  1. MJ scrimmaged both Riverdale and Oakland..... I would give the nod to Riverdale. Oakland is good.....but pitching was not great... at least in this scrimmage. I don;t know if they threw their best. Riverdale threw Sutton, he has shed a few pounds and looked pretty good.
  2. I must have met him at some point, cannot put my finger on it.
  3. Commanderman who is Doyle?
  4. who was that guy we both know again from MJ little league?>
  5. I can't say on the message board
  6. Doyle send me an email at davidsmithmj@hotmail.com
  7. Smith is ranked 6th in state for RHP ......Gei 4th for C by Perfect Game.
  8. Brentwood is good, going farther out, Farragut, Houston, Barlett, Arlingtion
  9. thanks for the clarification, and I agree MJ wins district with no problem, I hope anyway, you never know.
  10. I can see your point, it makes sense to think that , I can see that as a possibility, then why if Mel is the only one making the hires did he not hire him? That's why I think Mel was not the only decision maker. I also understand that there were serveral other top candidates that did not get the job. Also no one really knew when MP was going to go either could have this year could have been in ten years who knows. I'm sure the hire had some other factors other than baseball. Doyle where you been?
  11. As far as I know RB was never promised anything.... he lives in MJ, his sons go to school in MJ, he was hired at the middle school, IF he was promised something when Purvis left, then why was he not hired at the HS? "get his two sone sot play there" hey they are good players, but MJ would be fine with or without them. MJ has kids trying out from other counties and states , then if they make the team the parents move. They are not lecking any talent to the point of making deals that for sure. And when RB came over, who knew how long it would be before MP left? You really think Mel was the only one that had a say in this?
  12. I think Brown would have been fine for the job, but anyway Carter is a good one. I see Brown going back to coaching once his sones are through HS
  13. I'm not sure what you guys are talking about, cutting players, fundraisers etc..... Being VERY close to the program, I can tell you that Coach Purvis built a very elite program. That takes parents, booster club, school administration and players. we have a very good JV program and while we do carry 44 players, all get a chance to contribute. You don't win as much as MJ has in the past 15 years by accident. I read in one post that the new coach does not have exp. with an AAA team. From what I have seen he will do fine.
  14. I like your post,it makes sense, except for the MJ part. Yes I support MJ but honestly they have too much talent this year for the rest of the district. Our first 4 pitchers..... three sr's from 6'3 to 6'5 with tons of exp. and a jr ranked 5th in the state. Two of these pitchers, pitched in the state tourney last year. two top catchers, one ranked 3rd among catchers and the infield is returning with a first team all district SS. Not to mention the outfiled with 2 sr's and a jr. It does not really matter that they have a new coach, its the program... I wish Portland well, I really feel you should not be in this district , these schools are much bigger as far as enrollment goes. I and was going on previous years, I have not seen this years team. Beech has a few pitchers, maybe WC beats some teams , like it or not MJ has the talent again this year.....
  15. My prediction: MJ too many returning sr's and pitching Beech/Wilson Central Gallatin/Station Camp H'ville Lebanon Portland
  16. MJ vs Creelwood not pretty
  17. Player in question could have gone to many schools in the area, he picked FC. MJ has a new baseball player from Louisville, and last year one from Atlanta, and the year before that Alabama, They moved tried out for the team and made the team. Now I do know of some schools in the Nashville area that recruit. 2 of my children were recruited and it was no big secret. You act like there's some conspiracy
  18. Why do people think FC recruites? I have been around the program for 10 years, and I have not seen any recruiting. A parent wanting the best educational and athletic fit for their son or daughter is not recruiting. Also, and this is not meant to be mean, but if there was so much of the this recrutiting going on, would they not have a lot of really good new players every year. Most of the players I know that attend FC have been their since grade school. That's not recruting.
  19. WC is young, pitching not there yet....But a few of the teams are really down, H'ville, Gallatin, Lebanon, Station Camp, Portland. MJ and Beech is my guess.
  20. What are Seigels injuries ?
  21. MJ has solid outfield and infield, pitching is not as deep as in years past. first 3-4 are solid, but will need a couple of pitchers to step up this season. Don't know about the long ball either, most likely be small ball defense and pitching.
  22. It's almost time to start scrimmaging..... a few weeks, what's the hotstove report for 9AAA ?
  23. Congrats to FCS, I saw a prepared team, executed well in all aspects. Long not as impressive as some of the other qtr backs in the area, however he did not do anything to hurt you. Soph RB for friendship , has good tools, Watts was solid, as was Mitchell, Remus and Martin.
  24. Int he last 5 years at any point did was a school bus ever tampered with? BlackHavenSenator, I'm going to the game save me a seat
