  1. Now that brackets are out, does anyone have predictions for places other than champions? Or perhaps guesses at toughest brackets? I think 112 top three could be drawn up several different ways. Most certainly a toss up weight class. Any others?
  2. BA has one of their best teams in a while. I think Cash has a shot at taking 112. But unfortunately for Brooks, he is in Dean Smith's weight class, and I do not think Smith has lost a match this year. I just don't see Brooks getting past the semi's the way his bracket is drawn.

    Spain

He loses either way. He lost to Brandon Wright, who is wrestling extraordinairily well this season, at 152 and would lose to Kelley Felix (who I believe has not lost a match in TSSAA wrestling since losing to Kyle James in the state finals his freshman year) at 145. It looks as if Spain may not win this year, despite early predictions of his success.
  4. Yes, but Morales knocked out Carney with 1 punch last year. Glass jaw or something. Carney has never wrestled, either.
  5. MBA won 38-13. Don't remember exact scores. Match started at 130. Bellet MBA dec Ryan's normal 135 Negri (normal 140) of Ryan dec Herron MBA Ryan (new kid) dec MBA 140 (McKeltheren?) Ben Bellet MBA dec Miller Ryan Waddey MBA maj dec Goodrum Ryan Snyder MBA maj dec Hagerty Ryan Bateman Ryan dec Tate MBA Jacques MBA dec Riley Ryan Swett MBA dec Dempsey Ryan Riley MBA dec Lawrence Ryan Francis MBA pin Ryan 103 (Freshman) MBA wins by forfeit at 112 Simpson MBA dec Ryan 119 Marchetti Ryan maj dec Todd MBA The final score is 38-13. Irish just weren't able to pull this one out like some of you were saying. The experienced team did win. Congrats to MBA and a hard fought match to Ryan. Great matchup and fans were engaged. A classic.
  6. The MBA team is very, very experienced. Just look at their performance at the Black Horse and Ryan Inv. Also see the McCallie Inv (only in relation to FRHS). MBA looks very strong to take the region this year. Yet the Irish are loaded with their sophomores and a few upper classman (and a good freshman at 125.) And underclassmen have the quickest learning curve. This means their year of varsity experience has had them learning the tricks of the trade very quickly. Yet I don't think it will be quite enough for the Irish to overcome the MBA dual steamroller. A guess at matchups... 103 - Francis (MBA) pin Rosa® 112 - Griffith ® decision Sutter (MBA) ® -toss up match 119 - Simpson (MBA) pin Sloan ® 125 - Marchetti® decision Bellet(MBA) - beat at Ryan Inv. 130 - Todd (MBA) decision Weakley ® - Beat at Ryan Invit. - toss up match 135 - Herron(MBA) pin Benito® - beat at Ryan Invit. 140 - McKeithen (MBA) dec Negri ® - toss up match 145 - Bellet(MBA) pin Miller® 152 - Hall (MBA) major dec Goodrum® - beat at Ryan Invit. 160 - Snyder (MBA) decision Hagerty ® - toss up match 171- Bateman ® major dec. Tate (MBA) 189 - Jacques (MBA) dec Riley ® -toss up match 215 - Dempsey ® dec Swett (MBA) 275 - Riley(MBA) dec Garrett® - split matches at Ryan Inv-toss up match As I have it MBA wins 43-13 (give or take 3 from each). If Ryan were to win at every key match up, maybe things could go their way. I just don't see it happening. It would require a few upsets and some big pins. Regardless, this match involves two great programs from a very heated rivalry. Attendance usually hovers around 2000+. Anyone who was there for the MBA win by 1 point last year(decided in the last match), or any year for that matter, knows the passion that is displayed not only on the mat but in the stands as well. Get out to see this one if you can. It's sure to be a crowd pleaser, with a multitude of good wrestlers in both lineups.
  7. 90, I am well aware that any DII team can recruit through financial assistance. The reason I brought it up about McCallie was because someone said that McCallie would be lacking in a few years. Baylor has some obvious recruits. I'm sure Jed Hussein decided out of nowhere to decide to go to Baylor. But what you fail to recognize is that while MBA, Ryan, Baylor, McCallie, CBHS and any other private school that awards financial aid may "recruit", it is a whole nother ballgame when you are a boarding school. That was simply my point.
  8. Let us not forget the Tornado's ability to recruit. A certain Tullahoma wrestler by name of Cleveland comes to mind, as do others. They will be able to get enough wrestles to make the match interesting every year.
  9. Making sense with fluent thought process and punctuation aren't your forte either. Manson, Bundy, Felix get my top three votes (though not necessarily in that order). Each is by far the best in their weight class. All three have done/are capable of doing well on the national level. Next year look for Brandon Wright (Houston High School) to be one of the best in the state overall. He looks very strong to win 152 in DI this year. Perhaps he will wrestle Felix next year. But as for top wrestlers in the state, top two must go to Bundy and Manson, with Felix at a near third.
  10. 41-24 clarksville. bateman did not wrestle
  11. Who was injured besides Bauke? CBHS seemed to have everyone they had at the Black Horse except for Bauke. They also added Darius Williams to the lineup after his recovery from food poisoning. I hear their regular 215 was benched for some reason, possibly due to the Clarksville match immediatly beforehand. Yet he lost to Bartholomew in the Black Horse anyways. Just curious as to where the injuries and missing wrestlers from CBHS would have changed the score that much.
  12. MBA is very talented this year. They did, however, finish behind both McCallie and Baylor at the McCallie Invitational. MBA only had three medalists (Francis, Simpson, and Hall), while Baylor had 7 medalists (Johnson, Bell, Manson, Hussein, Waddell, Walker, and Still) and McCallie had 6 medalists (Young, Young, Goss, Robinson, Huffaker, and Green). Despite the finish, MBA is quite loaded all the way through and should be a serious contender for the DII title with a little more work. I'm sure Frank has something in mind.
  13. I would love to see a Fuller-Manson rematch at the finals at 135. But this looks to be a very tough tournament. Simply placing will be quite the accomplishment, as always. 152, just looking at the teams from TN, seems to be one of the tougher weight classes this year. I'm sure it will become even more competetive with our niehgbors from Georgia thrown in the mix. Which others are looking very tough to win (and place in)? 171 looks very competetive. Any predictions for any of the weight classes?
  14. Match was 48-6 if i remember correctly. White House pinned some new kid from MBA at 215. Several double forfeits. MBA looks strong this season. White House had two good wrestlers at 140 and 152 who put up tough matches for their opponents.
