  1. Cannon is definitely a stud, but I don't know that I would say he has looked better than Palmer. They were in the same bracket at Black Horse this season. Palmer took 1st while Cannon took 4th. He was majored by 2 out of state wrestlers that Palmer beat. That don't mean he can't pull of the upset though. I just wouldn't say he has been better so far this year with Palmer having the results to back it up. I definitely think he is capable of reaching the podium though. It's just a matter of where he slides in behind those top 3. I guess we will find out next weekend. Best of luck to Science Hill and all of Region 8!
  2. I don't really post anything on here anymore, but finally decided to give my opinion on this. I agree with what Bump11 said right here. I understand your free to have your own opinion PennStateWrestlingFan and I know you apologized but it probably would be best not to post on CoachT in the future about rumors you hear about other teams unless you know exactly what happened. Coach Roberts wants to win just as bad as any other coach in the state and does a lot for his wrestlers. No coach is going to purposely make their lineup weaker just for the fun of it. Basically I'm saying unless your hear a story directly from the parties involved it would be best not to post it on a message board.
  3. The only way it puts extra pressure on them is if they are on here reading these posts, and think they have to live up to what random people write. As for placing targets, I don't think anyone is doing that either. If they have a target, it is because they earned it on the mat. It is their state and national titles that are creating a target, not people posting about them. Their names wouldn't have even came up if not for what they accomplished on the mat.
  4. I don't see why it's wishful thinking from Salter. It would be a surprise if any of them didn't start next year. Moultry and Salter shouldn't have a problem starting on a team that is a little weaker. Beech has a couple medalists around Rippy's weight, but there are some weak spots he will probably fill. As for qualifying, it isn't that hard to make it out of your region. I'm not saying it is easy, but wrestlers of their caliber should be able to do it. It's not like Salter said they would all medal next year. I wouldn't even count Rippy out of doing that though. His older brother has already placed as a Freshman and Sophomore, and he is supposed to be better.
  5. I was wondering the same thing. I've heard from multiple people that want to go Ryan, but Ryan will only give them a partial scholarship. I'm assuming Walling is in the same boat.
  6. Salter's list looks pretty accurate. I would replace Job Dooley with the 100 pound state champion Cody Matthews. He will be a really tough 106 for Cleveland next year that should have a chance at placing. Also, we can't forget about Nathan Walling. He placed 4th at Philo, and would have won state if not for AAU's age limits. I would put him in the top 10 somewhere.
  7. Here are the final Top 100 results. Congrats to all of these wrestlers. https://excel.office.live.com/x/ExcelView.aspx?FBsrc=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fdownload%2Ffile_preview.php%3Fid%3D255181521321600%26time%3D1395272542%26metadata&access_token=100000777523671%3AAVI6mtWBA2zF0fO5P1NIzRlPNSsuAoXc57Fs3-RK5YxAoA&title=TOP+100.xlsx
  8. He wrestles for Beech's feeder team now, but moved up from Cleveland. I'm guessing he will at Beech, since that's where he is now.
  9. With all of the talk about Middle School division, their were a few Juniors that stood out at the duals yesterday. The Junior 70 state champ, Christian Morris, pinned the Middle school state champ, Christian Isbell. However, Isbell was winning pretty easily and Morris caught him. Still very impressive. The Junior 70 state champ, Cooper Flynn, went undefeated. He pinned Isbell, teched Morris, and beat Garrett Bowers (the Middle School 75 state champ) 7-3. Noah Horst, Junior 80 state champ and Junior OW, beat Bryce Pond (Middle School 80 state champ) 7-3. He also went undefeated at the duals as well, and stuck Elijah Oliver's younger brother in the state finals to win his 8th state title in a row. There was no one close to him all weekend. I could see him being a 4 timer in high school. Lawrence Madson, the Junior 85 state champ, had a decent day in the middle school division. He teched Colby McCall (Middle School 85 6th place), lost 4-0 to Luke Dezember (Middle School 85 runner up), and was pinned in 49 seconds by Brayden Palmer (Middle School 85 state champ). He lost 2 matches, but showed he can compete with some of the top middle school kids.
  10. Kyle Smith, the 160 state champ, is another middle Tennessee boy.
  11. If you look at the team scores, it appears Cleveland and Christian Brothers are going to be the teams to beat in their divisions in the future. I don't see Cleveland losing the team state championship for a while with what they have coming in each year. However, I could see middle Tennessee having the most individual state champions in the future. Middle Tennessee had 6 champions, the Chattanooga area had 5 champions, the Knoxville area had 2 champions, East Tennessee had 1 champion, and the Memphis area had 4 champions. The middle Tennessee studs are spread out a little more on different teams, so they I don't see any of them winning a team championship.
  12. It wasn't announced, but I think Rippy won the belt. It looks like Rippy and Isbell tied with max points, which means it goes to the highest placement at state. They both took 1st. Next, it goes to the most pins and then techs if there is still a tie. Isbell had 2 pins, a bye (which counts as a pin), and a tech. Rippy had 3 pins and a tech. So, they are still tied. The next criteria is fastest cumulative pin time at state. Isbell's average pin time is 2:42. Rippy's average pin time is 44 seconds. Rippy wins unless there is something I'm not seeing. Salter probably knows the correct answer if he wants to clarify for us.
  13. Congrats to all these wrestlers. They put in a lot of work to get to the top of the podium today. Congrats to Mason Reiniche for being named the Middle School Outstanding Wrestler, and Trevor Rippy for winning the Middle School Top 100 Belt.
  14. That's good to hear about River Henry. He hasn't competed in any TNAAU tournaments, so it's hard to know how he will stack up against the other top 250s. I would not be surprised if he wins state after seeing he won the Dixie Nationals this year.
  15. 70 - Christian Isbell - Team Clarksville 75 - Cade Holloway - Higher Calling Wrestling Club 80 - Bryce Pond - Higher Calling Wrestling Club 85 - Brayden Palmer - Buccaneers Wrestling 90 - Caleb Chopane - East Ridge Wrestling Club 95 - Job Dooley - Cooperhead Youth Wrestling 100 - Alexei Pergande - Nashville Catholic Wrestling 105 - Austin Sweeney - Higher Calling Wrestling Club 110 - Mason Reiniche - Red Raiders 115 - Austin Atchley - Red Raiders 120 - Bryce Wittman - Wave Wrestling Club 125 - Trevor Rippy - Buccaneers Wrestling 130 - Christian Salter - Siegel Wrestling Club 140 - Nyzaya Vincent - Higher Calling Wrestling Club 150 - Hunter Woods - Halls Wrestling 160 - Kyle Smith - Blue Devil Wrestling 180 - Grant Brace - Mt Juliet Bear Wrestling 250 - Grayson Walthall - Wave Wrestling Club As I said, my predictions would change once I see what weight everyone went for their region. According to Sutherland, Mason Reiniche will be able to wrestle, but I am not sure about their other wrestlers. At 115, I will take Landon Fowler of Eagleville Wrestling Club if Austin Atchley does not wrestle. I think Higher Calling Wrestling Club will win the team championship. Also, I have a question for anyone who may know. Looking at the region champions' track profiles, I noticed a potential issue. River Henry of McCallie Wrestling Club won the Region 3 250 weight class. The issue I am seeing is that it shows him wrestling for the high school this season. Has this been looked into yet?
  16. I'm not saying he won't make some noise, but those numbers are false. He was at 130 for the Region 4/5 Top 100 and took 5th. Trevor Rippy stuck everyone in less than 30 seconds, including the kid that beat Knaff 10-3 that day.
  17. I didn't even realize it when I posted mine. I was just trying to base mine off of past results from the season. The problem is we haven't seen a lot of Chattanooga. I'm sure mine will change once we see what happens this week, and see what weight kids drop to for regions.
  18. That sucks to here. The kid is a tough wrestler.
  19. Walthall has came a long way from last year. However, I think most of the reason for his success is that he is physically gifted. He looks like an in shape young man wrestling middle schoolers that are not in shape. He has a build similar to Rex Shotts, but is still in middle school. If he keeps keeps at it, I think he might be able to surpass Boykin and Evans, but they would out wrestle him if they wrestled today.
  20. I agree with a lot of them. Here's mine: 70 - Tyler Cherry - Spring Hill 75 - Christian Isbell - Clarksville 80 - Bryce Pond - Higher Calling - He beat Horst in the fall, but I agree that Horst would win. 85 - Brayden Palmer - Beech - He's supposed to be dropping. Pinned and won 7-1 against Dezember this year. 90 - Micheal Moultry - Nashville Catholic 95 - Job Dooley - Copperheads - Beat Whiteside in the fall. 100 - Alexi Pergande - Nashville Catholic 105 - Simon Pergande - Nashville Catholic - Supposed to be dropping. 110 - Joey Vogelpohl - Nashville Catholic - Supposed to be dropping. 115 - Mason Reiniche - Baylor - I'm guessing he wrestles here, since he was 110 at Dixie. 120- Bryce Wittman - Wave Club 125 - Trevor Rippy - Beech - Supposed to be dropping. 130 - Christian Salter - Siegel - Supposed to be dropping. 140 - Tommy Bracket - Wave Club 150 - Hunter Woods - Halls - If he's healthy. 160 - Kyle Smith - Lebanon 180 - Grant Brace - Mt Juliet HWT - Grayson Walthall - Wave Club - Pinned and teched Roberts this year.
  21. That is good to hear. In my opinion, he is the best pound for pound middle school wrestler in the state.
  22. I don't know how you could call it cheating. He will have to work his way through the bracket just like everyone else. I think he ends up taking first.
