  1. Well well well, I should have seen this one coming a mile away. Rankin loses some and his ego is needing some serious strokin once again by pulling the ole "Rankin was seen interviewing routine." Guess you can't teach an old dog new tricks. Actually he must be needing to score a nice lil Christmas bonus that he does not share with his assistants. We folk in Rutherford County saw this played out time and time again. They even had the nerve to call ME once and ask for $500.00 to keep him at Riverdale! The joke is that my roots are with OAKLAND and there is probably no one in the state that gets my goat worse than rankin. After he lost to OR in the semis that last yr, no one was willing to "give" to the fund. When the recriting rug was getting ready to be pulled out from under him, he bailed. He said he wanted to go to a school that would be a challenge for him. Yet, he chooses a team like Alcoa? Yeah right. Let's see him win at Red Boiling Springs and I will salute the guy. I could go on and on but I feel my blood pressure starting to rise...... Let's face it, just about anyone would love to coach at Alcoa and they could win in an open zone environment just like he did.
  2. I have a soft spot for the program at Eagleville. What a loving community. It is hard to compete for athletes with a school with such tradition like Riverdale so close. Yet, they have done it. To see two schools in one county undefeated and still in the playoffs is unbelievable. I am not sure that has ever happened. I admire the heck out of Coach Pip over there. He is a good man and role model for his team. I have known him a long time. You know I will support my Oakland folk no matter where they land even if he did go to Smyrna at one time. hahahahah. Coach Carson proved his worth when he was at Smyrna and helped score the gold there.....twice. So it is no surprise that these two guys combined and brought E'ville to a first undefeated season. Kudos to them all. Such a tragedy that they haven't gotten the press that they deserve for this. I have seen them ranked in the top ten each week, so at least the rest of the press have realized their worth even if the DNJ hasn't. I am a big fan of Coach Moose at Gordonsville as well. Coach Moose is another Oakland former coach who brought so many players to a high level. I would watch him take a freshman and develop him into a player, starter, and contender. The man worked harder and put in more hrs than any coach I have ever seen. I would be happy no matter which team wins this week because both are good representatives of the sport. Good Luck to the Eagles and to the Tigers. What an accomplishment to get where they are !
  3. What a heart-breaking loss for Coach Wyant. I hated to hear about it. It is hard to shake something like that off, but I am confident that they will. Wyant has done an admirable job at Siegel this yr. I think the players and parents respect him and the kids play hard for him. Kudos to all.
  4. How often do you get two teams playing that have head coaches who have won a ring? Congrats to Coach Crawford and Coach Perry. I will be honest with you. I didn't think Brentwood was too hot this year, but looks like the kids have been 'coached-up" quite a bit and are turning on the jets. Will it be enough to take down MJ? Not sure but I think Crawford will have a good gameplan on tap to try to stop that wingt of Perry's. But will Bwood be able to generate enough offense to keep MJ's O off the field?
  5. Thanks, man. Congrats to your Dawgs for pulling off the 2nd half of their season. They will be very dangerous to meet in the playoffs. Good luck to your boys.
  6. Could anyone tell me what time the TSSAA show starts airing with the brackets? Also who was the OHS teacher that passed away?
  7. Dang it. Congrats to the warriors and Coach A on a good win and an undefeated season. That is quite an accomplishment. Oakland, don't hang your heads. Get ready for next week and and kick butt in the playoffs. We need to get the turnovers under control and the penalties. When you are young, those are sometimes tough to overcome. There is a bright future at OHS. As for Riverdale, way to represent the district as #1. I listened to the game online and found myself rooting for Woodruff on his long 77 yd run. That kid is a player and seems to turn it up a notch in the 2nd half all the time. Davenport is a stud as well. Good luck in the playoffs. It sounds like there was a vocal crowd and I hope that continues for every team in the playoffs from Rutherford County.
  8. Stay sharp, Oakland! The wet field can be a big equalizer. Keep your eyes open and on the ball. Don't be a hero and try to pick up a loose ball and run with it. Just fall on it. I know you can do this. Play with authority and heart. Listen to your coaches. I am certain they have a good gameplan and will make the proper adjustments when needed. Go OAKLAND!
  9. Tough loss for Siegel, but great win for the Dawgs. Folk best watch out for the Bulldogs in the playoffs. Hope we don't meet them anytime soon.
  10. This game is for pride for both teams, I guarantee you that. No one wants to lose to the other. I very seriously doubt that Coach A said this one was a laugher. Sounds to me that truth and justice is trying to stir the pot as usual and trying to find a way to pump up the OHS players by trashing Coach A. Let me tell you...if playing the BIGGEST rival in school history can't fire you up, then you just need to stay on the sidelines. These coaches may not like each other very much, but you can bet they RESPECT each others ability to motivate and concoct an effective gameplan by zeroing in on the other team's weaknesses. I think Oakland's young team will play like veterans in this one. They will be fired up and hungry. I expect some trickery and for to shock the warriors by coming out strong and scoring first in this one. I don't think RHS will look ahead to the playoffs either and allow us pull an easy upset. We will have to work for every yd we get. I am sure both coaches have worked hard on their gameplans this weekend. This one is going to come down to who forces the most turnovers. Good luck to my Oakland boys. I hope the crowd is huge and vocal. Both teams deserve the support and pride. How's everyone's health on both teams?
  11. TDC, we have had our disagreements over the years, but I admit that you know your football. You would do a good job. This was a game that was worth the price of admission to see. Hahhahahahahaah, thank goodness for online though. Blackman's Strickland played the game of his life. What a competitor. He carried the game on his back but came up short. The old saying is when someone goes down , someone has to step up and Strickland did. This is exactly why it distresses me so much when the press gets ahold of one player ( the train) and comletely focuses on that one kid instead of the surrounding cast. I had remembered that #1 had some nice hands, but that kid has turned into a go-to guy. What a huge talent. He and Strickland sure exploited Riverdale. Riverdale kicked themselves in the foot over and over but still overcame it to take the win in a very hostile environment. Kudos to Coach A and his staff and boys. Davenport is a total stud. I would hate to have to bring him down. Woodruff.....man oh man.....that kid is amazing.
  12. I said it before on an earlier post. Don't ever look past Smyrna. When they are down, they step up to the plate and throw a knock-out punch. I am glad that I didn't drive all the way down to TN to see this game. It had to be a hard one to stomach. It sounds like Oakland was never in it, but I am convinced that this will wake the Patriots up and bring their fighting spirit back in full force. Sometimes you need a total beat-down to come back to reality. Congrats to Smyrna. I know Thebulldog81 was excited about this outcome. I know you were proud of your boys. Good luck to Smyrna. You showed what it is all about to play with pride. Many have trashed Coach Williams over the years ( and I have done my share) but I think he just showed he is a good motivator and a good coach last night. Oakland WILL come back and WILL make this a learning experience. We are not OUT! Lick your wounds today and step up tomorrow with a purpose and a new attitude to take it out on this next week of practice. Play every moment like it is your last. I will say that it sounds like our coaching staff needs to put a hammer down on the remarks OHS players are making on this Tweeter thing. I have gotten many emails from CoachT pals shwoing me this garbage our boys are posting. Of course who knows if it is really an account from our kids or not though but sure looks real to me. Confidence is one thing but this arrogance is out of control and it has got to stop. You cannot give the opposition bulletin board material from your key players like we are doing. Get it under control, Mac and you should see a difference. I know that I am old school, but I am more embarrassed by the running of these mouths than I am about losing by so much last night.
  13. Good post, Milo. No one needs to look ahead period. The stakes are too high right now for both teams. It isn't a time to get cocky or comfortable. Me, I hope that we win and that Riverdale does too, making the Battle of the Boro the biggest game of the season! Nothing like it. Period.
  14. Dablueraider......for some reason I could have sworn that you were a See-gull fan. Have you posted on See-gull threads a lot in the past?
  15. I caution Oakland not to overlook this game because of Smyrna's current record. The Dawgs have some athletes, speed, and kids with some good hands. They are the kings in pulling out a last minute kick in the teeth. I imagine this game will be a physical one . Smyrna will want to avenge the BHS last second loss and they will be ready to fight for a playoff spot. Oakland is correcting some issues and it is paying off big time. We are flying under the radar right now and let's just take care of business and get another W in the column. Go Patriots.
  16. This should be a classic to say the least. Good luck to Coach Mitchell who is calling the D at BHS and formerly at good ole OHS. I will be honest I am tired of hearing about the I train. Yes, he is great, a beast, a stud, tops in the game.....blah blah blah but it takes more than one kid's talent to have the record BHS has. Let's hear a little more about the surrounding cast on here. I would bet some of them would appreciate a little touting of their names. I am rootin for Riverdale. The Woodruff kid is very special. The kid is a playmaker and a game-changer. He is good under pressure and with the outcome of the game in his hands. RHS has a nice O-line and of course DAVENPORT along with several others who will be counted on Friday noight to share the load! The RHS D has gotten better and better each week and seem to be building their confidence. As for comparing schedules, I just saw where Signal Mt got caught playing an ineligible player and have to vacate 6 wins. So I guess BHS takes a nosedive now in the comparison of schedule argument. hahahahhaahahha That Coach Price is and always will be one of the craziest coaches I have ever had to watch. How he won a state champ is beyond me. Oh wait, guess I know....he plays kids that are ineligible.
  17. Dang, just went back and re-read and saw that Riverdale06 is posting again. Hey there little lady! Long time, no talk. Hope you are well these days. It is great to see you still supporting your alma mater. Good luck to your boys.
  18. This is going to be strictly BHS O VS OHS D. OHS needs to put a few pops on Mathers to slow him down and keep him from wanting to run so hard. The kid is impressive as heck. I put my money on Coach White to have an impressive game plan. I pray Mac puts the ball into the air some to keep The D on their heels instead of in the box all night. Let's just say their is no love lost between the coaching staffs. I would like to hear Shad's lil pre-game speech. Will he do the same boxing gloves routine as last yr? I hope Mac has learned to go low profile in the press and on youtube. This game is going to get very physical. I like the Pats in double OT.
  19. First of all, congrats to both teams for being 4-0 at this point. That is quite an impressive feat. Second, I know Wyant still "smarts" about not being head coach at RHS and it is well-known that he is not a fan of Coach A. He would have to have extra motivation to win this one at Tomahawk. Bet there won't be any smart-butt shirts about him , hahahahaha. Third, I think you have to give the edge to Riverdale simply because their QB is such a playmaker in clutch situations. Fourth, the days of the 300 strong See-gull nation are over. After so much humiliation from yrs past, posters are non-existent on the T. But you better believe there are still fans that run their mouth from there. I think this game comes down to the wire and I predict RHS wins by a TD. Go Warriors.
  20. Greatwin for the Patriots. Any time you can overcome some adversity in the game and come out with a W, you should be proud. How many penalties did we get in the game? That was an area that concerned me last yr. Seems like we shot ourselves in the foot every time it was crunchtime. I hope that has been addressed this year. Congrats to the players and coaches on being 1-0.
  21. Man oh man, it made me smile to see Bacillum posting on here. Where have you been? I hope you are doing well. Your take is very thorough on the Warriors but I am wondering why you were there instead of at Oakland last night? Congrats on the win, warriors. I live close to Louisville so guess where I plan to be on Friday night? I am anxious to see my boy Woodruff in action once again. He is an exciting player to watch and I am sure Coach A will have his boys ready. With all the points scored by both teams last night, should be quite a show. Saint X will have tons of fans, so you warriors need to load up the wagons.
  22. If Wyant can keep the inner grumblings in line, he will have a good season this yr. Seems he has them moving in the right direction.
  23. I had planned to attend this one to root on Marty's Wildcats. He brought them to new heights last yr. I hope the new staff can continue to build on it.
  24. Reminder. Key word. SCRIMMAGE. Scrimmages are for trying folk in new spots and teaching them how to correct their mistakes. The score is irrevalent. No one ever got a gold ball by winning a scrimmage. Kudos for scrimmaging them. I am sure we learned many things. Patriots don't tuck their tails and quit. This team won't . Their staff will look at the film and make the right adjustments. Wait and see. Patriots will bounce back with a vengeance and a swagger.
