  1. So hopefully i have interpreted this incorrectly..... Can a metro school, while still doing virtual learning, adhere to the guidelines set forth, play a real game on September 11?
  2. No fall sports per Metro Nashville Health Department. Kids likely won't be in school until late October at the earliest so no Fall Sports this year for Metro Nashville. Metro Nashville has failed yet again.
  3. Seems odd seeing other counties and the privates play ball this week. I guess this is how the Big10 feel as the SEC, ACC and Big12 teams get ready for the season. Hope this doesn't cause a kid to miss an opportunity for a college scholarship as the metro kids will not be as prepared as the teams they will be competing against. I hope the Nashville mayor doesn't continue to kill the dreams of these young student athletes, band members, cheerleaders and their families.
  4. I am a retired coach so i have no clue who abides and who doesn't abide by the rules. I haven't seen any high school teams hitting this season but i assumed hitting would be soon given teams play their first game on Friday. It is a shame that other counties are at a competitive advantage over the metro squads but i am not surprised.
  5. Metro practiced yesterday. I think they get to have contact practices sometime this week as well....
  6. They will play HS football in Alabama. The Virginia thing shouldn't surprise anyone who has been paying attention..... The kids should have the opportunity to play football. If parents and/or athletes are worried, don't play!
  7. Volleyball players attack the net at the same time and get very close to each other. This happens all the time in Volleyball. Sweat and spit will be transmitted when this happens. Perhaps you have a daughter who plays this sport so you are going to give them a pass. All kids in all sports should be allowed to compete if they sign a release waiver.
  8. Hate this decision by Gov Lee. These kids should have the opportunity to play High School football and soccer this season. Sign a darn waiver to remove liability if need be but give the kids the choice/chance to participate.
  9. Congratulations to Coach Darnell. Hope the administration will give him the support he needs.
  10. Good list. Everyone on this list is deserving. Curious to know why you chose these four individuals?
  11. Public schools play the privates to prepare them for the postseason as the privates typically are strong programs who are well coached and have excellent facilities. A loss to a private school doesn't negatively affect a public school with playoff seeding. Money to the public school from the private school offsets costs to run a program. I can also see the other side where a coach wouldn't want to compete against kids that live down the street from his school and have grown up with the kids in his program.
  12. Why can't i have the opinion that the Cane Ridge staff is better than Brunetti's on a message board? CR plays a much tougher schedule each year with them being in 6A but you PC guys don't want to acknowledge that.... Look at the playoffs... CR plays the Williamson County/Rutherford County schools while PC plays the Fairviews and Giles County's of the world (solid programs but not WillCo/RuthCo level). MLK High School has an enrollment of 965 per the TSSAA so that works out nice for 3A PC in terms of a co-op program. What school does CR co-op with? This is not meant to be a bash PC post. They will win a bunch of games every year and several of their kids will get college offers which is a great thing for Metro... Once PC wins the big one in 3A, i might change my thoughts.
  13. What kind of a team is Cane Ridge expect to put out on the field this season? IMO they are the premier metro team in terms of size, coaching staff longevity and results over many seasons.
  14. Is anyone hearing a possible date for Metro to allow kids back for conditioning? I assumed we would get a date the week of June 8-12th for a modified return to conditioning. You can still expect June 29th - July 5th to still be the dead period (no contact). Doesn't leave much time to prep for the season or have 7 on 7 camps/tournaments.
  15. Which metro teams will make the playoffs ? PC, East, Cane Ridge and Hillsboro are typically in each year. Any surprise teams on the rise.....
  16. Gallatin was loaded back in the late 80s early 90s. I recall my High School team going to Gallatin for preseason scrimmage in the Fall of 1990. It was one of the hardest hitting games I have ever played including college ball.
  17. Stratford getting this far in the playoffs was a tremendous accomplishment. Way different set of circumstances back in the early 90's with very few privates. Heck, BA was really the only school providing "aid" to prospecting student athletes back in the late 80s/90s that i can recall. Has Stratford ever been to a Championship Game?
  18. Co-op with HL would make sense but White Creek/Hillwood could make an argument that they would be a good fit for some additional student-athletes. I suppose HL and WC are the closest schools to Republic. WC used to be a great environment to watch/play a Friday night football game. The smell of the fish sandwiches and the entertaining band added to the joy of Friday nights at The Creek.
  19. What school will the Republic kids play for this season?
  20. The East Nashville area has changed dramatically over the last several years with many younger people moving in the area. Not sure what the enrollment is a East now but all of the coaches that i know have moved on to other schools. They have been one of the better Metro teams over the last several years. I assume that JPII is getting some of the better East Nashville student athletes these days. I believe that having teachers/coaches in the building tremendously helps the program's chances for success in metro. Principals who understand this and are willing to work with ADs and HCs regarding hiring are the ones i would want to work with. Not much of this in metro right now imo.
  21. Whites Creek used to compete with MBA, Father Ryan and all the other metro squads each year back in the day. The Creek and MBA were usually the two top Nashville teams from the early 90s. The Law years with Graham at the helm could beat just about anyone. Will MLK/Pearl be the top Metro team next year or will Cane Ridge regroup and take the title of Metro's best?
  22. Hillwood played and beat Father Ryan High School at Bellevue's field in the fall of 1990. Should be a good atmosphere in Bellevue Friday night. Go Toppers!!!
  23. Is this PC team the best team they have had since the Santonio Beard years? I see their 9th grade team won it all again this year (congrats). Does that make 3 in a row?
  24. I believe this game with Hillwood will be highly competitive. With Hillwood losing to HL earlier this year, this game could go either way. Hope both teams come out injury free.
