Does anyone know when spring practice is for any of the teams in Morgan County? I know some have started. Any scrimmages lined up?

I like to look at things from both sides so here is my two cents on a few comments and since my boys have a down week this week I will talk on here. The 2010 team was filled with multiple all state guys. One of them is my little cousin. The coaches can coach till they are blue in the face but if they don't have the athletes to make it work it won't work. Coaches get too much credit when teams do well. They also get too much blame when things are going south. Its all about the players and right now Coalfield has the players. That brings me to my next point. I watched them play against Coalfield. It really looked to me like they did not have many quality athletes. I remember a big linebacker they had that was pretty good but other than that they did not impress me much. For the biggest school in the county why don't they have more size and quantity. Looked like about 30 players if that. I took a quick look at their schedule. Every team they have lost to has a winning record except Harriman. They lost to Harriman pretty bad though. I don't know the Brauner guy, I only know one coach up there. Is it his fault completely? I would doubt it but I will go out on a limb and say they need to look elsewhere if he can't get players out. How long has he been there again?

Bible will be a huge loss for us. I wasn't able to make the game due to work. I'm sure our coaching staff are looking over film and will be making some tweaks to get us back on track.

This is something unrelated to the football game itself but something I feel needs to be addressed and fixed. There are two upskirt pictures in the photo gallery (OS at Oakdale) of an oliver springs cheerleader that I feel are very distasteful. I understand that the bloomers show nothing more than a bathing suit would show but I feel it needs to be taken down. If that was my daughter and that picture was up there, I would be pretty upset with the photographer. I normally think this young man does great work with the games he photographs.

You said similar talent. Since when does Oakdale and Oliver Springs have similar talent? Oakdale is still Oakdale. I don't think they stand a chance against Oliver Springs even when Oliver Springs is down and I cannot stand Oliver Springs.

Our boys should come in and totally dominate Sunbright. Maybe even have some younger guys in there for the 4th. Like someone else said this is not a good time to be facing Coalfield. They will come in ready to prove they stand amongst the top tier in Single A Football.

Don't know much about Wartburg. I thought they might have had a chance against Rockwood but I was wrong. I think they will go in fired up against Oneida though. Game could go either way if that happens. Good luck to both teams.

I agree. Oakdale has been bottom feeding these past two weeks. It will show this Friday. As bad as I hate to say it Oliver Springs wins big.

Harriman gets the win in this one if they can stop the two headed monster of Bunch and Swint. I remember Harriman was young last year. I will take Harriman by 8.

That's right. Coalfield can outphysical Catholic IF they jump on them early. I think Catholic won't know what hit them. They won't expect Coalfield to be as physical as they are. Also, Coalfields running backs will definitely be more physical. They are a load and they rarely take hits. They give them! Going to be a good matchup.

Kaz, Both teams had more than enough opportunities to score more points and should have. Penalties were drive killers and both teams had them. I agree that both teams defenses looked head and shoulders above the offensive units. When you have two teams that line up in similar offenses and practice against that offense all day the defense is bound to look better. All that was just my opinion. As far as Rockwood and Wartburg I don't really care too much but I wouldn't count out the bulldogs. I would say this game could go either way but I will take the dogs.

Nobody is taking Wartburg in this one? I have not seen Wartburg this year at all but did go check out the Rockwood and Oneida game. Oneida and Rockwood were not very impressive. I thought both teams played ok defense or was it both teams offenses couldn't get going? Rockwood had decent size but I didn't think they had very good speed. For the sake of Morgan County I will take Wartburg after seeing Rockwood play Friday. If you all want to see a good ballgame come out to Coalfield on Friday night.

Coalfield has as good a chance as any to beat a good Catholic team. I'm predicting Coalfield to come out and try to slow the game down by snapping the ball late. That will prevent Catholic from using numbers to wear Coalfield down. Well it will help. I think Coalfield will come out and punch Catholic in the mouth and Catholic will not be able to recover.
