  1. Brentwood will scrimmage Station Camp at Brentwood on Friday.
  2. Brentwood's QB is one of the guys I was talking about when I mentioned young guys that could be good next year. Carson Croy pretty much has the starting job locked up. He's a junior with a decent arm and decent running ability. His main drawback is his lack of size. If he can combine the experience he will gain this year with a little bit of physical growth over the next year, I could see him being a very good player next year. As for this year, I just hope our O-Line can protect him enough to get him there.
  3. This is usually about the time where I'd jump in and start talkin' some smack about how Brentwood is going to win the district; buuuttt.... I don't think I'll do that this year. I think we have some very talented young guys who will get some valuable experience this year with a chance of being a good team next year, but I think we lost far too much from last year's team to be any good this year. Ravenwood is my pick to win the district this year. With Jefferson at WR, it doesn't matter that they lost their QB; they're gonna be hard to stop.
  4. Ha, close... I did graduate from BHS though. It's no secret that I'm a homer
  5. Definitely Brentwood. Yes they lost 7 games, but check out the records of the teams they lost to: 1. CPA (10-0)-only lost by 3 2. Blackman (9-1, lost only to Oakland) 3. Centennial (5-5) 4. Oakland (10-0) 5. Franklin (8-2)- only lost by 3 6. Ravenwood (9-1, lost only to undefeated Overton) 7. Indy (7-3) Combined: (58-12) Throw out Centennial and it's (53-7). That's pretty ridiculous, and it's even more ridiculous when you realize that Brentwood was in every one of those games except the Oakland game. I attended every one of those games and I left the CPA, Centennial, Franklin, and Ravenwood games scratching my head thinking "Brentwood should have won that game". If one or two plays had gone differently in those games, Brentwood could very well be sitting at 9-1 or 8-2 heading into the playoffs. But, unfortunately that's just how it goes sometimes. Oh well, better luck next year Bruins!
  6. I honestly think Brentwood's got a shot in this one. All bias aside, I left the BHS/CHS and the BHS/FHS games thinking that Brentwood definitely should have won both games. I know the "should haves", "would haves", and "could haves" don't count as far as records go, but I still think you can make an argument that neither Centennial nor Franklin showed that they were much better than Brentwood, and Ravenwood only beat those two teams by a combined 4 points. I think this game will be much more evenly matched than the teams' records indicate. I'll take Brentwood 31-28
  7. The "Battle of The Woods" is this Friday at Ravenwood. Ravenwood took sole possession of first place in the district with an OT win over Franklin last week. Brentwood needs to win its last two games to have a shot at the playoffs. Should be a great game with a huge crowd as always. Comments? Predictions?
  8. I'll take Centennial in this one. After seeing what Beech did to Indy, I don't think Indy has any hope of stopping Sanders.
  9. I agree, and I think it is largely because of Twitter. I don't have a Twitter account, but from what I hear, the students get on there to do quite a bit of smack talk.
  10. Things are really about to heat up in the playoff race... I think we can all agree that the top two slots in this disctrict are going to go to any mixture of: Ravenwood, Franklin, Brentwood, and Centennial. It's fitting that those 4 teams play each other this weekend: Brentwood/Franklin, Centennial/Ravenwood. Those should both be really exciting games. I wish one of them was Thursday night so that I could attend both. Right now, I'm predicting that Centennial and Brentwood will take the top 2 district spots. Any other predictions out there?
  11. I'd love to predict a Brentwood victory, but I just don't think it's in the cards. I'll say it's possible if Oakland turns the ball over 2 or 3 times, but not likely. I'm hoping Brentwood can keep it close and improve a little more before this upcoming stretch of district games.
  12. This post made me want to look for some stats, and here is what I found: Critchlow: 637 passing yards with 6 TD's (This the only info provided by this week's Tennessean article. I'm hoping that, as a Franklin fan, you can fill in the blanks for INT, Rushing yards, and Rushing TD's for me) Maher: 711 passing (8TD/3INT) and 367 rushing yards (2 TD/0 fumbles). (source: brentwoodhomepage.com) I realize Brentwood has played 1 more game than Franklin, but Critchlow's average of 159 passing yards per game is not much higher than Maher's 142 ypg, and I'm willing to bet (but honestly I don't know for sure) that Maher's rushing ypg is much higher than Critchlow's. After looking at the stats, it's clear that both guys are good QB's, but I'm inclined at this point to agree with CasualBystander's statement that Maher has more play-making ability than Critchlow. I've been to every Brentwood game this year, and Maher does a great job of getting out of the pocket under heavy pressure while keeping his eyes downfield and finding an open receiver. I haven't actually seen Critchlow play, so for all I know, he could be better at that than Maher, but I doubt it. It'll be fun to watch them both play next week to get a better comparison, I'm looking forward to it.
