  1. So you call Big Dan out at 1 am and wonder why he hasnt replied. Well thats because Big Dan has to sleep and work. This is simple. Just tell me that The kids that live in Union City attend elem, mid school, then high school in union city, all of them. How many kids in union city attend Obion Central? Tell me what the enrollment would be if all the kids in union city actually went to union city. I will explain the "advantage" one more time, Union City has a population that should support a 3 or 4a enrollment. The county has a 4a school 8 miles down the road. So they have a much larger population feeding their football program that is not reflected in their total enrollment. This is what allows Swo to say " well they been here since kindergarten" and he is correct. but the part left out is that the two kids that dont play football on each side of that kindergartner went to Obion . to put it in perspective Martin;s population is about the same as union city. Weakley Co has has 3 singleA schools that service the rest of co (Dresden,Gleason,Greenfield), So Martin's enrollment comes primarily from the population of the city of Martin. So two cities almost the same size but one is 1a and the other is 3a. It is a great system to stack a 1a team. Even better than Kennymynats system of work study for the slightly undersized BA/Ensworth free agents.
  2. the beauty of your system is not going to get kids to come to union city but moving kids out of union city to Obion central to stay under 500 students. yeah sure your football players started in elementary and middle. but the kid sitting next to them went to Obion . cities with union cities population, that have a city school are 3 if not 4A. Its a great manipulation of the system. Embrace it. my only question is i am not sure how you turn kids away, is it a lottery?
  3. Play with the big boys? it is union city that chooses to avoid the big boys and play in the smallest level available.
  4. Its funny aint it SWO, you get to laugh all the way to the state title. Why dont you explain how a city the same size as Martin maintains a school eligible to play single A. Swo gets on here and yucks it up with each opponent and acts like he's their big buddy, when actually he's the guy that pats you on the back with one hand and takes your wallet out of your pocket with the other. he knows the system they have created and doesnt care that it unfairly effects all the other kids in single A. Explain to the kids in Dresden, a city 4 times smaller than union city, why they have to play you. explain to them how your facilities are 10 times better than theirs but they have to compete at the same level union city chooses to play. I doubt you will. instead i suspect you will just revert to name calling like you usually do
  5. Dresden dont feel bad, you were actually beat in the Union City School Board meeting some years ago. Union city's population is 10,750. if you add up the population of the 4 closest single a schools, Dresden(2927), gleason(1413), greenfield(2136) and south Fulton (2304) you only come up with a population of 8780. So Dresden, in order to compete with the way Union City does things, you need to convince all the good football players from Westview-Martin gleason and greenfield to come to one school but limit the total number of kids to less than 500. S. Fulton you're just screwed.
  6. SWo you gotta be a west tn democrat, immediately goes to name calling and then to the most oft used put down on the T " the disgruntled player accusation".. I Just state the facts. At least Alcoa and Maryville own it and move up in classification.
  7. Yawn....Stretch... Oh its big self righteous Swo. Open zone monster waking up here. So Swo says "we dont worry about the privates, you just got to beat them", of course you dont worry about the small privates, you have created a more unfair system than the 1A privates have. What if all counties with a 4A county school decided to keep one school in the county at 1A level and funnel the football players to that school. You can thump your chest all you want but have the decency to move out of 1A. You win the smallest division in the state by creating an tremendous advantage and then act like you have done something noble
  8. Is there any way we can get the video of the CA kid tackling the CA kid that was chasing the NCS kicker. Too funny, never seen that before
  9. made it up for the game tonight and sat with the CA bunch. i specifically watched the kicker every kickoff for NCS. Last year was over the top , they sent 2 guys at times and really appeared to try and hurt the kid.. this year not so much. they sent one guy at the kicker. it is awkward cause the kicker hangs back so far that you have an extended time to block him. it is just a weird situation for the kids to be in. CA ran a kickoff back for a td . on that runback the CA guy just ran up and faced off with the kicker. they didnt hit they just stood there looking at each other. when it was apparent that the runner was breaking it , the kicker then tried to run over and make a tackle. he didnt get there in time , so asssigining a guy to block him was the right thing to do. The one kid from CA lost his cool but the kicker cant be left alone to make a play just because he is small and a kicker. Go hit him if he gets up hit him again but when whistle blows you might want to stop. dont make one of your own players have to tackle you as the kicker runs towards his own sideline 10 seconds after whistle has blown.
  10. i bet all eyes will be on NCS kicker on first kickoff
  11. Monoptn had a lot to say but never addressed the incident and the fact that CA coaches did approve because they did it the year before. And in addition to the 2 videos on here, they did it at least 2 more times in that game. The only reason it wasnt 4 more times is because the kicker actually went towards the other endzone after he kicked off. Thanks for the video, i have tried to describe how bad it was to others and i am sure they think i am exaggerating. the video speaks volumes about how the CA kids are coached. Been following 10a a long time and have never seen anything like that, you might see a cheap shot every now and then but to do the same thing over and over was not the actions of an angry player but a planned attack by the so called adults on the sideline.
  12. Hold on a minute. no penalty on the Academy?. I was at this game and witnessed this. One of the worst since the Eagles/Cowboys games of the 80s. CA coaches high fived the boys when they came off field after what was basically an assault. AN NCS parent went and confronted the coaches and got put in the penalty box. This will be a complete blow out but might be worth seeing for the fireworks.
  13. NCS may score 80, really i think they may. No love lost between these two. After the bush league attack on the kicker last year , i think NCS will pour it on.
  14. There's no crying in football. it will never change. tell low class humble boy to take his lumps and keep keeping on, it really doesnt change when you get out of HS and hit the real world. The Lord likes the multiplier but hates open zoning
  15. Not taking anything away from NCS but losing Upton early also played a role in East being completely inept on offense. I drove up to the big city for this one and it was not what i expected. If Upton doesnt get hurt and NCS would have kept feeding the ball to Bituli off tackle, specifically the 6'6" 290 lb tackle, NCS still wins running away. Hard to understand why NCS uses him only about half the time they are on offense. A win is a win so i guess you cant argue with it,
  16. i believe last year as east was driving for go ahead score they had a TD called back for an ineligible man down field. Legit call, that has to be made. i predict this year there will be multiple holding calls on NCS that will effect outcome.
  17. Sorry , I didnt mean to leave anyone out, but you are right. Open enrollment and Work Study have no business in 1 or 2 A and there are multiple offenders Union City's situation is just so perfect because they are in the heart of their population so kids arent forced to drive further, like Adamsville and South Pitt . In Adamsville the kids are driving right though Selmer to get to adamsville. Its a travesty that they are allowed to set it up that way..
  18. That move will never happen, unless Alcoa stays in 3a, and Union city decides 2a is easier to win than 1a. Union city came in at 397 in enrollment. wow isnt that amazing,. just under the wire. They control their numbers using the 4a school 8 miles down the road. anyone signing up once they hit 399 gets sent on down the road. Outside of just straight out bringing in guys from other counties , l.ike Alcoa does, Union City has created the perfect loophole. It is really kin to the magnet school theory , that has propelled east nash. Only difference between what Alcoa and Union City does is that Alcoa admits it and Union city tries to act like they are just a little ol, 1a school trying to get by. Union city and adamsville use the county wide open enrollment policy better than anyone.
  19. it will never happen. Union city controls their numbers. Once they hit 399 they send the rest to the 4a school 8 miles down the road.
  20. First you say "coach up the kids you have and play the hand you have" then you endorse going to get whatever kids you want. These are two different things. I guess what you are saying is Coaches should do whatever than can to convince kids to come to their school, rules be darned, then however it shakes out just coach the kids you end up with. Yeah that sounds like a good idea. Maybe you should forward this brilliant idea to NCAA. I
  21. you miss the point, you have taken good athletes that should be at Mcnairy and should be playing in a higher classification and play in weak 2a.
