I’m excited to see this matchup. This will be a test for our young guys on defense physically. We have some freshman starting or playing a lot in secondary, and some that give us immediate depth up front. These guys will have to grow up fast on Friday night! Our backs will have an opportunity to establish themselves against a team that is closer to our talent level and the talent in 1A in the west. I hope to see the #8 and #6 duo get downhill and get rolling. It has been hard for me to see what this team really can do. We can’t judge off of a weak LV team, SC is an opener with lots of messy play an opening game, and CCS is on another level. I think this game will help gauge where we stand. I think this will be a playoff type atmosphere at Beene!!! I look forward to it!!

I don’t know much about 1A in NC, But I will say this with confidence. There is not a NC state championship team in 1A that’s any more talented than some of the SP Greenback McKenzie Peabody championship teams. Football is football no matter where you are geographically or demographically. 2011 SP had plenty of kids that were not white and got the ball slammed down our throats by a bunch of well coached white kids. Lol trust me when I say SP was much more athletic and talented. Apparently both teams have been stronger in the past. I promise there is not a NC 1A team that has had any more talent than SP 2007.

Also, LV had a couple of ball players. Looked like some of the older LV teams with some solid players. Just not enough of them. -

If freshman and 8th grade classes stay intact it will be one of the most talented rosters in school history when this years 8th graders are juniors and fresh are seniors . Coaches will confirm that. -

He showed some wheels tonight on a couple plays. He’s a very solid defender and seems aggressive and always running to the ball. Freshman class will have some division one football players if they keep their nose to the grindstone. -

I agree. Wellington looks great. I didn’t understand playing some of the older guys and starters into the 4th but I don’t coach. Also does anyone know why our All State Caliber track runner who is an upper classman isn’t touching the ball until the 4th qtr? -

Pirates by a lot. I really hope to see them clean it up some. #6 is a physical runner and I expect to see him get rolling this week. -
Y’all better start paying some rent for some of them Dunlap kids that play football instead of recruiting MS girls basketball players from the area, because it looks like y’all fellas need some help. SP just mercy ruled the team that put a 50 Piece on your forehead. Once again though this thread stems from someone up the road worrying about SP instead of how to win football games in November and December. Those layup lines will come sooner than anticipated this season in Jasper.

I agree CCS is much better, but if you watch the film we left a lot on the field. And we have to be able to line up even in 1A! And we just couldn’t do it for most of the first half we broke the huddle and we’re scrambling back and forth as if we didn’t know where to line up. As biggums says I’m just keeping it real.

Don’t you have a fire to put out instead of throwing gas on one.

Too many politics involved in field trialing for me. They don’t judge the way the my used to. -

Hey now we may have to meet up and run some beagles!!! Nothing like a good rabbit race. Do you field trial? Also, does anyone have an overall record between SP and GB? -

Don’t think I’m alone when I say Sasquatch county has established themselves as one of the most physical hard nosed teams in the valley over the last 4 years or so. It’s usually always a ball game. -

Excited to see coach Wilson! I know they are 3a or 4a if I’m not mistaken but have struggled? Can anyone tell me anything about them? -

I agree we’re having a problem throwing the ball right now. Against some of the teams on our schedule that can get us in a really sticky situation. We did have a couple drives where we completed passes across the middle. A lot of our issue throwing the ball was pressure on the QB. To be as big as we are we did get pushed around some too. As far as the minutes they are giving players, it’s a summer scrimmage and Vic sees a run coming this year so why chance getting some very important players banged up before the season even starts?
