  1. Agreed. You don't get a lot of matchups like this anymore. #1 vs. #3 in the state USA Today super 25 poll. The following week the Patriots will play #6 CPA. Glad the coaches and whoever makes those decisions got this done. Looking forward to some quality football and competition.
  2. Heavy on James and Patterson and lighter on Horton. The passing game isn't near the level of the running game. Horton is extremely talented but doesn't get tons of opportunities because the run game is so effective. Defensively they are very disciplined, very athletic and fast. Don't know what kind of release the LA QB has but it better be quick. He will get pressure. Heavy and often. The remarks about 3 lineman and 8 backers is pretty accurate.
  3. Yeah I was at the end of my 4th game when someone said "hey, you're doing pretty good, usually 2 folks do this job" lol.....at that point I was used to it so I never looked back. Yes it is kinda tricky. Folks don't realize how many buttons have to be pushed after every single play.
  4. I'm really wanting to see Milan play this year at home but schedules don't align unfortunately. PA guy for Milan is lifelong best friend and I usually make it to at least one a year. Really wanting to see the new lights and scoreboard.
  5. And for some reason a guy playing basketball on top of the scoreboard as well!
  6. My gut feeling because I know very little about LA is that it will be a hard fought competitive game. What I know about Oakland is that they are very well coached to begin with. To me that has been the deciding factor for Oakland. Great game plans, great execution (from the coaches), and what I would perceive to be very few if any errors on clock management and so forth. That being said the coaches don't get to play. However they know how to get the players to ready to play. Depth is also a huge positive for Oakland. I think they have about 100 kids give or take on the team. If RB Jordan James (Georgia commit) tweaks an ankle or something then in comes Antonio Patterson (whom actually shares starting duties with James) if they both get hurt then the 3rd string guy comes in and other than a number change on the jersey, you won't see a major difference. James is the best of the three but the other two are pretty dang good as well. When he runs he looks slow because of his "glide" but he's really pretty fast. Sneaky fast. Receiver Horton (Miami commit) is pretty solid all the way around and if you throw one up then he will climb the ladder and get it. Oakland is a good offense, great defense, good special teams with an exceptional kicker. It should be a fun one to watch and I can't wait to see how it turns out. If LA wins I will happily do the same and give those kids the credit they deserve.
  7. I take it not a lot of lipscomb folk around these parts. Kinda what I figured.
  8. Looks like Oakland matches up against Siegel at Oakland this week. I certainly expect Oakland to win this game without too much difficulty but then again that's why they play the games. Hopefully Covid won't interrupt this one and I can finally see them in the first home game of the year. This will be year 6 for me running the scoreboard and 25/40 second clock. Gotta loosen up the fingers for button pushing! I haven't seen Oakland lose a home game during my entire tenure there. It's bound to happen. But not yet. Go Pats
  9. How do you guys see this one working out? I know LA is very fast and puts up big numbers but will they be able to do it with the size, speed and depth of Oakland? I don't see it happening but then again?
  10. So this game Sept 23 and then on Oct 8th CPA will be coming to the boro to play Oakland. What is arguably the two best private programs in the state. Look forward to watching these games play out.
  11. Outside looking in, kinda similar. At least it didn't happen if it was.
  12. Lol....it wasn't a serious thread anyway. I was just trying to raise a few hackles for fun. When your favorite program is on top its fun to spout off at the mouth a little. When Oakland eventually down cycles, which it will at some point, I'll go back to lurking in the shadows.
  13. Unfortunately they have to schedule what they can find. I would assume this isn't a matchup that Creasy wants because it is of no benefit for his team other than possibly some younger player development. Trust me that Oakland isn't afraid of any program in the state but the opposite is definitely not true. 99% of the teams in the state don't have a prayer of beating this team and the vast majority would have a running clock on them. My personal thoughts are that Maryville would be a good game that could go either way for certain and possibly the Whitehaven squad although I have no idea what kind of shape that program is in considering they didn't play at all last year. Maybe two of the private school programs would give them a really good game. Most people don't truly realize the depth of quality players that they have on the roster. A hundred players or more on that team. Exceptional coaches. They can be beat but not by many. And not very often.
  14. So are these out of state programs paying this team of homeschoolers to come take a butt whooping? They're horrible and they are travelling all over God's creation to play the likes of Oakland.
  15. I would assume both teams were desperate to fill out the schedule when this was done. I can find very little about the Beacon Hill team other than they are small and haven't won many games. It should be mostly a JV game I would assume. Does anyone have any info on this team at all? I can find very little. Hope it isn't a Bishop Sycamore type deal.
  16. Agreed. With the exception of Riverdale which I'm not sure about just yet, the rest of the games are truly no more than an opportunity to improve. Vast majority of the starters will never see the 4th quarter for the rest of the regular season. And probably most of the playoffs.
  17. I'm hoping this is the year Oakland can get past that being that IF they matchup again in the playoffs it would be at Maryville this year. If memory serves me, the games at Maryville have all been close ones and the games at Oakland have been blowouts in recent history.
  18. Would love to see this matchup happen.
  19. Well crappers. Hate to see kids from both teams not have an opportunity to compete.
  20. They're good. Really good. Scoreboard guy told me so. Who can beat them?
  21. He is definitely a tweener. LSU had trouble at first trying to figure out where he would work best as well. I'm afraid he may not have the speed to be a true cover safety but could work well as a linebacker with a little more weight put on.
  22. Of those three I would say Juaun Jennings but my "best" would have to be Jacoby Stevens. Senior safety for LSU. In high school they lost to Whitehaven in the finals but he was an absolute dominant player at the high school level and has been very good at LSU. He was projected last year at the end of the season as a second round NFL pick had he left then but since he came back for his senior year and LSU is so bad this year I'm sure his draft stock will drop significantly.
  23. It's all in good fun. I actually have tremendous respect for the Maryville program and what they have done. Yes they are down right now but will be back. If Oakland wins or loses it really doesn't matter to me. I have no skin in the game whatsoever. I'm there because my son used to go to Oakland but now he is at MTSU. In middle school and freshman year he played football at Oakland and I was approached by a coach at the time because they needed a Dad to run the board for the freshman game that night. Next thing you know, my kid doesn't play anymore and I'm doing all the varsity games for the last five years. I do it not because I'm an Oakland homer, I'm not. I do it because I love to watch good, well coached football and that is what the Oakland program is under Kevin Creasy. Very similar to what you guys have only you have been doing it longer.
