  1. Jesus, Just seed the tournament by region placements and be done with it. Drop the returning state placer rule. If you don't place in the region, you don't go to state. If you are sick during region you don't go to state. If you placed 3rd in state last year and don't place 1- 4 in the region guess what ........ you don't go to state. All divisions. Wow that would be so hard to seed i'm not the smartest person around but crap is crap. What idiot decided that last year should give you a free ride this year. Just because you were the man last year, doesn't mean that you are the man this year. JUST SEED IT LIKE EVERY OTHER TOURNAMENT IN THE WRESTLING WORLD.
  2. most of the officials will just call the pin or award a tech point after the nearfall is over. stopping is stupid. maybe we should teach this to all kids at the youth level. lol The only time it should be stopped is if it results in the grabber getting the upperhand. Ive even seen the officials just swat the hand away from the singlet. It should be just like locked hands. don't stop it award the point during action unless it results in getting the upper hand. ITS THAT EASY...
  3. Wilkins lost to dickeson. 7-5 good match. Its ok we know what to do now to beat him.
  4. Archer has done great! As have some of our hometown teams. I believe if we had the same state rule set, then some of our local TN teams would also be ranked. Many Tn kids futures depend on what kind of scholarship they can get. Yes a State championship would be awesome. As an individual or as a team. But the end goal is college. Limiting travel is limiting exposer. We have got to get our kids out there and get them the recognition many of them have worked more than half of there lives toward. If I were a college coach looking at transcripts and in one hand I had a TN kid, that was a 2 time state champ. In the other hand, a 2 time Georgia runner up that was also 2nd ,3rd and 4th in national and out of state tournaments. Guess who im picking. " Georgia " Could the TN wrestler hang out of state? The Georgia kid has proved that he can. We need to be able to travel like archer. The kids from TN will shock a lot of people, if given the chance.
  5. We know . We have heard if he had to make a choice it would be baseball. Also heard he is reeeeaaaalllly good at it. Just would like to get the work in with him. Dickerson from Wilson will be a real good one. He will wrestle him a couple of times soon. Lane is a very good wrestler. He has beat simpson before. That match at the Father Ryan Tournament was great. 2-2 and decide by a stalling point. Both wrestlers were planning on overtime you could tell. But instead it was decided by a stalling point with less than 5 seconds in the match. At that point it was anyones match. Shoulda gone to overtime. A very good wrestler in Dickerson was put out and should have been in medal rounds. The only thing I would have changed about the format of the tournament would be all double elimination on the second day. At the end of the tournament, Kirby had 1 loss. lane had 1 loss. Zack had 1 loss. Auburn kid had 1 loss. Koo in 4th had 2 losses both to zack. Lane never had the chance to face 3rd or 4th place. I wont make any predictions don't want to make enemies. PAT NEXT YEAR DOUBLE ELIMINATION ALL MATCHES 2ND DAY at least in the gold division. OOps to the point would love to practice and learn from Kirby. Or anyone willing to do it. We even have a small mat here at home lol. Thanks for the support for my freshman yall. He hates when I post says it seems arrogant.
  6. He was very disappointed losing that match. The loss didn't kill him. He said all day I want to wrestle Kirby. They are friends. Kirby stomped a mud -hole in him when he was a 7th grader like 16-5 or something close to that. They have not got to wrestle since then. But you ought to have seen how disappointed he was when the lights went out and the one mat was highlighted. Sorry yall he tried to get there. Great job Kirby. Looking at our schedule he will not get to see Kirby again. Kinda sucks. Maybe a practice scrimmage this summer or something. That's o.k. though a lot of other good ones to wrestle.
  7. If someone could post them it would be nice. Thanks in advance.
  8. Does anyone know the time for the Wilson central match? Is it Friday or Saturday. And time please.
  9. I have a legally blind mother-in-law that's gets ..........um..........er........Lets just say "CRANKY" if she has to stumble around much looking for stuff. Imagine that a cranky mother-in-law. lol
  10. Is this gonna be in the main high school? Or is it going to be where we had the last match with yall, coach? (In the annex) Excited !!!!!! First individual for our freshman class. "Which is 3/4 of our team"
  11. The camp we wanted to attend is full and are looking for another during the break
  12. This point in the season its great the refs are talking to the kids by the way. You've got to remember its early in the season still. Some of the kids might need to be reminded on a wing "keep it legal" A) It keeps a kid from getting hurt. The kid in control wont have to lose the move, because it went to far. I believe that it is a good practice. If they were not doing it, we would be talking about the kids that got hurt because it wasn't being said. Or we would be talking about the refs not enforcing action. All I've personally heard is ( keep it legal, Work in guys, action, and wrestle ) All of which help the match and keep the injuries away. Great job guys keep it up!!!!!!!
  13. I agree wrestling the line is being taught . I don't like it at all. It makes for a long boring match. Sometimes over 10 minutes for a match that isn't even close .Kids are being taught wrestle the line if they get a shot on you back out. I've watched kids take the other down 3-4 times before they finally get the takedown or a stalling point. Yes if your close to the line on your back push out. But if you are neutral top or bottom ,don't move to the line before trying a move. Just my opinion.
  14. If i'm remembering the right match. M.J. wrestled a Clarksville team and won then we lost to beech don't remember scores . Probably not much help . But I believe that's the one you are talking about. The Clarksville team had a cancellation and it was turned into a tri. 90 percent sure Beech won both. You know how it is I cant remember what I had for breakfast yesterday.
  15. Great job guys. This is awesome that the closest local college to Mt. Juliet is doing so well. Keep up the great work in life and on the mat.
  16. O.K. you all can laugh now what is an airdyne?. And we will always take help and advice as long as it doesn't infringe or break any rules. He knows he was beat at 132.........stamina, training , cardio saved that match for him. The Riverdale kid was a beast. Zack said when they locked up he was pushing as hard as he could and still moving backwards. 132 is his eat pizza everyday weight. That match showed him what was in store for him. Riverdale was very good but he didn't even place last year. No offense meant to anyone by that statement. My boy was like "I'm gonna get killed wrestling the ranked kids." But thanks all I need to quit posting gonna get in trounble
  17. not running the dam but is putting in 3-4 extra miles daily after practice. The club thing for the summer is an issue. He was wrestling for lions pride but I don't know if they are gonna do it this year or not. So we may be looking for a club. We have been asking around about after season clubs but have not really got into that hard yet. He needs to concentrate on the high school season for now.
  18. I figured it was you and thank you. you have always been nice to me and him. thanks again coach
  19. Thanks Razzlin!!! Between you and Sommers yall got a lot of the answers. In case yall don't know im new posting the last couple of weeks. Have been here viewing, but not posting. Great site. Great info and a lot of laughs during the..."debates"..... I use debates loosely. I will never hide behind a screen name. Everyone who knows me, knows who the Buckeye is in Tennessee. Jeff Wilkins, I am Zacks dad. I am just wishing our schedule was stronger at Mount Juliet. We wont get to wrestle the top guys unless my son makes it to state. I like to get him pumped before big matches. All matches are important, But some are just big matches. He works hard, as do most of the guys on yalls lists. once again thanks guys, and if I ever sound conceded it not meant to be just proud of someone who works hard in school, life, and on the mat.
  20. Still no replies. rrrrrrrrrrrrrr Lots of views so I know " The people want to know" Does anyone looking know where to find the entrants?
