  1. Really? I talked to one of the seniors and he is expecting to play. Anybody else hear anything on this?
  2. I've read a lot of the threads on the "T" but I can surely say that most of the ones on the WB thread put a smile on my face. Red Reb, way to cover your butt. My wife wont admit it but she reads T when I'm not looking. GovMan, cant wait till fiday nite to hear some real announcing.
  3. I was at Tulane stadium back in 1967 when the N.O. Saints made their NFL debut. We sat behind the visitors goal posts. A return man, think his name was Gilliam returned the opening kick off for a touchdown. I was only 11 but I remember the stands went wild. The stadium held 100,000 people and everybody kept saying we were going all the way. I think we finally got a .500 season after 13yrs and a winning season 21yrs later. It took 43 years to go all the way and most of that time you would hear the fans say "I'll never watch them tramps again" but the next week would come and we would all be glued to the tv watching them play. My point is, if your a real fan, you know it in your heart through thick and thin. govfan18 I would be glad to take you back just remember to hold your tongue till the anger dies down. It will get better, just hopefully sooner rather than later. To GovFan, well said.
  4. As a true fan of different programs, I can tell you that it will eventually get better. How often is it that you see a first year coach go to the playoffs? A .500 season is usually expected. I sat through a lot of really bad Saints games and teams but finally got the prize 43 years later. I believe Coach Ridge is the person to turn the team around but needs to take the reins of the cart and take control. It will get better.
  5. I am disappointed in most of the team. The lack of leadership is surely showing on the field. I also think the coaching staff needs to be more stern with the players. We may have to use a different QB as Daniels seems to have lost confidence in his throwing game and was off the mark on most of his throws. Delaney looked pretty good and could emerge as a good team leader but needs to step up a little more. BTW, nice pick 6 for the 100 to him. Otis was the sole running back as Fair was out with an ankle injury. Had another 70yd breakaway run but lost 15 of those yds to a facemask penalty at the end. After looking at the films, he only fumbled once but was bad timing as HV turned it into 6 points. The tackling on defense was awful. 3rd and long situations for HV turned into 1st and 10's as our tackling game sucked. The HV running back or receiver would gain at least 5yds after the initial hit. Maybe with the week off, we can get healthy and make some changes.
  6. Gotta be jealousy. Anybody that's read all my posts would realize I'm not his brother. If it will stop your stupid guessing games I will submit and say the Canes were a better team, that night.
  7. Colorado, you just mad cuz Otis trucked over all your players. He's better than any athlete on your team. You mad cuz he hurt or bruised you or someone in your family? Or are you jealous because he broke 6-7 tackles for a 70yd TD run? Maybe you couldn't tackle him. Maybe your son sits the bench. Whatever the reason, your analysis is all wrong, including who you think I am. Mr. Otis is quiet and reserved. He doesn't read this stuff or get a newspaper. When the SCBears beat yall down this week, you can ask any of the coaches or players. So try to keep your posts about the game instead of throwing around your guessing games.
  8. I don't think it would ever be canceled either, but do believe their should be limits. Cant let it get out of hand where somebody gets hurt. I believe if the jersey had no number and just the name of the team, they would still be playing.
  9. East was a tougher game than expected and I think our boys were a little high on themselves so they came out flat. That gave East the advantage in the first qtr. Also the penalties against us played a part. I also saw a ton of holding on the front line against East that wasn't called. We are still scoring over 30 points per game and that's a big plus. I wont predict a score but will say the Govs should have no problem taking this game.
  10. My oldest son played a rival one year and when the opposing team came out their tunnel, there was a jersey hanging at the end with a number on it. It was the number of our head coaches son. They ripped that jersey all to heck coming out the tunnel. We were sitting by the coaches wife and she was crying and scared to death for her son. Needless to say, those two teams never played each other again. They said the rivalry had gotten out of hand. That was 13yrs ago.
  11. 38 for West does seem a bit much but 49 against West seems a little high too. I'm thinking like MV37 West13.
  12. You only need 2 dbs to cover the deep ball. Don't let the receivers get behind them. Its just that their good on the slants and crossing routes. They also get a lot of yards on swing pass after the catch.
  13. coloradojoe, if you want to see what yall are up against, rhis is Mannings 2012 highlight video. Let me know what you think.
  14. Man, of all games I forgot about DB. They always play SC tough and they are usually very good. I have heard that they do lack some power this year. 91, you are right, the RB for MoEast is quick and can read the holes. If they can keep Manning contained, cover the deep ball, and create some turnovers, it could make for a good game.
  15. I also believe the bears will have their way with the canes. The canes make to many mistakes and wont be able to defend Mannings passes. I think the only team standing in SC's way is Maryville.
  16. Yes Joel did have a great game. I think he had like 130-140 pass rec yds. I think he also got player of the game. MoEast only had like 40-50 yds passing and I'm sure that's why they stacked the line. Also Daniels did a decent job. Chasing the snaps and throwing for a pick 6 probably shook his confidence. We have had a few problems with the snaps this year. When you have to look around for the snap and take your eyes off your receivers and defensive coverages, it makes for a tough passing game. As for our kicking game, I don't see us kicking many field goals. It takes leg strength and accuracy and I don't know of anybody on the team with both.
  17. Actually I was quoting a couple stats I heard on the radio and was thinking that anybody that can rush the ball 150yds with only 9 carries and not be in for a quarter of the game, they need to get the ball in his hands more often. Passing is good for WB and Daniels made a couple poor decisions but he put some on the money that should have been caught and could have changed the outcome. I post about Otis because I know the family. As a 15yr coach, I may analyze a little but its what coaches do. As for this web site, I had just learned about it a few weeks back and liked the forums.
  18. MoEast was tougher than expected. We made mistakes but so did they. They had 6 fumbles and lost 3, we had I think 4 and lost none. Although the int could not have come at a worse time. Otis had about 170 total yards and about 150 on only 9 carries. The other 20 was pass reception. This is also the 3rd game straight he has scored a td on runs over 60 yards. He also cramped up early in the third and didn't come back till mid 4th. He pretty much missed a whole qtr. We shot ourselves in the foot by missing an extra point, a field goal, and 3 deep balls (2 of which were tds). We also had about 100yds in penalties, uncommon for this squad. Well all we can do is lick our wounds, LEARN from our mistakes, and move on to Hardin Valley.
  19. I remember it being Jim Mora while coaching the Saints.
  20. Well another football Friday is here. Week went by quick. There is a lot of excitement here at WB. Lets start the tailgate party and get ready for kickoff!!!
  21. ripzip11, great point. The Otis thing needs to be put to rest (at least on this thread). I will say this last thing, I know he wanted to stay at SC. He likes his coaches and team mates and knows SC will do good even without him. His bond and dedication to family is stronger. Good luck to all teams and pray for minimal injuries.
  22. He is a good RB, but have you seen the O-line for WB? They are big and making holes that gets both running backs 100yd games. Daniels is also getting better and because we can throw the ball, it opens up the running attack.
  23. I wouldn't worry abt it 91, Otis will probably get more yards in each game than SC rushes in a whole game. Don't know why they would consider him the 3rd running back. If they have 7or8 athletes better than him, more power to them. I just don't remember any that had 4.4 speed and hit as hard and can bench 325 and squat 600 and could punt almost 50yds and other things. I just don't remember any.
  24. Is the Banks kid who is the transfer eligible and did he play? He attended both Ezell Harding and Gallatin last year. Mondo44, I read an article about the game in the mountain press and it mentioned pretty much all the running backs and their yards in the Bearden game but Banks name wasn't mentioned so I am guessing he didn't get to run the ball or had no yards. Banks may have gotten 2000 yards at his other school but I barely see 500 yards in this division, on a team that lives and dies by the pass.
  25. Dang , let's just go ahead and give you the trophy now and do away with the rest of the season , save the rest of us a lot of heartache ! Lol Good one pepvol. Although I will say this, Manning is very accurate and smart. He knows when to throw and when to pull it down and run. Their running game is ok, but have quick and good hands receivers. Their defense is decent but they swarm the ball. Bearden should have been a tougher challenge for them so either they are that good or Bearden isn't as good as predicted. Either way, Sevier will be the team to beat this year. They are an exciting team to watch.
