  1. You undermine your own credibility with that statement; they may be white, but Jacob Williams is an elite, versatile talent for TN HS hoops. Williams can take it off the dribble and score, he can hit the mid-range jumper consistently, he can hit the three off the dribble or set-up pass, he can set picks and grab tough offensive boards, he does it all. Ben Palmer and Jon Rosshirt are also pretty darn exceptional talents with high hoops IQs as well. Palmer is super smart and a focused mechanical operator in the paint while Rosshirt is a Steve Nash clone. Matthew Hall is also very competent and a danger if you leave him open. They're way better than a Walker Valley or a Dobyns-Bennett and they should cream Hunters Lane for the same reasons Brentwood did; because WC isn't one-dimensional. All teams like Hunters Lane can do is penetrate and hope you don't know how to play defense, because they can't shoot worth a lick and don't run very sophisticated/cerebral sets. Teams with athletes can beat most teams but they can't beat teams with smarts who prepare.
  2. Yeah, I guess you're right: deliberate, nuanced game-planning, complex scouting breakdowns and film study are always overrated.
  3. Powell@Jefferson County Dobyns-Bennett@Oak Ridge Blackman@Stone Memorial Walker Valley@Siegel Kenwood@Brentwood Hunters Lane@Wilson Central Hamilton@Arlington Dyer Co.@White Station
  4. Honest question: has any boy's team ever won the Region 6 title three straight times? If Brentwood wins Thursday, they will either have set that record or at least matched it if anyone else has already done it.
  5. Looks like Station Camp is who we thought they were. Somebody make sure Fat Boy's girlfriend gets home safely
  6. Now we know this kid's full of it. You already told us you go to school with Kyle Anderton and he is your boyfriend. Please send me an e-vite when yall get hitched. I have no idea whether SC has coalesced and is meshing at a peak chemistry level (entirely possible, as they started off the year with several new transfers), but you have had losing streaks of 4 and 3 games. You've split with nearly every other team in your district. Not giving you the respect of a top-3 Tennessee team isn't a reflection of your team's talent level (which is probably upper echelon in TN this year), but of the fact that the Bison have EIGHT losses. It's a solid record, but it's not an elite record through the district tourney.
  7. Wow, what are the chances that Wilson Central has to face Kenwood in Region? That would be the best Region elimination game (outside of Greater Memphis, at least) statewide.
  8. I don't think this will be announced until after the season, but I hear the LaVergne coach will be out and the AD Jeremy Moore, also an ex-LaVergne/ex-Independence head coach, will take the reins again.
  9. Which D1 signees, other than Belmont F Blake Jenkins, were on that team? I seem to remember Unapproved Website listing Jenkins and some other guy as having Virginia Tech offers for most of the year.
  10. Has anyone watched this kid play this year? In his game against us, I didn't sense the raw athleticism and bounce he displays on the AAU circuit. Being recruited by some big boys...
  11. Thanks, TheRealTruth, for your classy post. I plan on doing our program's reconnaissance for the 9-AAA quarterfinals/semifinals. Should be some really good games those nights. Funny to see how Lebanon dropped all the way to a #6 seed given how hot their year started!
  12. You don't know me, so you can think it's as odd as you want. And we don't want you to like us. Nobody outside Brentwood likes the town itself, so why should they like Brentwood the school? My point is that we've earned the right to a certain amount of respect at this point that's not reflected on this thread or generally on this site in general. Please go root for whoever we're playing. We don't care. But we did like shutting all those Blackman fans up in Murfreesboro last year. And FWIW, yes, there are plenty of quality teams in this district that I'd be concerned about playing in sub-state SHOULD we make it that far. We don't play 9-AAA in Region; we play either a team from your district or Clarksville's district in sectionals, hence my interest in this thread. However, like several other teams in this district, our goals go beyond making it to the Region tourney.
  13. Do you always spew dumb things that you can't back up? Is Kyle Anderton your prom date or your son? Brentwood destroyed Station Camp@Station Camp 63-38 last year. Their coach e-mailed our head coach and said we were the program he wanted to model his own team after because of how we conducted business on and off the court. Our players don't talk mess, they just beat you soundly by maximizing possessions and, in doing so, make teams without a plan look like amateurs. And yes, we play fundamental hoops but have had several D-1 caliber guys the last few years (including a couple guys about to sign with Lipscomb). We have the thickest playbook in the state. The most imposing thing SC did against us was Anderton landing his gut on our best defensive player, breaking his foot and ending his career. And we STILL beat 30-0 Blackman in the state tournament after finishing off Wilson Central in sub-state. I can't remember the last time we lost to Beech (like that 1-3-1 they run, though) and, including summer games, we've beaten Mt. Juliet four times this season. Don't really see how any of y'all can talk mess about a program that has that kind of resume over your district. I won't say a cross word about Wilson Central because they're my second-favorite team in the state because of the rivalrly we've developed with them, but the rest of your district hasn't earned the right to say jack.
  14. Brentwood doesn't have the right to talk about any Memphis team it hasn't ever played, but 9-AAA teams certainly don't have much precedent (apart from sub-state two years ago) to act like they'd beat us straight-up.
  15. FYI Brentwood has had its ticket punched to Region for a few weeks now. Ravenwood should have the other District 11-AAA bye. All District determines is seeding for Region. Brentwood lost both district tourney games last year (snapping 17-game winning streak) and proceeded to win its next five games before losing to Southwind during the Final Four round.
  16. Can't believe there was ever any real discussion about who the best player was in this district. Williams is a total boss. Was not impressed with Anderton when I saw him play last year but don't think SC has a very good coach. Hope WC wins the Region so we don't have to play them again in Sub-State for the third straight year. SC might have the raw athletes but WC is well-coached and hard to beat w/ that odd-but-effective zone they run.
  17. Rematch tonight@Brentwood. Can Matthew Hailey & co. pull off the upset for the Raptors?
  18. Not seeing Mt. Juliet or Riverdale in state, probably not even sub-state...their districts/regions are just too competitive.
  19. Have to agree that Bonds is far more important to CPA's success than Allsmiller
  20. Leron Black-White Station Charles Clark-Siegel Andy Schumpert-Brentwood Jacob Williams-Wilson Central
  21. Haven't had the pleasure if seeing Arlington or Hamilton (I live in Middle Tenn.) but I believe I insinuated Hamilton should be ahead of Arlington.
  22. LOL@this poll dropping Brentwood lower and lower. BHS (13-1) is one of the top three teams in AAA statewide again (along with White Station and Siegel) with their only loss to CPA (which hasn't lost in like 900 games). Most of those games, including the close-call with CPA, were played without All-District junior PG James McPherson, arguably the best pure point guard in the state. Senior forwards Andy Schumpert (reigning Region POY) and Jacob Adcock are averaging career highs in points and consistently producing. Schedule hasn't been crazy so far but boast solid wins over Blackman (aka Brentwood's gimp), La Vergne and two wins over Mt. Juliet. While BHS doesn't have the sheer top-heavy caliber of high-major D1 talent that some Memphis teams do, the Bruins have about 5-6 guys who can play on the mid-major through D2/D3 level now. Brentwood is a high priesthood of shooters with easily the thickest Playbook in the state. After those three (and I'm open to including Hamilton here but need to see more), my favorites for the state tourney include a senior-dominated Wilson Central squad, Arlington and Stone Memorial.
  23. Franklin promoted their first-year JV coach from last year, according to FHS assistant Derek Batt...at least that's the impression I was given in regards to their interim plans.
