  1. Looks like they are slowly populating on the Trackwrestling Dashboard. Thanks to who ever got this done!
  2. Would be nice if the tables were linked to Track so everyone back home could watch. Are they not wired for it?
  3. I do not understand why some tournaments don't open these til the registration deadline. I won't drive 30 minutes (much less 4-4.5 hrs) unless I know my son will get plenty of competitive matches. I'm sure there are many who run from the competition but I would like to think there are more who run to it. I'm not just singling out AAU Spring Youth Nationals but it happens to be the current tournament that has chosen to do this while many Georgia wrestlers are on the fence about going. Hope the powers that be reconsider or we'll have to look forward to Iowa and Ohio; both of which post wrestler lists. What is the benefit of closing out the wrestler matrix/list?
  4. Agree 100%. They should be used at all tourneys in my opinion.
  5. Did you read what I posted? I said to make sure that they DO NOT conflict with national tourneys. We travel everywhere and seeding isn't important to us (at all). I'd rather my son go unseeded as we wouldn't get a 1st round bye. Secondly, I said to make it a 2 tournament Top 100 requirement, not all of them.
  6. I'm guessing that's a blanket comment made to others cuz I can assure you that we understand winning and losing. That's why we travel. Try drawing the Tulsa Champ in the first round (when you feel confident that your son is the first, second or third best wrestler in the bracket)and then tell me if you feel that there's no "inept bracketing process". We did that at Liberty Nationals and then fought back to win 3rd b/c they didn't have a true 2nd match. You know what my son was saying after the tournament? "Why can't I wrestle the 2nd place kid?" At Dixie, we drew his teammate (who is arguably the best kid at his age/weight in the SE), lost by 1 point and then we were rewarded by drawing a National Champ (and multi-time State Champ) first round in losers bracket; which we also lost by 1 point. That was a growing experience right there as it was only the second DNP he's experienced in his young/short career. I mention these b/c I understand getting the sh*t end of the stick. I also have seen us get a favorable draw where we might not have placed 2nd had we wrestled the 3rd place kid and guess what??? I still would want to wrestle for true 2nd even if I knew that there was a chance that we'd go from 2nd to 3rd. You need to do one or the other (in my opinon): either seed to the best of your ability and still offer a true 2nd OR don't seed and have an open tourney and offer a true 2nd. *Note - I realize that it's my kid who wrestles. I refer to us winning and losing as "us" because we're a team and I'm his #1 fan; not cuz I want to receive credit, etc.
  7. In order to address this issue, you place a minimum 2 Top 100 appearance requirement and average their placements. If you have multiple kids that got the maximum points, you move to the next criteria; which is head to head. You can also use Region placement and add it to the criteria.
  8. You're correct to an extent but your kid cares, and that's what this is all about. I hear people all of the time saying that they don't like wrestling for true 2nd because, as they put it, "who cares if they get 2nd or 3rd". I asked my boy that very question and he, along with most every other kid I asked, would want a shot at 2nd. Kids shouldn't be penalized or rewarded due to an inept bracketing process.
  9. I had it as 3rd and 4th criteria so head to head and Top 100 points would come first. Again, my points above were a quick suggestion that I thought about for a grand total of 2 minutes before typing. It can be improved. Personally, as an "outsider" to Tennessee (although my family is from Nashville and Westmoreland), I like your Top 100 tourneys and love the belt award (wish TGA would so something like this and make it more meaningful than our Tour of Georgia tournaments that were eliminated due to poor participation. I would focus more on making these tournaments as attractive as possible. As long as they do not conflict with national tourneys, a minimum participation requirement would not be a bad idea. Using Trackwrestling as a seeding criteria isn't horrible, but it rewards the wrestlers who run/avoid competition and penalizes those that wrestle up in age/weight and also those that travel to wrestle the best competition.
  10. Do yourselves a favor and DO NOT mimic anything that is done by TGA in Georgia. You're right in that they are trying their best to make it difficult to both participate in national-level tournaments AND TGA events. Think about that for a second. Why would you want to hinder the kids who want to get better and travel to Tulsa, Cedar Falls, Kansas City, Reno, VAC, multiple cities in Pa, etc??? Instead of placing limitations, how about making local tournaments more attractive? My suggestion as a parent who is fed up with TGA is to make sure your Top 100 tourneys do not conflict with any top national tourneys and then do your seeding based off a combination of the following: 1. Head to head competition 2. Top 100 points 3. Returning State Champs/Placers (same age group) 4. Returning State Champs/Placers (different age group) If someone wants to improve their seeding bad enough, they'll attend the Top 100 tourneys to increase their point totals. Because they're doing this, you'll likely get several head to head battles that you wouldn't have gotten before; thus making the seeding easier. As long as the Top 100 tourneys are not scheduled on the same day as national tourneys, you can set a minimum number required to attend if they want to be seeded (2 would probably be sufficient). Your final criteria could be Trackwrestling, if needed (probably won't be needed though). Just like in Ga, you'll likely have the "travel kids" who don't give 2 s**ts about where they're seeded. You'll also have the same group that likes to run and avoids all competition cuz they want the best seed (again, you can eliminate this with the 2 Top 100 tourney min).
  11. OMG...do you mean that kids cut weight in wrestling??? I'm appalled!!!!
  12. If you will post the entrants and age/weight classes, I'll try to get several Ga kids to come up there.
  13. I've seen Mr. Moon when his kid loses and I've seen him when his kid wins(his son has beaten mine twice). He and his son could not have been more respectful on either occasion. We've got the same kind of haters down here in Georgia that hate to see success. Misery loves company, huh? Why don't you and Bradley08 "man up" and let us know who you are??? That's the funniest part about it. You're casting stones and sitting back behind your keyboard. I'm guessing that your kid either has lost to Moon's son or you're affiliated with a team that has lost to him. I can't imagine that being a coward is any way to go through life. Step up!
  14. One of the more asinine comments that I've read in quite some time. Congrats...you win!!! There are more tournaments in the Atlanta area b/c +90% of registered USA wrestlers are in the Atlanta area. We don't look at people in terms of where they come from nor are people judged based on this fact. I respect communities like Cleveland(TN) with HCWC and Pride and Baylor/East Ridge, etc around Chattanooga, just as much as Calhoun, Jefferson, Gilmer, Lafayette, Camden County areas in Georgia because THEY GET IT. Hard work makes champions regardless of your postal address. You have a chip on your shoulder and put WAY more thought into someone's hometown than I ever have or will.
  15. You're putting your business on a public message board where people express their opinions; and I expressed mine. A lot of people in this sport run from competition. There's always gonna be someone bigger and badder out there. Goto Tulsa and/or Cedar Falls and find it out for yourself(we did). I can only guess that you getting this pissed off at my remark means that it hit a sore spot. As for a "condescending personality", I treat everyone equal...period! Lastly, who are these "enemies" that you speak of??? I'm curious to know what cowards are nice to my face and talk smack behind my back. I do nothing but try to help guide others through the experiences and mistakes that I made so that they do not have to take the long way to get there. What I learned real quick is that in this wrestling community, there is a small group of jealous individuals that think that everything should be handed to them and do not see the commitment that the more successful kids have toward this sport. I see that you also talk smack on Josh Moon; who's another individual that commits himself to better the sport and his son's success is a testament to that. Do you like picking out all dads who have sons with some amount of success just to make you feel better about your life? So who exactly is heresyourstupidsign? Just curious as I don't hide behind screen names.
  16. Don't know why that appears twice...

  18. I was trying to see which Ga State Champ that he pinned at Dixie Nationals. Saw that he wrestled Cameo who's really tough...

  20. What age/weight is your son? Sounds like a really good wrestler.

  21. Yes...that is who I was referring to. What age/weight is your son?
  22. What's the age/weight of your son? I can probably tell you why they didn't wrestle in Ga. Interesting topic though.
