  1. I can certainly see where you could be coming from; however it has been a long......long time since Mont. has had a really good season. Sometimes when you haven't "been there" it's OK to act like you haven't been there. Heck they didn't even had a home (or even a school) for a while. Live it up boys you disserve to be proud.
  2. CONGRATZ.......to all those Monterey boys. Live it up guys and gl next week.
  3. Yea I do not disagree with either of you, and I agree "first time ever" means a LOT. I was just trying to show why another coach "could" be in concideration. Heck I do not even like the Huntland coach (do not know him personally - but have my reasons), I do not hate him as I do not know him. I do think Huntland has done one heck of a job this year. Again I do not disagree that Coach Shoulders should win it; however I do see where others could be in concideration. I also beleive that if the Huntland coach wasn't concidered it would not be just. (not actuall win it but at least looked at for the award).
  4. Yea my son graduated last year. He is now on the 2-deep at D2 KWC, and is the only Community player to ever singn with an NCAA team and the only one to play on saturday.....so far (I hope there will be more to come). My son really likes Coach Frost and he still keeps in contact with him. I cannot speak for Coach Frost, but I can tell you what I do know. The coach did not feel he got the support he needed and wanted over the years (from what I have heard - not directly from Coach Frost). There was never enough paid and knowledgeable coaches, there was never enough money put into the program, and their was never enough emphasis or support given to the program. Over the years the teams lost many games and almost every year the subject would be on firing the coach or not. From the start the people not directly involved wanted wins and did not understand wins would take time. Starting a new program in a very small, rural and not wealthy place is very hard. The past 3 years Community had won several games and was competitive in many others and it looked like they may turn the corner; however once the seniors left (this past year) they would be left with a QB with no real experience, and holes all over the place. Coach Frost knows the MC coach and had been getting pressure for years to leave. I think he left while he could so to speak. If he stayed and Community lost (which it looked like they would) he may have been forced out and a job for him may have not been open. Like him as a coach or not that is really not for me to say; however Coach Frost is a really good person, and I can assure you he has passion and puts his heart into his teams.
  5. The RBS coach should certainly be in the discussion and despite what you think the Huntland coach does as well. I agree the O-coordinator has made a difference, but the Huntland D is much better than they have been, as well as their special teams. To say NO ONE but the RBS coach deserves this is just not true. I agree he prob does deserve this, but so do a few other coaches. Lets look at the numbers. RBS is 6-3, their losses came from a 6-3 team, a 4-5 team, and a 4-5 team their wins came from teams that were: 0-10, 1-8, 4-5, 0-9, 3-6, and 2-7 loosing teams combined record 10-45 overall records: 24-58 Huntland is 8-1, their loss came against a 9-0 team their wins came from teams that are: 3-6, 5-4, 3-6, 2-7, 6-3, 4-6, 2-7, and 0-9 loosing teams combined record 25-48 overall records 34-48 RBS hasn't beaten a team with just an even record and Huntland has beaten 2 teams with a winning record. RBS has beaten 2 teams with 3 or more wins, Huntland has beaten 5 teams with 3 or more wins. Records do not always tell the story, but numbers never lie. It is amazing that RBS will be in the playoffs; however if you get there by beating the bottom of the barrel and other "like" teams did a better job they should at least be in the same conversation (as far as awards go). Not trying to disprespect RBS (or their fans) only trying to show why another coach could possibally win.
  6. The Huntland coach should be at the top of the list; if he is not at least in the final few.....this is a sham. Huntland has not had a winning season since 06 (I think), and has had some really bad seasons along the way. Now I agree that is not the best resume, but this is a year by year award. If you win 3 games last year and 1 game the year before, then you take your team to 9-1 or 8-2 that is pretty darn good (beating teams you have not beaten in many years along the way).
  7. By the numbers Eagleville should win this game by a lot. Eagleville does not typically score a lot, but they have a good D; however when playing the two worst teams they did averege 52 points. Eagleville has blanked two teams, gave up 3 to MC and gave up 12 to another team. Seeing they have won 5 games they do not give up many points at all in the games they win. Eagleville did lose to the top three teams in the district; however they held each of those teams to their lowest or second lowest point totals of the year......so Eagleville certainly has a good D. Community gives up over 40 points per game and scores about 15. Eagleville should certainly score a lot in this game and I think they will hold Community to 7 at the most until later in the game. GOOD LUCK Community, I wish you the best.......and I hope you prove me wrong.
  8. I am not sure last year was really much of an upset.....at least to me it wasn't. Community had played one of the toughest schedules in 2A. They had also played with most of those schools through half time and a couple (Cascade & MTCS) through 3 qtrs. Now this year MC doesn't look good aganst good treams; however they look really good aganst bad teams. MC gives up a lot aganst good teams, but hardly anything aganst the bad teams. Going with those the numbers MC should destroy Community; however other than the Forrest game Community has been able to score "some" over the past several games. I think MC wins, because right now Community doesn't have any D. I do believe Community can score so this could get interesting as neither team is very good (sry MC and sry Community). Last year Pride went off aganst MC if he could again then look out.
  9. I do not believe that Forrest's season rides on the game this week. I do however believe this game is very critical. If they win (which there is a decent chance they will) it would certainly help come playoff time' however if they do not win, it would not be the end of the world so to speak. Next week however will certainly determine how things go for Forrest (although they will win that game). Now to Community: Years ago Community started a football program and never put the money needed into that program. No one want's to hear it but football takes money. If Community wants to become competitive year in and year out they must be willing to spend money. My commninty loves football, but Community from administration down to coaches do not understand football. I am not trying to knock anyone or comdim anyone, just trying to make people aware. For years I have seen coaches watching a football game instead of coaching a football game. All position coaches should always watch their players and on every change of position coach those players on what they have seen. Administration should learn how to help the kids and how to help the coaching staff and learn about football. For years I saw my son (and other kids) practice in a cow pasture, push around the worst sled ever (rusted with virtually no padding) and almost always get left out on the cold so to speak (things promised and never delivered, over and over). Again I am not blaming anyone as I think many people did not know and others did not understand, and no one wants to spend the money. Heck last year my son along with all the seniors did not even get to have a banquet. No time to be recognized or honored for their years of hard work.....and that is just one thing, of many. Last fall my son was teaching coaches and players D-lineman technique, and that will never work (as he did not know nearely enough). Again not condiming anyone as it was great the coaches were even listening and learning. But everyone inviolved with this program needs to learn more and needs to do more and much of that will come from more money. Simply hireing a new coach will never solve the problems Community is facing. These kids desirve more and they are not getting it; therefore sometimes kids do not give. In football you need to sell out....I mean give everything in the weight room, give everything in practitice, forgo many of the things other kids do, and the program around the kids must also do the same.....sell out for the kids, and Community does not do that. Community is not a new program anymore; however this program must spend the money needed and must build (for years) the right way. That may be hiring more coaches, or providing better facilities, and better training. If the "program" improves" the kids will improve and more kids will become involved. I am not trying to hinder growth or trying to rip on anyone. I want Community to succeed, but I think the kids desirve better than they have been given over the past many years. Community must go back to the drawing board so to speak; they must create a plan of action for building the program......and that is not simply hireing a coach and hoping for the best.
  10. Forrest has lost 2 games to Tennessee teams - a 5-1 Huntland team and a 4-2 Page team by a combined 11 points. This team will most likely finnish with a 6-4 record........maybe not special, but pretty good non the less, concidering the situation. Last year I said something pretty harsh (prpbably too harsh) aimed at someone in the Forrest coaching staff. I was a bit upset and probably should have calmed down beofre I typed; however we (all of us on here) should not try to verbally trash the kids on any team. I will always stand up for Community and support my community; however I will never spport this type of BULL!
  11. I am a Community "Homer" but Forrest hasn't been held to 17 points by any Tennessee team they have played. Community has also not held any team to under 30 points. Community gives up an averege of about 48 points per game. This game will not be about Community's O at all (although Pride is a good player). This game will be about Community's D (which is not good) and the Forrest run game (which is good). I love Community, but any way you want to slice it Forrest should score a lot.......just based on the numbers. (49 - 13 Forrest) I hope I am wrong, as I would love to see Community get the win; however I try to post what I really believe based on what I have seen.
  12. Huntland should win this one by a lot. Huntland does tend to give up some points; however Moore County doesn't seem to be able to score much aganst good teams. The huntland boys play hard, and they are on a roll; however I wouldn't call them a reaally good team yet (that is ready to go far into the playoffs). Again I like these Huntland kids, they are scrappy; although I would like to see Moore County get it turned around, but I don't think it happens this week.
  13. I agree........Rockets probably by as much as they want.....via the run game. The Forrest run game is really good and right now Community's D is not good; therefore I say do what you do best and get the win. If Forrest wants to develop in their passing game during practice this week, then impliment some of that on Friday, that could work; however never ever treat a game like practice. Most teams do not do this (and I am sure Forrest will not); but we have all seen it from time to time and sometimes those teams get burned over looking an opponant. I also agree that a balenced O is great; however sometimes just knowing what you do best and doing it gets the job done.
  14. I thought maybe 12timechamp would come on here and eat some crow? Oh well I guess even "squatty" kids can earn a D2 athletic scholarship Thanks for the congratz Warboss.
  15. Kentucky Wesleyean This was one of the first schools to contact AJ about a year and a half ago; however AJ didn't seem as interested as he was in a few other schools. They kept in contact with him and finally a couple of weeks ago AJ decided to take a visit (just to make sure before he committed to a school). The visit to KWC changed everything for him. AJ said he felt at home on the campus, and loved everything from the town, the students, the staff, the coaches and their plan. The KWC football program has been under staffed and under funded for a while; however they are now becoming fully staffed and fully funded. AJ knows he will have to work hard, but he also knows he has an oportunity there as long as he does work hard. AJ hopes to one day become a high school coach and maybe even a small colege position/strength coach.
  16. Cngratz to all of the coaches and boys selected to coach and play in this game. I want to give a special congrtz to all of the 1A / 2A boys (please add in a name if I forgot to mention someone) Nick McLilly Bensn Napier Andy Eddins Devin Smith Colton Rogers Phillip Lincoln Colter Swaffrd AJ Harris Congratz guys you all earned this and I hope you are all proud to represent Tennessee.
  17. Champ the problem I think most of the people have is this is a thread for kids who have committed to a college, A thread where we spread the excitement, not where we squash on someone’s name. I stated a fact which was on target about the thread, and then you come in and got this totally off topic. My son AJ Harris will commit to the exact school where he wants to go in February; it is a small Christian school, he has felt right at home on every visit and he loves the coaches. Also Champ, AJ came into his senior season with 18 games of high school experience. He had surgery on his hand in the spring and did not get to participate in any of the spring. Three months after the surgery AJ was starting his senior season at DT (switching from NT). On week 5 AJ tears some cartilage in his knee, and through 3 quarters had 10 official tackles, 4 TFL and a sack (gaining player of the week). AJ finished the season with nearly 80 tackles & 14 TFL (with a rehabbing hand and a knee issue). AJ could certainly improve on his fundamentals; however he has never had a real position coach (AJ loves all of his coaches and all have tried to help him and all of the boys as much as they can) and he still finds ways to be productive. AJ is not the best player in the world, but several college coaches think he could help them and he is grateful.
  18. I am AJ's father, so I really only put my opinions or generic stuff on here unless AJ wanted me to for some reason. Also AJ doesn't need your stamp of approval he only needs one coach to believe in him. Fortunately for him he as a few. As of now 3 NAIA verbal’s, one NAIA written & 1 D2 written. He also has many D3 opportunities if he chooses that route. AJ knows that he is not even close to many of those top 3, 4, and 5 star athletes, but he has worked hard to have the opportunity to play college football, and it looks like he will get that chance. Also most NAIA schools will not give scholarship offers this early for a kid they hope can make it on a JV squad; those kids are picked up later, or sometimes after tryouts. For some reason people on here love to hate on me and/or my son, and that isn't cool; even when you preface "no disrespect" because that is exactly what you are trying to do. Even so I will keep reading and looking over this site, and my son will keep working his butt off.
  19. I should have said "he will be on a college team next year." Nothing is certain in college football, even when coaches tell you certain things. AJ could redshirt or something next year, but if everything goes right he will have the chance to play ball next year.
  20. My son AJ has not comitted to anyone; however he currently has two offers (D2 & NAIA), and he thinks another is coming this weekend on a visit. He will be playing ball (D2, NAIA maybe even D3) next fall and is excited about the likelyhood of competing at the next level.
  21. Congratz Coach Bowling on Coach of the year. You guys had a great season, and you certainly earned this honor.
  22. Eagleville dominated the game from start to finish. Loretto did get a nice kick return for a touch down and scored an offensive touchdown late in the 4th. Final score Eagleville 31 Loretto 15. Again want to say I loved the Loretto live cast, and those play by play guys were great. Defiantly "country boys" but heck so am I, so I loved it.
  23. Eagleville looking real good on offense. Still early in the 2nd Eagleville 17 Loretto 7. I do love Loretto's live Youtube audio stream.
  24. There are a lot of kids who may have deserved a shot, but there is only room for three in each category. While stats are important they are not be the only deciding factor in awards. All of these kids have worked hard, and deserve to be MR Football finalists. We should let them have their moment and be a part of congratulating them on their moment.
