17-10 Ravenwood refs are calling a terrible game

Is this years Oakland team better than last years?

Eating good, drinking gooder, and watching football with the family. I’ll be there right at 7 soon as I get off work. One X factor will be our secondary taking advantage of their spread type offense and forcing turnovers. I saw on highlights we had at least two picks that we dropped. We should’ve scored more against Germantown last week with all the turnovers they had so the offense has to take better advantage of opportunities the defense gives us. We have the clear advantage out wide but Sneed having succes running will be the main X factor. What is Ravenwoods dline looking like?

I guess we’ll have to wait and see but now that I think about it actually the first teo games I remember us getting out coached and out schemed. Defense is gonna have to play extremely disciplined and focused against Ravenwood.

Don’t know anything about Ravenwood this year but if we don’t beat ourselves with turnovers and foolish penalties, Ravenwood can’t beat us.

The right team showed up last night. That’s the defense we’ve been waiting to see. Congrats GTown on another great season. Can’t wait to see Baker in that Tiger jersey next year.

Thanks for the update, keep em coming please, I’m out of the country on my honeymoon but I’m checking in every chance I get. I would’ve expected more points but I like that it’s a defensive battle. That plays in our favor.

I agree we played undisciplined and made wayyy too many mistakes against you guys. That’s basically what I was saying; if we don’t make those mistakes and play more disciplined it’s a whole different game. We played our worst game of the season against Germantown. You’re right, it’s no way we can get by playing like that against y’all.

Yep we did, I think anybody could’ve beat us the way we played on the field and the way we fell apart on the sidelines. Germantowns a great team, you play how we played the first game you have no shot at beating them. If we protect the ball and not lose fumble 3 times in the first half, have more 50 yards rushing, and eliminate foolish penalties it’s no way they can beat us. So yep again we beat ourselves even tho Baker straight mossed on us and that beast of a TE caught us slipping on a play action TD. Central showed the blueprint; you gotta be a able to run on that D to beat Germantown. We know we can pass but the key is establishing some type of run.

I agree, 15 should stick to dB or switch him in at qb as a read option threat to throw GTown defense off a lil bit. Germantowns big plays came from the passing game, they ran well but I think if we shut down the pass their run game alone won’t be enough to beat us. Tbh they don’t use their tightend enough. It all depends on which Whitehaven team shows up, I love how we were able to overcome adversity against Houston. That’s the key recipe to winning from this point on. If we don’t beat our selves, Germantown can’t beat us!

We establish some type of run game and not lose the turnover margin. We win. The first game we only had around 50 yards rushing. Our oline play has to get better but Sneed is the type of back that can make something out of nothing. Germantowns passing game hurt us last week as well. Baker and that tight end are a handful but I trust our coaching staff to have our defense more prepared this time around to stop their passing attack. Gonna be a great game.

I agree they didn’t, they only add fuel to the fire of negative stereotypes for Memphis schools since they are the most successful small school out of Memphis. That’s why I said winning and winning the right way

I have no bone in the fight but you saying she’s a liar just because of the reasons you mentioned are bs. I won’t group the whole county as that, but all it takes is one bad apple and the impression is ruined...

I appreciate the kind words, those were the teams that came to mind. I think if they’re clicking right they (Cordova, Central, Kirby) would have a shot cause I believe all of those teams are neck and next with RW if not better but if we’re talking overall consistency then probably not but as far as this thread goes... the smaller schools in Memphis generally have a bad impression because for the most part they get beat down when they play the rural schools which is because they’re just incapable of building a program like the smaller schools in the rural areas. It’s understandable if you’re comparing a school with the whole county or town supporting them vs a smaller school in the hood with minimum support not to mention the 3 or 4 others schools with in like a 10 mile radius... and then on top of that Trezevant being one of the lone examples of a smaller school who has had consistent success on the field. But winning will cure all that, winning and winning the right way; which is why I’m so glad to see the support that a school like is getting and the great job their coach is doing in turning their program around. It’s also great to see a Freedom Prep in just they’re second year have success. If more smaller teams show up and show the other schools that Memphis teams can play disciplined football and start beating them then the stereotypes may still be there but the respect will be established.

Whitehaven, Germantown, Lausanne, MUS, Christian Brothers, Briarcrest... and the toss ups games would be Cordova, Central, Ridgeway, Kirby
