Wilson pins Mercante. Bradley takes out Wilson Central Science Hill beats Arlington. Cleveland/Blackman Bradley/Science Hill semis tomorrow. Nolensville rolls Signal Mountain. Will meet Pigeon Forge in the final tomorrow.
-
Pigeon Forge beats Fairview to make the A/AA final. McCallie takes out the Bros for a spot in the D2 final. Wilson and Bradley coming down to 106 and Arlington/Science Hill will go down to the wire as well
-
Fairview beats Hixson and Nolensville beats Greeneville. Looks like some were way wrong on A/AA. Including myself.
-
Signal runs through Alcoa. PF cruising. Nolensville and Greeneville are neck and neck. And Hixon/Fairview is coming down to heavyweight with arguably the top 2 in A/AA going at it. How exciting!
-
I’d say it definitely makes him the favorite! I wonder if there’s any chance we see Cannon vs Borders this weekend
-
Those 4 plus Nolensville are the ones I think could all end up on top. Gonna be a fun one!
-
Agreed. I see 5 or 6 that I think if they get rollin could win it.
-
Tomorrow is the big day. As I’m sure there will be lots of conversation over the next couple days, let’s try to keep it all centralized here and not on multiple threads. Any updates, big matches, upsets...anything to do with the state duals. Good luck to everyone competing! May the best teams stand tall Saturday evening!
-
Right the rules are different for D2. And you’re right it is what it is. Which is what I said in my original post. And it’s not fair. But we can’t do anything about it. It seems my bad assumptions got everyone off track. My apologies
-
This is very true. TJ is one of the best to ever do it in the state of Tennessee. My point was that had he been D2 he wouldn’t have ran into Brayden. Or TJ for that matter and would be a 4 timer. Aka I don’t think he beats Brayden at all, so my assumption (yes I know I’m sorry!) was that he left to go D2 to get more exposure and have a better shot at winning. Just like these other kids including Horst and Bates, will go to these big schools to “get better” and have a better chance at winning. And I’ll say it again, I don’t think it mattered with Horst and Bates because they would both win 4 no matter where they were.. UNLESS Horst went somewhere else in D1 and had to go through Brayden..then I don’t think he wins 4.
-
Very true. Cleveland has and will continue too. Same with Science Hill getting kids from Tennessee and Wilson Central getting kids from mt. Juliet and Lebanon. Now while I honestly believe that Horst and Bates would’ve been 4 timers no matter where they were, it’s obvious that teams will do what it takes to make their team better, kids will go where they think they have better opportunities/exposure, and parents will do what it takes to send their kids where they have better opportunities and exposure. I don’t agree with any of it. And if the bowers moved for personal reasons then I apologize for using their name, but it still shows that studs move around a lot and Baylor shouldn’t be singled out. If the Bowers moving weren’t Christian Brothers choice...well Horst and Bates moving wasn’t forced by Baylor either. The kids and the parents wanted it. And of course Baylor is gonna welcome those 2 with open arms 10 out of 10 times
-
I think you misunderstood. I didn’t mean I’d take bowers on my team over both Bates and Horst. I meant if we lined up bowers vs Horst and Bowers vs Bates I would pick bowers to win both. Meaning I just think that he’s a better stud individually that both. Not put together lol
-
The point wasn’t that they just got a D1 state champ..the point was they get transfers from D1 schools too. I’d take Garrett Bowers p4p over Horst and Bates. Had he not run into Brayden Palmer, arguably one of the best light weights we’ve seen since I can remember, he’d be a sure fire 4 timer. I wasn’t trying to start anything..just saying that you can’t really complain about Baylor getting D1 transfers when they aren’t the only ones
-
Glad to see the Calvert showed up. Thanks for letting him defend his self.. I don’t care where he went to school or who he supports...sure your right I shouldn’t assume. But the point was you can’t complain about Baylor doing it when they aren’t the only ones. CBHS plucked the Bowers brothers from Cleveland. And while neither was in D1 long enough to win a title..Aiden never was..that’s 2 huge additions. 2 additions that without, they don’t beat Ryan, and don’t come close to having a shot at beating Baylor. And if we are honest, even though they have “D1 state titles”, I probably wouldn’t take Bates or Horst P4P over Garrett. So that’s a HUGE transfer that has made them a lot better
-
Lol. I agree with your statement..but assuming your a CBHS fan I must say you don’t have much room to talk, considering they do it too. It’s not fair for anyone but it is what it is.
-
I completely agree on Ryan! If they had been on the Bros side I think I’d take them but I don’t know if anyone in the state beats a 100% healthy Baylor. It will be fun for sure!
-
Glad to see someone joining the conversation instead of talking about bracket placement! Is it weird that I think Bradley being 3rd would be an upset? It sure sounds weird! But they seem to be on a down year. We shall see though! I know you will agree with me when I say I really hope R6 and R7 make some serious noise! Really excited to see how Centennial matches up with the “top teams”

I saw them against Soddy. And while I know that’s not a great measuring stick this year, they looked great. They beat Maryville, beat Grissom, did well to hang with Bob Jones. Won Greeneville by half a point over Greeneville. Top 10 at Bradley. They are tough. I think a Hixon/Greeneville final would be a war
-
A little boldness. Enjoy! Champ. Brackets aren’t out yet, but when they are released this is where I’ll drop my full bracket predictions. however we do have all 16 qualifiers so for now, I’ll settle for power ranking the 16 teams! 1. Cleveland 2. Wilson Central 3. Arlington 4. Blackman 5. Centennial 6. Bradley 7. Science Hill 8. Indy 9. Beech 10. Heritage 11. Maryville 12. Tennessee 13. Halls 14. Houston 15. Tullahoma 16. Sevier Co Don’t know much about Sevier or Tullahoma. I feel pretty good about the top 8. 9-13 I think could go any which way. 14-16 I haven’t seen much of but don’t see them hanging with the others.
-
Houston beats Collierville. Arlington and Houston advance from R8
-
I figured just as much. Very strange that it got released that way.
