matter what happened in regular season. BA is always to be considered- hope we can see some of the short passes executed better, settle in the middle of the zone- I am confident they will respond and make a good run in the playoffs and hopefully play the Tigers in Cookeville. MUS in semis will be HUGE- but one game at a time. With as many times as Elder carries,, there is always chance of injury as well. Their #10 seemed like a good back, and I am sure they are developing their contingencies. Tough team! Only thing that makes me mad is that I am a Texas alum/fan, and Ensworth has made it harder for me to enjoy wearing burnt orange and black!! Gosh I love HS football!!! Especially in October-November!!
  7. Agreed. I didn't see them as better- these coaches and athletes will respond. Same Ensworth I am used to seeing for years. Eagles will be ready. I'm excited!
  8. To WC- Never said I was a man of honor- said our headmaster and head Coach were based on how they handled a tense situation. Life goes on- time to play McCallie. To JDL- never said we lost due to the factors. Just a shout out to BA fans on how we could have done a few things better the next time we play them in their stadium. Thats not crying, thats bringing accountability back on ourselves. If that came across as being a whiner- then you are entitled to your opinion. Ensworth beat us on all sides- and played a great game. Sorry if I insulted your scoreboard. You might want to get a third digit on the home side- for (based on what i saw Friday) I believe you guys might break 100 on a Metro team that grants you a non-division game just to see if you could do it. Careful, they might not be as understanding!!
  9. Love many things in life- High School football is one of them. Look fOrward to these schools meeting again!
  10. This is much more than a game- extreme situations (i.e. a nationally televised game between two outstanding programs) bring out the message of what we want our personal and associative messages to be. Just a game that ended badly?? Heck, that's just a blip on the radar.
  11. Ensworth has an outstanding program with great kids and outstanding parents. However, the actions taken Friday on the last play should at least demand a statement from the school and coach. If BA made the same choice, I would expect we should do the same. Or- at least as a tuition paying parent/customer, I would ask the headmaster and head coach to do so. BA has not been perfect over the years, and i do not think they are superior to anyone. Everything communicates. Look forward to seeing how this unfolds.
  12. That mistake was on our part as BA parents and fans for not planning better to get the excitement of the student body behind the players. I hope we can fix that for the playoffs- for Eagle parents have never been the loudest fans and our players were screaming for more support. We had a great time at the facility- what an outstanding venue that gets a lot of noise going. Similar to LSU- it really gets you down on the action. Love the brickwork and structure.
  13. One factor in this game was the ridiculous placement of our student section and cheerleaders. If we (or any other program) ever play at Ensworth again at their place, we need to get our students directly behind the visiting bench on the 50. The fact that our students were by the Ensworth bench was bad planning on our part- and ultimately caused Masters to remove our kids from the situation- after some expected minor unruliness on both sides students when they are located adjacent to each other. As parents, we should have seen this and given up our seats. Cheerleaders were not placed by the bench either. The only thing we had rallying our players at the 50 behind the bench was some weird kid in a morph suit doing some mime act amd moon walking- no offense to the kid or parent of that young man. Just thought we should have more support at the sidelines. Also, with all that money Ensworth has- what was up with that scoreboard???
  14. Ensworth looked strong- especially on the left side of the o-line. Corn was the real deal- many good moves- cuts like Barry Sanders or Eric Metcalf going through the line. Impressive. Eagles couldnt sustain a drive on 1st and 2nd down, leaving us in too many 3rd and 10 situations. Defense couldn't get off the field. BA player body language was communicating frustration the whole game- especially the key players. Was a frustrating game for fans as well- especially the drives that fell short inside the 20.
  15. BA is built on honor and character. Comes into discussion on everything we do or any competition we enter. Not perfect, by any means, but definitely the gold standard we aim for. Comes into play any time you face a BA team in anything. Ensworth has a fine team that beat us soundly. They better saddle up and be ready for a fight in the playoffs. Coach White and his staff will have Em' ready!
  16. BA did get beat by a better team at this stage of the season. However, as a parent, I did witness dishonor in victory by Ensworth and honor in defeat by BA. To the one that posted about the programs solely about getting kids exposure to D1 schools on national tvI would pull my kids from programs tomorrow if a program put getting kids ESPN exposure over a lesson of showing sportsmanship and demonstrating honor in victory and defeat. Athletics have a purpose in these two fine schools, but not the only purpose by a long shot. Carry on Masters and White, you get my vote with my tuition payment any day.
  17. Well, that's good. But, any good leader knows how to make sure the supporters will be with him. The examiner article just gave some names, but I think everyone knows the decision will ultimately be made by one person- and it should.
  18. The Examiner just published an article- breaking down the decision. Their point was who was chosen depended on who was making the decisions. Not sure if it was grounded in fact, but an interesting read.
  19. Letter came from school to alumni asking for input on decision for coach. I thought this was a good move. Obviously, the decision needs to be made by the experts ( which I am not one- just another guy with an opinion), but I find it a quality move by the leadership to reach out for us to weigh in.
  20. Wow- 8 players. Tough situation- especially since the school has a mandatory athletic participation policy. I may seem old school- but it Seems like the kids (especially the upperclassmen) would have more pride in the school than let the team dwindle down to 8- and not let the team go through that kind of hardship. There are plenty if good athletes there- not to mention the freshman class is loaded with talent. Please tell me there was a special circumstance- help me understand what's going on.
  21. Through strife and toil we will prevail- united we will be. BA Alma Mater
  22. Good post. I would not see Coach Flatt as HC either. Can you tell us some more about Coach Elliot? What are his strong points, how does he match up on BA's unique needs? I ask because you seem to have better insight on the overall picture. Also, can you expand a bit more on Dr Rochester- and how you see her leading coaches after not being a Head Coach. She seems like an intriguing candidate and inspirational person- but do not know much about her. Love the fact she is a Longhorn-Hook Em!
