If there were only three kids, why didn't Landers weigh-in and forfeit the matches? Is there a rule against doing that?
  2. Has Whiteside put on that much weight? I thought he was wrestling 94 for the middle school team.
  3. I'm not sure how bad it was, but something was wrong with his knee. He couldn't walk off the mat on his own power. I don't know the diagnosis, but I doubt he wrestles tonight.

  5. I wasn't trying to bash them. I was just pointing out that these kids were already studs for other teams. As I said, I see the benefits they have to offer, and I understand why kids leave to wrestle for them. Now, to your main point, I completely agree with you. It has to start at the youth level. I've been wondering for years why Team Tennessee does one tournament, and then it's over. Minion and these other teams do tournaments together year round. I think the main problem comes down to money. I gets really expensive, and a lot of parents cannot afford it. From what I understand, Nashville Catholic pays for almost everything from their entry fee to the kids hotel rooms. This is probably part of the reason why wrestlers are going there. Otherwise, most parents can't afford to travel like that every weekend. If it was more affordable, I think you would see the numbers go way up. The problem is though most of the other teams do not have the money to do this as Nashville Catholic does. If we could find a way to make it affordable to parents, I think we could do what Georgia does.
  6. Steal was probably the wrong word to use. Obviously they are not stealing kids. I was simply trying to point out that their best kids didn't come from within. I can't blame anyone for wrestling with them. I think the kids I mentioned have all got better because of the top notch coaching and competition they see each week.
  7. I know they have been taking the good kids for years. I didn't realize their other kids were in a jv bracket. I just wanted to point out that a lot of the kids are not their kids. I am also not saying some of the kids didn't wrestle in other tournaments with this year. The fact is they steal the best wrestlers from other teams. Looking at the kids in the varsity bracket, I see two that have wrestled for them, and they developed. Moultry is a Siegel wrestler, and still wrestles for them. The Pergandes came from Mt. Juliet. Rippy is from Beech. Salter is from Siegel. Bracket is from the Wave Club. Walling and Brace are from Mt. Juliet. The only two true Nashville Catholic kids are Anderson and Vogelpohl. The high school may not recruit, because they do it at a younger age. I know first hand as they are trying to get our best wrestler to come over there and go to high school at Father Ryan. They have great coaches but I wouldn't call it developing their own kids. They take top level wrestlers from other teams, and make them better. Before anyone says anything, I am not saying ALL of their good kids are that way. Eli King, Chalifoux, The Simpsons, and list goes on and on of studs they developed themselves. They already have some really good kids as it is, but then they have to steal other teams studs. I get the feeling this is the reason teams don't want to wrestle them.
  8. Yes, Nashville Catholic is wrestling at Philo. However, if you look at their lineup, most of the good kids are not theirs. They have Christian Salter, Trevor Rippy, Tommy Brackett, Michael Moultry, Grant Brace, and so on. Their lineup looks closer to Team Tennessee to me. At least half of the kids are from other teams.
  9. I heard Beech won it, but that's as much as I know.
  10. Rippy, Walling, and Reiniche are still in middle school.
  11. Brackett finished 6th. Reiniche finished 8th. Salter finished 7th/8th, but they don't have the results for that match. No one else placed.
  12. I can't remember the exact order they scored in but Kramer had a takedown, 3 back points, and a reversal. Shotts had 2 reversals. Kramer out wrestled him the whole match. Both of Shotts' reversals came off of Kramer getting in bad positions going for more back points.
  13. Kramer beat Shotts 7-4 at the Beech tournament today.
  14. Noah Horst - 80 - Beech Michael Moulry - 90 - Siegel Brayden Palmer - 90 - Beech Jared Harter - 95 - Vikings Wrestling Club Dillon Lemons - 95 - Independent Cody Mathews - 95 - Higher Calling Wrestling Club Judson McCray - 95 - Vikings Wrestling Club Kyle Burns - 100 - Bearden Dillon Pendley - 100 - Vikings Wrestling Club Mason Reiniche - 112 - Baylor Christian Salter - 128 - Siegel Thomas Brackett - 136 - Wave Wrestling Club Seth Eachus - 136 - Bradley Pride Wrestling Club Riley Westlake - 145 - Coffee County Middle School Reiniche and Brackett are the only two I am picking to place, but you never know until they wrestle.
  15. Evans and Kramer are in the same weight class for the Super 32. I doubt they wrestle each other there though.
  16. Yes. He took 2nd at folkstyle state, 2nd in freestyle, and 3rd in greco.
  17. Moultry is another great wrestler. He's kind of up and down. If he wrestles like the kid I watched in Iowa, I think he can beat anyone in the state including Chopane. If he wrestles like he did at state, then it's a whole different story. The state champ from 85 can't be forgot either. Job Dooley. Chopane and Dooley were in the same bracket the year before last. Chopane didn't have a close match. Then you have Brayden Palmer, Cody Mathews, Dillon Lemons, Landon Adzima, and probably a few other good ones who are back from the 85 pound weight class. That could be one of the toughest classes, unless they all spread out. Anyone of them are capable of winning state in my opinion.
  18. Good point. It is kind of hard to tell how much everyone will improve.
  19. Isbell, Brenot, and Speed should all have really good years. I think Williams is going to struggle against kids that hit puberty.
  20. They're both tough wrestlers. I had Horst on there. He's only a 6th grader, but has won state every year I can remember. Palmer was one of only two or three 6th graders to make the middle school team tennessee. He did the best out of those 6th graders if I remember correctly.
  21. Walling is the age of a freshman, but is only going to be in the 8th grade. He might not be able to do AAU because of his age. I do agree last years class was a lot deeper. This years class is pretty young though.
  22. Here are some of the best returners in my opinion. Mason Reiniche Tommy Brackett Trevor Rippy Nathan Walling Jonah Bird Christian Salter Caleb Chopane Noah Horst Simon Pergande Alex Pergande
  23. I don't think Jonah Bird or Trevor Rippy will be in high school either.
  24. I'm surprised he dropped the weight. It will be interesting to see what he can do next year. I still wouldn't pick him to beat Kramer, but you never know if he's training with someone of that caliber.
