  1. My question is WHY is Ravenwood a "lock" to be Quad 2, is it because they are the furthest east geographically of any of the qualifying teams in Quad 3? I would think that if you were the top ranked team in your quad you would get to stay in that quad, but logic and TSSAA usually don't go together. The geographic location is the only thing I can see that would make sense, we'll as much sense as it can make
  2. Only had one viewing of each but from my small sample I would say Franklin is a much better all-around team. Franklin is coming off a draining loss which could have an effect but I would say Franklin will beat Indy and Centennial.
  3. I disagree, if Ravenwood goes to quad 2 they could potential have to play Oakland, Blackman then Maryville. Love my Raptors but they would be very lucky to win one of those, no way they can win three in a row. If in quad 3 they could play themselves into only having to beat one of them in the state championship, much greater odds though still unlikely. The link below shows what would the brackets would be in held today but that could likely change since Blackman will have to beat Hoover, AL to remain the #1 seed in quad 3. My question is, why would Hendersonville be #1 in quad 3 when Ravenwood has a higher rating and they both belong in quad 3?? http://www.dnj.com/story/sports/high-school/kreagerscorner/2014/10/20/kreager-blog-6a-playoffs/17605931/
  4. How does the TSSAA determine the bracket alignment from their standings. I know that some teams are moved from their "natural" quad and placed in another but when and why do they do that?
  5. If Ravenwood wins I would say that it pretty much gives them at least a share of the District. Not to slight their final two games against Brentwood or Summit but I think Ravenwood's JV could at least get a split. If Franklin wins they still have to play Centennial and Indy which could go either way. However, I think Franklin poses the biggest threat to Ravenwood this year. They are tough, well coached and most of all have the best quarterback they have faced all year. I could see Franklin putting as many points on the board as Ravenwood's 1st team defense has given up all year. If Franklin can muster that much offense it will be up Ravenwood's offense to outscore them. Should be one heck of a game and great atmosphere.
  6. I would say that the ball just didn't bounce right for them early on and once they started losing the attitude has changed. Kind of the exact opposite of last year, the ball bounces right for them and they get some big wins and it snowballs into a great season. I think the talent is just as good if not better, but as we all know attitude goes a long way.
  7. I can only tell you what I've seen from Ravenwood and what I've heard from Centennial. I'll start with Centennial, I have a friend who has seen them play a couple of times and says that Ravenwood should be able to run the ball against their front seven which would open up the passing attack. However, their defense has been pretty tight the last couple of weeks on giving up a few scores. Ravenwood which has no true D1 talent has a handful of kids that could definitely walk on at a small college. They aren't real big but play fast and really tough. The first team has only been scored on two times this season, the only other points from opponents have come from special teams or mop up duty by 2nd and 3rd teamers. They are led by Sr. middle linebacker Jeb Stewart who was the leading tackler a year ago and hasn't let up one bit this season, probably average 12-15 tackles a game. He is surround by 8 other seniors and 2 juniors. The d line is not really big but their quickness is amazing and their pursuit of the ball is really good. The other linebackers beside Stewart are above average. The safeties are really good, Nick Barton is the quarterback of the defense. The corners have struggles some this season but have improved as the season has gone on. I know this is one sided to Ravenwood, so maybe someone could give us the Centennial perspective.
  8. For Centennial to win Sanders and Company will have to have the career day he had against Brentwood last year, 30+ carries and 200+ yards. I just see a one dimensional attack carrying the day against Ravenwood's defense. Centennials front seven will have to stop the run and put pressure on the quarterback to slow down Ravenwood, if they can't do that I don't see their offense being able to outscore Ravenwood. The ironic thing about this game is that it comes down to quarterback play which Ravenwood has a noticeable advantage but if the Rievtalds were still playing/coaching at Ravenwood Brown (Ravenwood's current quarterback) would be in another position. My prediction RHS - 28 CHS - 14
  9. Riverdale vs. Hendersonville. Blackman can name the score against Indy, it will be over by the end of the 1st.
  10. After watching LC in a preseason scrimmage the only thing I saw they were good at was taking cheap shots on the other team. I would say a .500 team at best, even in a smaller classification. No way they would stay within 50 points of the top 10 teams in the state, probably not the top 50 teams. You have to remember to return to the glory day would mean THE top team in all of Tennessee.
  11. Two teams with a lot of offensive firepower. The team's who's defense steps up wins. I expect it to be a battle. Ravenwood 32 Indy 30
  12. Threat to win state title in football? In 2014? You're crazy ask Hendersonville how that game with Maryville ended up last year. Maryville, Blackman or Oakland could play their JV the entire second half again any team in 9AAA and still win easily.
  13. Unless Woodward is playing his son at quarterback when he's the 4th best quarterback on the team I think he'll get another year. There are a lot of politics at Brentwood just like any other school with parents who have influence but I think their Athletic Dept. and administration will have a little patience. They know they are not as talented as they have been. Unless there are things going on that I don't know such as lack of effort on the coaches part or they have a coach who they would really want who would come there (one that might be right down the street), Sig won't be swayed by parents this quick.
  14. DC over Creekwood Spring Hill over Summitt, but not for much longer Ravenwood over Stewart's Creek, much more talent and more established program Indy over Kenwood Centennial over Clarksville NE CPA is going to crush BHS, taking out frustrations from last year's state championship game on the worst BHS team in over a decade
  15. From what I've gathered from the scrimmages the district is stronger as a whole. Not as strong as Rutherford County schools but closer than last year.
  16. Ravenwood/Franklin winner District Champs Indy/Centennial winner 3rd DC/Brentwood winner 5th Summit needs 2 more years then they make a big jump but this year bring up the rear.
  17. Just from the quick eye test I felt like WC was a much more complete team. The Beech backs were impressive but that was about it. WC seemed to be more balanced on offense and defense, kind of glad we don't play them in the regular season. I will be interested to see who wins between the two during he regular season but if I was a betting man I would put my money on WC by 10-14 points.
  18. RHS has the speciality players to compare to a lot of teams but the "big uglies" they are lacking. Don't think they will be able to hang because of that. That is where your big time programs are built and BHS has them and RHS doesn't, at least for now. Hope Hester can coach a special one and pull the upset, but I will be very surprised...not enough horses.
  19. The original question was how good is Overton. Granted I've only seen them play Ravenwood and admitted that it was sour grapes but don't think they will make any noise in the playoffs. Don't get me wrong but I'll be surprised if we do either. There are three tiers of teams in the playoff, teams that are lucky to be there and won't be long, better than average teams and teams that a really good. Ravenwood and Overton fall into the middle catagory right now. Overton completed one pass against Ravenwood and we can argue till the cows come home if the kid was in bounds or not but it really doesn't matter. If you think they can beat the other #1 seeds or strong teams like Oakland doing that you're wrong. Overton has had an awesome season but if they are not a contender and I think that is what they wanted know.
  20. They have 3-4 high quality players but 5-22 are very average. As a Ravenwood fan you can call it sour grapes since they are our only loss but I don't see them going very far in the playoffs. If those 4 guys carry them it may be a different story but in the playoffs in 6A it's hard to win without being a complete team. Like I said, call it sour grapes but I truly believe they were the fourth best team we played. We probably won some games we shouldn't have but I felt like we let let that one get away big time. If Overton wins their quad which I would say is very doubtful whoever plays them in the semis can write their ticket to the championship. As for the Father Ryan win, great win but remember it was the 1st game of the year and somewhat of a rivialry game since the schools are about 1 mile apart. If they played tonight FR wins and if FR play BA tonight pretty sure you catch my drift.
  21. I agree but I'm not talking the "star" players but more of the core player who actually pay tuition. They are mostly role players for BA, MBA, ect but would be top players for Ravenwood, Brentwood, Franklin, ect.
  22. Define being back? I don't think they have done anything relevant in recent history but they are a very solid team. If the predictions for playoff standings hold true they could win their quadrant if Overton is the toughest team they play. I've seen both of them and Franklin is a far superior team to Overton no doubt.
  23. I think also our talent is diluted somewhat by the private schools. A problem that doesn't affect the Murfressboro schools quite as bad or schools like Maryville at all.
  24. Should be a heck of game. Franklin playing at home will be extremely tough but I feel like Ravenwood probably has a slightly more talented team and is a bit more tested. Who would have ever thought that the winner pretty much locks up the district with a win or at least a tie. If Ravenwood wins they would only have to beat Summit to be the outright winner. Franklin would need to win one of their final two games to win the District. I guess the winner of the Independence and Brentwood game will get the remaining spot in the playoffs, unfortnate fact of two very tough schedules.
