  1. Lol......means absolutely nothing. Great tradition but that's about it. Maryville got boat raced by Oakland this year. Unless some of those little fellurs grow in the off season, you gonna get boat raced again next year at home. At least the quiet drive home will be short for ya'll next year. Had to ice down my finger after the game. Pressin' that +6 button plain wears a finger out after awhile.
  2. Yes, he is a special player for sure. Oakland, like Maryville doesn't have to recruit. Success breeds success. Parents with children that are great players oftentimes want to come here to Oakland for the exposure they will get to good coaching and top level college scouts. Maryville had a down year for them but I'm sure will be back in short order. Horton, Patterson and James are all juniors and will all be back next year hopefully. I don't really see any reason they wouldn't. Oakland should be a force to reckon with next year as well. Who knows though, lots of time between now and then and anything could happen.
  3. Your statement implies we went out and "recruited" him. If this was your meaning then it was just a baseless cheap shot you took. And yes I did see some teams in the playoffs and throughout the season that I thought were better than Maryville.
  4. Milan certainly has their work cut out for them but I'll be there rooting them on all the same. For poops and giggles, this is what I would love to see. Oakland vs. Alcoa and Milan vs. Brentwood instead of the other way around. I think both of those games would be very competitive. Obviously never happen but the matchups would be pretty good I think.
  5. Very true. It was the only road game I wanted to go to but wasn't able to for Oakland. The Taylor kid is seriously talented.
  6. Yes. Thanks. Thats the kid. Nice young man and a hard running back.
  7. I do quite well on Sportsbook actually. You just said Oakland would win by 10. Not that they would by AT LEAST 10. That's why I thought you were wrong. Yeah, I would take Oakland -10 all day long. And the over.
  8. Jennifer is very good with a camera for sure. I guess I've known Jennifer since a month or so after they started dating over 30 years ago now. Back then photography was a big hobby of mine and she was just starting to get into it so she a.and I used to spend a lot of time talking cameras and lenses and shots. She's gotten really really good at it now and it doesn't surprise me in the least. That girl can do just about anything.
  9. Jon lived down the street from me in high school in a tiny little town in SE Arkansas called McGehee. I used to have to give him a ride to school because my mom made me. He was a year younger than me and I hated I had to give this chump a ride. We became close and basically have been brothers ever since. You won't meet a more kind and caring couple than Jon and Jennifer. Amazing that he and I both just kind of accidentally wound up in Tennessee but glad it all worked out that way. Oh by the way, talking ain't never been a problem for Jon-Jon. That's what we called him back in high school. If you go to the game Friday and see him, I'll be the one with him wearing a Oakland hat. He has yet to score me any Milan gear.
  10. Really looking forward to attending this game Friday. My best friend of 30+ years is the PA guy for Milan and I did get to attend a game earlier this year and was really impressed with them. Love the Milan running back but don't remember his name. Not real tall but built like a battering ram. I was able to speak with him before the game and he was extremely humble and very respectful. Love to see young men that know how to act in public. Not to mention the kid is a hard running never gives up player. I know Milan has their work cut out for them with Alcoa but it can be done. Either way, looking forward to that one and the Oakland game which is my local team. I've been the scoreboard operator at Oakland for the last 5 years so I reckon I'm partial to them. Go Dawgs, Go Pats!
  11. Just inhabited by them best I can tell. Just funning with you. MJ is a fine place. Couldn't resist that hanging curve you laid up there. Lol
  12. The over may be about right but Oakland only winning by 10? You would put your life savings on that? How much ya got? Maybe I can retire early. Stay off of Fanduel Sportsbook. You ain't good at it lol. I know that Brentwood has a chance simply because they made it there and are a good team but quite frankly there are lots of good 6A teams but only about 2 or 3 that are great and Oakland is one of them. Oakland and Brentwood are on different levels and the two levels aren't really that close.
  13. I know you're not asking me but I'll throw my opinion in for giggles. For the last five years I have been the scoreboard operator for Oakland so I have been at every single home game regular season and playoffs running the board. In my opinion, the 2016 team may have been the best but the Whitehaven team was a little better that year. 2018 state championship team was very good and got the title. I think the 2020 Pats are playing as well as the 2016 team did and are every bit as talented as that team overall. In the beginning of this season I felt they were good but not great. Improvements were coming along but slowly. It seemed to me that after the Warren County game things "clicked " for these guys and all the hard work from coaches and players really started paying off. Each playoff game they have become a more cohesive unit. Now they are very very good. They play smart and they play hard and have great coaches showing them the way. All three phases are excellent. I think it will take a herculean effort from Brentwood for them to win however that's why they play the game. Can't wait until Saturday night to see how things work out. It'll be nice to be a pure spectator and not have to punch a hundred buttons after every stinking play. Go Pats!
  14. Was standing on the field when Maryville came out. Initial thought was they looked small. Very well coached but Oakland is just bigger, faster and more physical. This is shaping up to be like the last time the Rebels came to town.
  15. No you're not. Hopefully y'all show up this time so it's a good game
  16. Lol......they have to shut down two stud runningbacks. We ain't DB
  17. Oakland runs the ball very well with two feature backs in Patterson and James. If that doesn't work they throw it up to Horton and let him go get it. Kid's a 6'4" junior with offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Tennessee and several others. This game is usually a tight one and I would suspect that Maryville won't have a meltdown like last time they came to the Boro but I will give the edge to Oakland 28-25
  18. Until Riverdale can prove it, I'm going with Oakland.
  19. Mount Juliet CAN'T keep it REMOTELY close. Fixed it for you. And ain't no one in Kevin Creasy's head. Especially not a MJ coach. Yes they had a close game last year. Yes Oakland won. It's ok, 7-4 is a pretty good season for yall.
  20. Oakland can be beat but I don't think MJ is the team to do it. Maybe Riverdale or Maryville if it comes to those two teams. Lots of depth on Oakland.
  21. So what are y'alls thoughts?
  22. Not quite. Warren County lost. No such thing as a moral victory in football. Scoring 20 doesn't make you anyones daddy.
