  1. Good Morning Friend. 10 total placers from last year, 3 Finalists, 1 Champion. Of course you would say yes because Packy was a finalist last year. 74 placers this year from the small schools...success. I looked at it last night, glancing.....It would have been around the same type of results as last year. I counted maybe 13 placers and maybe 2 finalists. TSSAA should have cleared more money this year. I hope they reinvest the surplus to make it a better experience for the kids.
  2. All of Chattanooga's other good programs and wrestlers are now in 1A/AA, helping the sport grow. At least a few are allowing us to claim Cleveland, Bradley and Walker Valley as part of our area. You only have Soddy Daisy, Ooltewah and E. Brainerd from Chattanooga proper competing with the big dogs in AAA anymore, my lord that sounds incredible. Of course we do still have Baylor and McCallie, but their over in another division helping private schools grow their programs.Soms, their spreading us to thin. Hard to carry all three divisons at the same time.
  3. well, in Chattanooga we used to watch on tv thanks to check into cash, good wrestling man by the way. but TSSAA found a way to mess that up too
  4. what was the situation G.
  5. Has Richards from Wc signed with anyone? GO TUCKER RUSSO...TROJANS Hate that for Gage, kid from Brentwood is just darn good.
  6. Bcb, is there a reward for winning the "maxi". It may be something us semi retired wrestling dads may want to get into next year.
  7. Coffe, I told your head Coach 2 years ago that there is no way Alcoa shouldn't have a good program. He was outside talking to Ward Gossett about wanting to make a 1A/AA state tournament. I said you have all those awesome athletes up there and you cant field a competitive program, I guess they went and got competitive, pretty cool to see it happen.
  8. I've never seen that happen before Rob. I was hoping you could let us know. Looked like a good semi match with Larue both of them seem to be very good young men as well. Good Luck tomorrow.
  9. Soms' Have you heard anything about them limiting Region 4 to only taking the top two from each weight next year. Its supposed to help further their Medal and Trophy redistribution plan. On another note, it looks like a lot of programs are in pretty good shape. Really like what Knox Halls and Heritage are doing. A lot of good wrestling tonight, do a pull up for me........
  10. It showed this morning Ethan taking a FF win over Strawn but Strawn's wrestling this evening?
  11. Nice to see Coach Smith getting some talent, bright future it appears for the young man. Brett Brown just put Baltz out. I didn't see any of these guys last year. Enough talent up there to go around, they love there wrestling. Bradleys BACK.
  12. Finish the job Tucker and Gage. Go to the wall. Trojans:) Keep fighting Garrett.
  13. Where's Knox Fuller out of. He come thru Lake Forest Program?...Awesome job. Coach Smith has some horses for a few years.
  14. If there is ever a mark in question, plz take a doctors note. Coaching always insures that we took one. Apply base liberally and blend. Cleveland's already winning the close matches. Haas, Ezra, and Bishop..how championships are won. Coach Smith looks to be turning the corner at Bradley also, truly some great coaches and staffs from Cleveland, Walker Valley and Bradley. So impressed. Some big quarters in the morning, and you can see some of the conso brackets taking shape already for contending teams. Love Track wrestling. The Heritage/ Cordova match looked to be a good one to. A good wrestler sent home from that one.
  15. Just love Chattanooga wrestling to much.......didn't seem right to not try and wrestle for them all. We trying to get Blake up north I hope? What about my little nephew, I ragged him just a tad after state duals. Told him his cousin won his first Baylor/McCallie match. Let coach Newman and Coach Connell down. I think he may be just a tad bigger than Blaike, LOL
  16. Your a total homer now, not a bit of public school left in you. Sad. . Go McCallie.....
  17. I told college coaches last year how good I thought Chad was going to be. Don't under estimate Soms. He may act like a dingbat sometimes but he knows wrestling. Our whole state should know Chad's the real deal.
  18. The young man is special. Doesn't get out of position...never. Strong upper body and great hips, cuts the corner quick. Blaike had his cradle hooked up in about 30 seconds and couldn't turn him. Not once but twice. Blaike also pinned in the 2nd period the same kid from Texas that beat Soloman,..... since you brought it up. I've liked him since I saw him as a freshman. Seems to have great character as well. West and Soloman are or can be as good as any upper weight we've had in the state before, with both wrestling the same styles.
  19. I write my opinions, that is all. Everyone has one their like B.Holes. My son never read Coacht, he didn't want it to affect his thought process. I apologize if I've offended any wrestler with talk, its nothing more guys. Nothing's ever given its earned. I've got friends that have children in the new 1A-AA state tournament, and I care about them a great deal. I know that they have probably not liked my opinions about what some of their coaches got passed thru. A good wrestler is just that, regardless of student enrollment. A good wrestler is not born, its made through hard work and sacrifice. These coaches have basically said their not good enough to compete for titles in wrestling as it was structured, so they changed the rules. Please count the wrestling teams in AAA that cant even field a full roster for their wrestling teams, what is their excuse. Lets lower the competition requirements to medal and that will build programs. Parents do you realize that's what was done. Don't blame the detractors, I had a son at what is now a "1A-AA" school participant, he won a state championship there. He competed against all these giant programs and won. It means nothing more nor nothing less, he competed against kids that weighed the same weight as him. Its wrestling, not a fairer sport on the face of this earth. Coaches needed it, not the kids. To z9A, again Im sorry if you or any of your wrestlers have been effected by something I've said. I think i'll retire, join my friend bearcat. I've only posted on three names on this board in 9 years. Chattwrestling, Khromax, and this one. Only because I never posted all that much and forgot my passwords, Good Luck to our Trojans from Soddy by God, we love you. Brian Henry
  20. If my memory isn't failing me.....I'm kidding. Lets throw some facts in the mix. According to Kenneth Hammonds rankings from 2/12/13 state tournament addition. 2,4,5 and 6 were on the same side of the bracket. 4 ranked kids on the same side of the bracket, who had the easier bracket. I think the number 1 seed or placement by the power brokers at TSSAA had the easier side of the bracket according to ranking's which you put a lot of stock into. The 5th ranked wrestler earned his state title, nothing was made any easier for him. Sometimes it appears you create arguments around the way you think things should have happened, not the way they played out. I think what usually happens is former placers know what it takes to make it happen when it matters most. Wrestlers that haven't placed before in a state tournament can lay blame at their own feet, where it belongs. Doesn't mean their not good wrestlers, they could be great wrestlers but maybe they haven't learned to hone their focus on the matches that matter. I hope they do start seeding the state tournament, I'm all for taking away any excuses some one could possibly come up with for not winning, but for now.......only two weeks in a season make darn. Regions and State, your focus should be directed there not to a meaningless tournament in November. Every year you see kids come in with big gaudy records, then you have some kid that's been competing against Brandon, Collins Hill, Baylor, Christian Brothers and McCallie then bam that awesome record gets two and done. How do you perform when it matters most, they placed for a good reason, they earned it.
  21. I like a lot of bumps picks, I've been away from the action this year but I think the team title will be decided in 6 weight classes. 13,20,32,38,52,220. All weight classes have implications but these 6, a split and Cleveland is still king of the individual jungle. Wilson Central if they are focused and earn some tuff matches.....HAMM, what I'm saying is that there is a chance.. The best time of the year folks.
  22. Let me tell ya, back in the day...In our old district with Baylor, McCallie, Red Bank, Hixson.....you better be good to get 4th in that district. French Roast strong brew. Sometimes reading this board I think I should be drinking Chock full o'Nuts. If its good enough for Morgan Freeman, it should be good enough for us. You see my good friend Dancing E. Davis say hello for me.
  23. Hey Soms, pull out the scissors and glue. Go back and find those posts that stated that the state tournament being held in Chattanooga gave those teams and unfair advantage. I remember a lot of people complaining about our kids getting to sleep in their own beds and how that helped Chattanooga area teams dominate. So when those kids clubs up in Nashville start producing more talent and taking home more gold and trophy's then our area......I think you guys have provided us with an excuse. Location of beds.....funny huh. Put the think tank on that one Soms. How many champions have called Chattanooga and Cleveland home since the taking of the beds.
  24. Rob, I just glanced over the final ranking's from last year before the state tournament. On USA wrestling-Tennessee website. At 160 the 5th ranked wrestler won a state championship and a lot of ranked guys didn't even medal. 1 and 2 did ok, but from there u coulda thrown dice at the wall and done as well. Some 2's didn't even medal. We both know its not an exact science, I was looking at the emphasis you were putting on 'blind draw' when you do that it makes it sound like you think someone was shown favor from nefarious minds wrecking kids dreams.
