  1. For sure, they were in a great position to knock off Summertown this past Friday night...
  2. It looks like Houston County and East Robertson are atop D9 and Richland is on top of D10, everyone else in Richlands district is below .500.... it seems like the Region 6 winner and runner-up may have a very good chance of both moving forward by looking at the records. It looks like the realignment of regions in this particular case have made the actual region tournament tougher to win that the sub-state... jmo
  3. I agree, I think all good teams will put in post season plays that you haven't seen on film all year. Not sure exactly how a team should game plan for Summertown, they are 18-1 at the moment, with 7 different leading scorers, 4 of those starters and 3 off the bench. Like forementioned, they play 11-12 deep with everyone scoring, they are deep and experienced. Those 11-12 are made up of 7 seniors, 1 junior, I sophomore, 3 freshman (2 of those freshman played at the state tournament last year as eight graders). All of those players have played in state tournaments in either basketball, volleyball, softball, golf or cross country. If they make it back, the stage will not bother these girls.
  4. Breaking News!!!! Summertown lost to Gleason! Zebra you seem fixated on the fact that Summertown lost to Gleason, but yet give them no credit for the 16 game win streak since then. Yes, it was the second game of the season and they lost by 4, not sure how much stock to put into games that early but you seem to think it's a very strong barometer of a team. Summertown does have a chance to make a run, as well as several other teams. Marchups, injuries, game location among other things will be determining factors. So let's just see how the games play out and not let that loss determine how well Summertown can do.
  5. I agree, it was a good game as well as the girls game was. I thought PC really struggled in the 4th with the press and that's when Summertown gained momentum and knocking down those 3's kinda blew it open. You never know what to expect in these district games, they sure are fun to watch.
  6. 16-1.... Beat #4 Cheatham County (AA) and #11 Moore County
  7. Postponed due to Lawrence County schools closing until Monday, no school, no practice, no games.
  8. Hawkins was no doubt a very slow version of last year..she could still score if she caught the ball in the post but she can't get to the rim like she could last year, hate to see any injury to young kid. But, nonetheless, it was a good W for Summertown.
  9. I noticed that also... maybe needs to back off the steroids or something...lol
  10. Congrats on the signing. Brooks is a joy to watch, from what I know, Brooks and Roberts will have to lead the way, the supporting cast will have to be very productive when teams are keying on those 2 players. But like I have seen before, Brooks can carry a team single handedly. Should be fun to watch.
  11. My opinion only::: Loretto is the team to beat in the district, only lost Childress if I am correct, but he was a very well rounded player for them. They are senior loaded and very experienced. Collinwood will be tough with their big 3, but depth could be one thing that could get them in trouble with the deeper teams. Very good guards with a true post. Summertown only lost 1 senior as well but also picked up a senior transfer guard, it always helps to have another perimeter threat. Trotter will lead the way for the junior loaded team. Summertown doesn't have size on the inside, but counteracts that with speed and length. Wayne I hear is hit with the injury bug right now, but things can change in January when the wins/losses really count. They still have good guards and a young big man, can be very dangerous with everyone healthy. Going undefeated righ now means nothing. Perry County should be led by a veteran point guard and their very tall post. They will be very dependant on their supporting cast, sorry I don't know much more than that. Frank Hughes I am afraid wil struggle to make much noise in the district this year, new coach, lost some seniors and lost a would be senior this year due to transferring. like I said, this post was my opinion only, we will see exactly how things stack up in a few weeks when they start going head to head. It's all about the matchups and whose style of play controls the games. Looking forward to a great season as usual.
  12. I guess that's one strategy, just hope you don't play another team that rebounds well.
  13. Summertown's toughest games usually are AAA and AA schools. Summertown went to Gibson County and beat them in a scrimmage. They have beaten AAA Franklin County and AA Cheatham County in the last week and a half. They also play Moore County in a Christmas tourney (last years sub-state game). They play in the Times Daily Christmas tournament in Florence, Alabama which should generate some tough matchups, just haven't seen a schedule yet. Those games and some usual tough district games will be their toughest games until regions start if everything goes their way.
  14. I would say this years Summertown is better than last year, lost 1 senior, everyone else should have gotten better with experience.
  15. Gleason won 56-52 (about the same score as Huntington/Gleason score last night), but I am pretty sure you already knew the score. Summertown played poorly as well, 12 players I think, 5 in 5 out, pretty common for them very early in the season, the rotation has already been reduced like it usually does, it will probably be 8-9 man rotation. It would be like me asking what the score was when Huntington played Dresden last year in the region championship, Summertown beat Dresden last year. Can't go by last year or by a HOF game the first week of the season. If everything works out we will find out head to head this year.
  16. Summertown starts 5 seniors, with 2 more seniors and 2 freshmen (that both played at the state tournament last year as 8th graders) in the rotation. They have multiple perimeter threats and posts that can score. They will be one of many teams at the end of the year that should be a tough out. I believe every player in the rotation has been to multiple state tournaments, those include basketball, softball, volleyball, golf, cross country. So the state tournament environment is nothing that will affect them.. should be some good basketball this year.
  17. If you don't know alot about the other district, you shouldn't make the comment that it should easily be won by Summertown. I do believe they have a great chance, but I also don't underestimate any of those other teams.
  18. Summertown didn't have the two 8th graders for the first matchup (I know, 8th graders?) but by adding those two, Summertown got better penetrating on offense, which opened up the 3 point and got much more aggressive on defense. Also, for the Christmas matchup, you had zero specific game planning for teams, which makes a difference. With all of that being said, I know MC not having Hawkins was a hugh factor, especially losing her with basically days to prepare to play without her. First game MC +13, second game Summertown +11. I would expect a very good game this year.
  19. Summertown went to Gibson County tonight for a scrimmage. That's 2 hours and 20 minutes away..#getbeatgetbetter #theywon
  20. If LCHS wins those games, they were supposed to... AAA vs A.... if LCHS loses, it looks really bad....Guess they don't want to risk losing to smaller rival schools...
  21. I would love to hear the answer as well. Those games are always highly competitive and provides a great high school game atmosphere. I love seeing the student sections going back and forth...
  22. Didn't they just get at by Berean Christian? No doubt they are one of the favorites.
  23. What is everyone's pick for first round of A state tournament? South Greene vs Watertown Loretto vs Halls Berean Christian vs Sale Creek Union City vs Summertown my picks are: SG, Loretto, BC, Summertown
