  1. Ok. I will bring up. 70-0 is absurd as well in high school. Especially with a running clock once you get up by 35. However, we aren't talking about American Football. It's a systemic issue that for the good of high school sports needs to be addressed. Not with rules, but with Coaches behavior and coaches that instruct and teach their players how to win with class. Back in the day, running up the score would have been dealt with on the field by the players. If you start running up the score and try to embarrass the other team certain enforcers usually would put an end to it with a few hard tackles or a few hard fouls in basketball. Not intentionally trying to hurt people but getting the point across. I am not advocating that either just making the point that at some point somebody is going to have enough and then it gets physical. We are talking about teenagers here that sometimes don't make the best decisions. Something to consider the next time your blowing somebody out and your star player has to get that 4th,5th, or 6th goal.
  2. Very well said. By the way, I believe Ram Fan is the coach.
  3. Donnie's taking his ball and going home.
  4. Article in Knox news sentinel that's tells the story. Chasing records against inferior competition versus somebody like Laura Lauter that played against much better competition at Farragut. Happy for the student athlete as it is a fine accomplishment and hope she has a good career at Arkansas. Sad for high school sports in general though as I fear some "coaches" and schools have no clue about sportsmanship and coaching high school sports.
  5. Or 19-0... but I have said my peace on this school / team / coach. Rumor has it that the school is trying to stay in D1. I wonder why???
  6. Scott is 3A. In the same region as CAK.......
  7. Yeah I got bored a couple weeks back and decided to stir the pot....some of these scores from all over the state just baffle me.
  8. Valid points I guess. We will just have to disagree on how coaches should handle games against obviously weaker opponents. My old coach used to put restrictions on us from the beginning of the game to slow the scoring down and then would play the back ups the whole second half. If you are up 3-0 with restrictions at half, and then remove the restrictions in the second half for your JV, you probably still add 3-4 goals. The weaker team is usually no threat to score on you much less beat you so you don't have to worry. You could always put your Varsity back in if the other team started scoring. Good luck with scheduling next year. I wonder how many A/AA public teams will play you when they aren't required to...
  9. LOL. Scott County, Oliver Springs, And STEM Academy are not in your district. Your non district schedule consists of Webb and Oak Ridge. Why not play CAK, Catholic, Hardin Valley which are just short drives from your campus?? Nobody said we were playing Upward Soccer. I simply am making an observation that many, well respected, experienced coaches find to be a bad trend in high school soccer today.
  10. Well much to your surprise, I have seen you play...twice. In the first game you were up 8-0 late in the second half and still had your starters in (even your girl that is going to Arkansas). The second game I saw was very similar. The reputation that I heard from the spectators about your program at the first game was confirmed while watching the second.
  11. going for some kind of record or just don't believe in sportsmanship when playing obviously weaker opponents???
  12. at Concord Christian D W 11-0 Oliver Springs W 12-0 at Fulton D W 16-0 #24 Gatlinburg-Pittman D W 14-1 at #12 Seymour W 9-1
  13. Going to have to retract my prediction about season. Kingston will be lucky to win 5 this year if the best we can play. We may come back and win this one but I am not impressed.
  14. Dont worry...got the stones....just trying to be civil and voicing one man's opinion. I think due to the outstanding play of our QB last year everyone assumes that the backup can't play. He is not Bolden. Different type player. But can be effective.
  15. I think our line will be better overall with What w have coming back. . We lost 1 starter I believe. We still have #23. We will miss the QB. But that could just mean more opportunities for Lane. The LB #3 is up to about 230 pounds and can move pretty well. Plus our young players are fairly talented and should contribute some. When referring to starters not playing, Yes they get some reps but not enough as a full unit to gauge how they ultimately will play. I am going off what the players say. That comment was referring to a post about OS beating Kingston in a scrimmage. As for why I think they go 7-3, we lost players, but so did everyone else. Harriman lost one of the best running backs they have had in a long time as well as big boys up front that were very good. Rockwood lost some players, etc. Scott Co always plays us tough. Only teams in our region that doesn't really lose talent is Alcoa. Just looking through the schedule, I think 7-3 is very doable.
  16. Kingston did not play any starters versus Oliver Springs. Mostly JV and Freshmen. Kingston will be fine this year. Expect them to beat the teams they normally beat and lose to Alcoa and CAK. Greenback is a toss up. 7-3 or 8-2 is very doable as long as they stay relatively healthy.
  17. I wish it were as easy as the honor code. Most schools indicate up front if there is a tuition discount for multiple students. From what I understand this is the area that will force most schools to go to DII. Therefore, there should be a reporting mechanism in place for private schools. If they are doing things on the up and up, they should have no problems reporting to the TSSAA. However, If there is any suspicion, TSSAA should request all financial records of school supporting that all students paid the same tuition. (Ex: Student A, Paid 10K, Student A's little brother paid10K, etc.). If a school is found to have cheated the system the TSSAA should bring the hammer down on the first offense. (Death Penalty type action if this were the NCAA.) I would HOPE and I reiterate HOPE that private schools tied to any church would not skirt the rules. Kind of defeats the mission of the school and makes me question their existence entirely.
  18. It is my understanding that tuition discounts for multiple children also fall under the TSSAA rule so any private school offering a 2nd, 3rd, 4th child discount will be forced to either stop giving that discount or go DII. I may be wrong but that was the interpretation that I heard. Doesn't matter if it is an athlete or not. It goes for all students.
  19. Classifications could change slightly once enrollment numbers are taken this year. Some borderline schools could go up or down. Alcoa usually plays up to 3A as well.

  21. That about where I ended up as well. From what I can tell district competitors shouldn't be too far travel... at least in the east. Don't know about the west part of the state.
  22. 3 Classes in DI will be separated evenly by enrollment based on total number of schools participating. Divisions should have roughly 75-80 in each classification. Is this about right??

  24. Because he went to school there and wants the job.... For anybody who has watched their feeder programs....it is not a good job.
